Chapter 144
Nora turned back in panic to look at Michael. Samuel was hurt.
"Mr. Smith, I need to go to the hospital." Nora's voice was choked with tears as she anxiously turned to run out.
"I'll go with you." Michael grabbed his coat, draped it over Nora's shoulders, and headed to the garage to get the car. "Get in."
Nora wanted to say thank you, but she was too scared to make a sound.
"Find out which hospital Jasper and Samuel are at," Michael called David.
David, far away in Shadow City, had just finished dealing with the hotel cleaning staff issue and now had to track down Jasper's whereabouts. "Yes, Mr. Smith."
Emerald City Hospital, Emergency Room.
Jasper's phone had been snatched and smashed on the ground, shattered into pieces.
Samuel was crying in fear, hiding in Jasper's arms.
He had a wound on his forehead, clearly cut by some sharp object.
Jasper had been holding back his anger, his fists clenched tight.
These bastards.
Over the years, Jasper knew he couldn't afford to mess with them, so he'd always held back, but they just kept pushing harder.
"Jasper, you still won't let Nora come back?" Pearl leaned against the doorframe with a mocking smile, "I don't agree, and I'd like to see who dares to bandage this little bastard's wound."
Jasper's fingers slowly tightened, his eyes darkening as he looked at the dozen or so bodyguards Pearl had brought, "This is a hospital."
"So what if it's a hospital? Ask these doctors - without the Clark family's permission, who dares to treat this little brat!" Pearl was arrogant. Her time at the police station clearly hadn't taught her a real lesson, but instead made her resent Nora even more.
Plus, with the rumors about Nora and Michael, Pearl felt indignant on Aria's behalf and was furious.
Anyway, in Pearl's view, Michael would marry Aria sooner or later. They'd all be family.
Since he'd be her brother-in-law, he surely couldn't really side with outsiders.
"Excuse me." Just as Pearl finished speaking, John walked in wearing a white coat and carrying a medical kit.
Looking at Samuel's wound, he frowned and crouched in front of him, "Hey buddy, are you afraid of pain?"
Obviously, not everyone cared about Pearl's status. As a doctor, John wasn't intimidated by Pearl at all.
Biting her lip, Pearl spoke angrily, "Didn't I say that without my permission, no one should treat this little bastard's wound. What's your name!"
John glanced at Pearl with dark eyes but didn't stop what he was doing, using tweezers to hold cotton and disinfect Samuel's wound.
Samuel's little hands gripped tightly, looking at John bravely, "Doctor, will it leave a scar?"
"So young and already worried about your looks?" John smiled, teasing Samuel.
"No, it's not that." Samuel was crying hard but still bravely holding back his tears, "If my mom sees it, she'll worry."
He didn't want Nora to worry.
John's hand holding the cotton ball paused for a moment, and his movements unconsciously became gentler, "It won't scar. The wound isn't deep. I'll be very careful when I stitch it up, I promise you won't see any scar, okay?"
Samuel nodded obediently.
"How did the parents take care of this child?" In a lower voice, John asked reproachfully.
"They went to the rental place and smashed everything. The glass broke and cut Samuel." Jasper nervously held Samuel, "Samuel, don't be scared. The shot won't hurt."
Samuel nodded with red eyes, "I'm not scared. It's not your fault."
"Don't you understand?" Pearl angrily tried to step forward.
John looked at Pearl, "This is a public hospital. Has the Clark family become this arrogant?"
"Dr. Williams, they won't let us in." At the door, a nurse said angrily.
"Call the police," John told the nurse to call the police.
Pearl's expression changed as soon as she heard "call the police," "What's your name!"
"John Williams." John pointed to the name tag on his chest.
"Fine, you just wait." Pearl signaled the security to let the nurse through, then went aside to call the hospital leadership.
"Jasper!" Outside, Clea rushed in, her voice somewhat panicked.
"Clea," John called out, continuing to treat the wound on Samuel's forehead on his own.
Clea glanced at John and nodded.
The Williams family only had this one heir, but he refused to take over the family business and ran off to study medicine and become a doctor.
"Boss." Jasper was startled, not knowing why Clea was here.
Clea's gaze fell on Samuel's face as she ran over in panic, "Samuel, who did this?"
Samuel had been very brave, but when he saw Clea, he cried in distress.
"How did you get here?" Jasper asked nervously.
"Why didn't you answer when I called?" Clea was angry. When she couldn't reach Jasper, she went to his place and found his rental apartment smashed and in complete chaos, so she knew something must have happened.
She had secretly turned on location tracking on Jasper's phone.
"Something came up; it wasn't convenient to answer," Jasper said quietly, carrying Samuel to a treatment bed nearby.
"Who did this?" Clea asked angrily, pointing at Samuel's wound.
Jasper didn't say anything.
Over there, Pearl finished her call and said mockingly, "Our director is coming. Don't say I didn't warn you - until this little bastard's mother gets here, no one is allowed to treat his wound."
Only then did Clea notice there was someone else there!
Narrowing her eyes, Clea turned to look at Pearl, "My kid - you hurt him?"
Pearl glanced at Clea but didn't recognize her.
Today, Clea was wearing casual clothes with her hair in a high ponytail.
Besides, Clea had gone to Novaria early on, so Pearl naturally wasn't very familiar with her.
In Emerald City, the only socialite who could compare to Clea was Veda.
Unfortunately, Veda relied on the Smith family, while Clea relied on herself.
A media reporter once interviewed Clea, asking what it was like to marry into a wealthy family. Clea publicly mocked the reporter, saying they should ask her husband what it was like to marry the daughter of a wealthy family.
"Your kid? Who are you? Got a death wish - Jasper's girlfriend?" Pearl laughed. Had Jasper gotten a girlfriend in just these few days?
"Do you know what kind of person Jasper is?" Pearl put Jasper down, "A man who molests his own sister long-term, can't control his urges. I think you'd better stay away from him."
Jasper frowned, wanting to explain but feeling it was pointless.
Nora was right. When someone slanders you freely, even if you're clean, you become dirty.
Clea looked back at Jasper, and Jasper looked at her, too.
His gaze was complicated.
But Clea felt a bit heartbroken.
"Which mental hospital didn't keep an eye on you and let you crazy person, out?" Clea wasn't going to put up with Pearl. She went up and kicked her, sending Pearl flying into the wall.
Everyone in the treatment room was shocked.
The young nurse covered her mouth in surprise, and the timid ones were already hiding behind John.
John seemed used to it and raised an eyebrow.
Clea had been someone not to mess with since childhood.
Sure enough, only bad people can defeat bad people.
Outside the door.
Nora ran over in panic. What she saw was a slender figure delivering a flying kick.
She stopped in shock and looked back at Michael, unable to make sense of the situation.
The one who got kicked - that was Pearl, right?
