Chapter 145
The most shocked was Jasper.
That fragile, helpless Clea who couldn't take care of herself and needed him to carry her when she got low blood sugar from just sunbathing - that flying kick must have been at least ninth-degree black belt taekwondo level, right?
Kicked against the wall, Pearl's head hit it hard, and she was dazed from the fall.
After a long moment, she came to her senses and looked at Clea in shock.
"You dare to kick me?"
"How did my kid get that injury on his face?" Clea grabbed Pearl's hair, looking warningly at her stunned bodyguards, "All of you get out! This is a hospital!"
The bodyguards looked at each other, and before they could react, they were all cleared out by the bodyguards Clea had brought.
Most of Pearl's bodyguards were just security guards, while Clea's ex-husband was from the Novaria gang, so her bodyguards were mercenary-level.
Not even in the same league.
Nora stood trembling in place, unable to quite grasp the situation for a moment.
Michael covered Nora's mouth to stop her from speaking. Since someone was teaching Pearl a lesson, don't interrupt.
Actually, if Clea hadn't acted, Michael had planned to make Pearl learn her lesson tonight anyway.
But his methods were mostly verbal warnings. On the way here, Michael had already warned the Clark family - not just business cooperation, but including all industries the Clark family was involved in- that the Smith Group cut off all partnerships.
Plus, Michael had called other important partners of the Clark family.
Pearl's father already knew and had been calling Michael constantly on the way. Michael didn't answer. By now, the Clark family should be rushing over frantically.
But these methods obviously weren't as direct as Clea's kick.
"You crazy woman, who are you?" Pearl screamed in pain as Clea dragged her by the hair to the bedside.
Clea slammed Pearl's head directly into the edge of the bed.
Samuel flinched, blinking his big eyes at Clea. She was so cool.
"Samuel, did she hit you?" Clea asked.
Samuel nodded, then shook his head, "They broke glass, the shards cut my forehead."
Samuel was an honest child.
"Who the hell are you? Jasper, make this crazy woman let go of me." Pearl was crying now. It hurt so much. She had never suffered such humiliation in her life. She had always been the one using violence to bully others. When had anyone ever bullied her?
Jasper stepped forward and opened his mouth, but was glared at by Clea's look.
"You want to help her?" Clea narrowed her eyes threateningly at Jasper.
Jasper frowned, "She's from the Clark family. I'm worried you'll get in trouble."
"The Clark family? There's a Clark family in Emerald City?" Clea looked back at John, "The Clark family in Emerald City? What do they do?"
"Marriage alliances, I guess? The Wood family from Silverlight City - Walter is her fiancé." John was carefully stitching Samuel's wound, speaking casually, "Oh, right, Pearl's sister is that Aria, the woman in an arranged marriage with Michael."
"Walter, Michael?" Clea raised her voice, "Walter, whatever, I don't know him well. I've only been abroad a few years - has Michael gone blind?"
Nora stood trembling at the door, looking back at the 'blind' Michael.
This Clea was so fierce. She was so envious.
Michael coughed lightly, "I'm not blind yet."
Clea looked back and saw Michael standing at the door.
The woman cowering in front of him must be Nora.
Clea had seen Nora before, in photos.
Photos Samuel treasured, saying his mother was an angel.
"Michael! Michael, save me." Pearl's nose was already bruised, blood pouring out, her forehead swollen, crying and begging Michael to save her.
Michael's face was cold, as if written all over with 'I don't know her.'
"Nori." Jasper quickly stepped forward, nervously protecting Nora, "Didn't I tell you not to come?"
"I..." Nora shook her head, "It's okay, I caused this trouble, I'll handle it."
Walking to the bed, Nora looked at Samuel with concern.
Samuel didn't dare move. Seeing Nora, he cried and raised his hand to cover his wound, "Mom, don't look. I'm fine."
John covered Samuel's wound with medical gauze, frowning, "Take care of the child."
"Thank you, thank you, Dr. Williams." Nora quickly thanked him and stepped forward to hold Samuel, "I'm sorry, Mom came late."
Samuel's eyes were red, his gaze falling on Michael. He timidly opened his mouth but ultimately didn't call out "Dad."
Michael looked at Samuel. His face had little color, his crying-red eyes particularly swollen.
Feeling inexplicably heartbroken, Michael stepped forward and took Samuel. "Does it hurt?"
Samuel hugged Michael, snuggling affectionately against his shoulder, "It doesn't hurt."
Michael's eyes looked coldly and menacingly at Pearl, "You want to die?"
Clea had originally thought Michael was here to help Pearl, but now this was getting interesting.
Pulling Pearl's hair, Clea smashed a nearby water glass and pressed a shard against her face, "Tell me, if I leave a mark on your face, will you learn your lesson?"
"Help! Crazy woman, let go of me." Pearl was terrified, struggling hard, but she was no match for Clea at all. Crying and screaming, she finally had to beg Nora, "Nora! Who is this crazy woman? Make her let go of me, or I'll definitely kill you."
Nora clenched her hands tightly, her eyes red.
Back then, Pearl had cornered her in an alley with her people, and no matter how much she cried, they wouldn't let her go.
What was this little bit of harm to Pearl?
"Nora! Fine, you've got backing now, haven't you? Bringing this crazy woman! Just you wait." Pearl cried and threatened Nora. She only dared bully the weak.
"You still have energy to shout?" The shard in Clea's hand cut Pearl's forehead, right where Samuel was injured.
Pearl cried in fear, screaming, "Nora, I won't let you off."
Nora's eyes reddened as she hid behind Michael, saying nothing.
Honestly, she was actually a bit happy.
Seeing Pearl so miserable, she actually felt glad.
But why did she still want to cry?
Looking at the wound on Pearl's forehead, Clea nodded with satisfaction, "John, treat her wound. I'll pay."
Pushing the person out with disgust, Clea looked Nora up and down, "You're Samuel's mother?"
Nora nodded nervously, "Yes."
"Michael, what's your relationship?" Clea asked with a smile. Michael and Nora's relationship was definitely not ordinary.
A woman's sixth sense was too accurate.
She and Michael had been classmates since kindergarten. She knew Michael pretty well.
When this Michael turned cold, he could watch his own father die in front of him without blinking. Yet his every gesture was protecting Nora, and he even voluntarily held Samuel.
His germaphobia was famous.
"A blind relationship," Michael said darkly.
Clea laughed, becoming more and more interested in Nora.
She had once wondered what kind of woman could win over a man like Michael.
Nora was really something.
"Michael, you have this day too." Clea laughed, sitting on the hospital bed.
Michael raised an eyebrow, reminding Clea, "Pearl is Walter's fiancée. I heard they're about to formally prepare for their engagement party. You've scarred her face - watch out for Walter coming after you."
Clea laughed, "Walter? He should check his eyes first."
"Michael." Outside the door, people from the Clark family arrived.
Pearl's parents, plus Aria, and Nolan.
"Dad! Mom! Mr. Smith!" Pearl cried out, crawling over in her disheveled state.
Michael narrowed his eyes. The Clark family wasn't stupid. They knew to bring Nolan to restrain him.
Nolan's face was stern as he glanced at Michael, "Michael, come out!"
