Chapter 105
Who would marry a woman who can't have children?
"Lowell Warren, I really see you for who you are now." Savannah leaned against the bed, speaking sarcastically. She looked calm on the surface, but inside she was bleeding.
Having been betrayed once before, Savannah no longer trusted any man.
This man named Lowell must have put in a lot of effort back then to make Savannah fall for him again.
Unfortunately, when she struggled for so long to take out her wounded heart and give it to him, he cruelly stomped on it, trampling it until it was bloody.
Nora looked at Savannah. How heartbroken she must be.
"Where were you when Savannah got hurt?" Nora clenched her fists and stood up.
Nora was very timid. After all these years and everything she'd been through, her social anxiety made her afraid to look strange men in the eye.
But for Savannah, she still stood up.
"I was busy," Lowell frowned.
"You're lying! I saw you hiding in the bathroom. You didn't dare come out, you coward!" Yasmin said angrily.
"She was the one flirting around and messing with people she shouldn't have. How was I supposed to save her?" Lowell said, getting angry.
Savannah's face went white with rage. She swept everything off the table and threw the money at him too. "Get out! Get out of here!"
Nora bit her lip, her body trembling, her eyes red.
"I've done all I could." Lowell didn't pick up the money and turned to leave.
"W-wait." Nora stammered. She was angry.
Lowell stopped and turned to look at Nora with a frown.
Nora picked up the water glass nearby and splashed it hard in Lowell's face.
The water Yasmin had just poured for her was still hot.
Lowell's face turned red from the burn. He stamped his feet in pain and glared at Nora furiously. "Are you crazy!"
Nora clenched her fists. "You deserved it."
"Get lost!" Yasmin rushed over and pushed Lowell out of the hospital room.
Lowell wanted to curse at Nora again, but Walter kicked him aside from outside the door. "Say one more word."
When Lowell saw it was Walter, his face went pale with fear. He scrambled up and ran away.
Nora turned around shakily, wanting to comfort Savannah.
But Savannah laughed instead. She laughed until she cried. "Nora, I've known you for so many years, and this is the first time I've seen you so brave. I thought you used all your courage to hurt yourself."
Nora froze for a moment and lowered her head silently.
"When we were in prison, I told you - instead of letting people bully you and hurting yourself, you might as well go crazy and mess with them instead." Savannah said weakly.
Nora still didn't say anything, just looked at Savannah with red eyes.
"What's that saying again? Ever since I got mental illness, I've been so much more spirited." Savannah smiled at Yasmin.
Seeing Savannah forcing a smile like this, Yasmin's heart ached and tears fell.
Nora slowly unclenched her fists. "Savannah, come find me in Emerald City. Let's survive together."
Yes, just to survive.
"Okay." Savannah nodded.
"Yasmin, can I use your phone?" Nora said quietly, glancing at the doorway.
She needed to call Michael back. After all, Michael was her boss now, and she couldn't let him worry about her.
Thinking about what Walter said about Michael and Aria...
Nora didn't believe it.
Given Michael's personality, he wouldn't be irresponsible.
But this wasn't something she should care about, and she didn't want to ask.
Yasmin handed her phone to Nora.
Just as Nora was about to call Michael, Walter pushed the door open.
Nora quickly gave the phone back to Yasmin in fright.
"You want to call him?" Walter held up Nora's phone, showing Michael as the caller.
Nora rushed forward in panic to grab her phone, but Walter lifted his arm and trapped her in his embrace. "You all rest well. Nori needs to get back to Emerald City tonight, so we won't stay long. If there's any problem, have someone contact Royce."
Walter's voice was cold, with a strong tone that left no room for argument.
Savannah frowned, looking at Nora with sympathy.
Neither of them was better off than the other.
Yasmin was scared. This was Walter?
He really was with Nora?
After Walter dragged Nora away, Yasmin said quietly, "Mr. Wood seems to really like Nora. Could Nora become the future boss's wife of Mountain Construction Group?"
Savannah sighed and shook her head. "Someone like Walter would never marry women like us."
She laughed sarcastically and leaned back on the bed. "People like them, so high and mighty, will do anything to get what they want. They only enjoy the process of conquest. He won't give Nora the status she wants."
Yasmin wanted to say something but stopped herself.
Walter wasn't someone they could mess with. Better to just say nothing.
Parking lot.
Nora stumbled all the way as Walter dragged her to the car.
She was very scared.
Walter was furious, she could tell.
"Do you care about Michael that much?" Walter threw Nora's phone aside and pinned her down.
"What are you doing? Walter, don't do this." Nora was terrified, trying to push Walter away in panic.
The moment Walter pressed down on her, she seemed to return to that night six years ago.
Fear spread through her entire body.
"Mr. Wood?" Royce had been sleeping in the car and woke up suddenly, looking at Walter nervously.
"Get out!" Walter was furious.
Not just because Nora worked at the Smith Group, and not just because Nora cared more about Michael, but because Noah wanted to fight for custody of Samuel and wanted him to talk to lawyers about suing for custody.
And Nora was still foolishly here...
Royce panicked a bit. He wanted to save Nora, but Walter was his boss.
"Walter, please don't." Nora cried in fear.
Walter glared at Royce furiously. "Don't make me say it twice."
Royce got out of the car and walked far away, breathing heavily.
He stopped, his thoughts in chaos.
Should he do something?
What Walter wanted to do to Nora was obvious.
"Walter, don't touch me, please." Nora cried and begged Walter, but Walter only got worse.
He was very strong, pinning Nora's hands above her head. She had no strength to struggle. "Nora, have I been too good to you?"
"Have I respected you too much, making you forget what you should do to protect yourself?" Walter was very angry. What he wanted was for Nora to obediently listen and not defy him.
As long as she obeyed.
Nora slowly stopped struggling, tears blurring her vision.
"Mr. Walter Wood, Mr. Noah Wood is looking for you." Royce came back after all, his voice trembling.
Inside the car, Walter didn't want to pay attention to Royce.
"Mr. Noah Wood's assistant said he's having a heart attack." Royce knew Walter's weak spot was Noah.
Walter's hands froze as he held Nora. He sat up straight with dark eyes and loosened his tie.
Nora took the chance to push Walter away, opened the car door on the other side, and ran away in panic.
Walter cursed in frustration and punched the passenger seat.
"Go find her and send her back to Emerald City." Walter also got out of the car and leaned against the door smoking.
Royce hesitated for a moment, then turned and ran to find Nora.
But in just that moment when he wasn't watching, Nora had run into some alley and disappeared.
Nora's phone was in Walter's car. There were too many small alleys near the hospital, with many drunks and shady people.
For Nora to run out alone, unfamiliar with the area, was too dangerous.
But Nora was frightened and only knew to run desperately, running without looking back.
Her mind was blank. She just wanted to find a safe place to hide, to hide alone.
