Chapter 80 Coming Back To Life

Chapter 80 Coming Back To Life
HAYDEN'S POV

"She can't be dead, you know it!" I scream at the people surrounding me.

The Prophetess swore that we would be married, we would have children. That can't happen with one of us in a grave.

Why is it that they can't understand that I can't carry on without her? She was part of me, one that can't be replaced.

"Sweetie, I am so sorry!" Mother attempts to comfort me, her hand rubs my back.

"It's only a few years and she will come back, Son. You need to be strong for her." Father says. He is still trying to act like a king even when my mate is gone.

He is to blame for so much that has happened. If he did not insist on Usher being part of the wedding, Bella would probably not be laying so still in my arms.

Her skin is growing colder, all signs of life fading away. I can't stand the agony of loosing her, it's like my heart is being ripped apart.

"Bella . . . I need you . . . we we're meant to be one, remember?" I grab all the blankets on the bed and wrap them around her.

"Sweetie, she isn't going to come back." Mother says, wipes tears from her cheeks with her sleeves.

"She is not dead yet!" I insist. She may be unmoving, but I can still feel our bond. It's very weak and it's strength is declining, but it's at least there.

That's why I carried her here, hoping that the doctors can do something. But they all insist that even though there might be the tinniest glimmer of life in her, they have no idea how to make it grow to it's fullness again.

I wish she can see all the beautiful fantasies I had of our future life. I wish she can hear my heart calling out her name.

"Son, you have to let go. Be strong, you're a King now." Father says. "It just a few years and you'll see her face again." He adds.

The man has no idea what it feels like to loose someone who is like your other half. He is such a jerk and a control freak.

"Get out of my face!" I hear myself snap. His eyes go wide with shock.

I have never yelled at any of my parents before. I have never felt this broken before either.

"He is devastated, don't take him serious." Mother tells him. "I think we should leave him alone for a few hours."

She takes his hand but he doesn't budge. "I need to be sure that he is ready to lead the Kingdom. His reign is what people have been waiting for years."

"He needs time to mourn his mate, Even the people can understand that." She argues, pulling on his hand. He hesitantly follows her out.

There is still a crowd of people in the room, including Bella's parents. Their silence speaks volumes about how they feel inside.

I look at the face of my mate and my heart throb with fear. Her face is turning pale, she is loosing the fight against death.

I would give up anything just to see colour return to her beautiful face. The whiteness is making my heart ache.

Bella's servant rushes into the room dragging a panting Prophetess by the hand. "Your Highness, our Prophetess says she can save her."

Now that sounds like hope. I look up at the face of the old woman who is holding her chest, huffing.

"You can save my mate?" I ask.

"I think . . . your Goddess sent me a vision. . . . You can save her but . . ." She coughs aloud before carrying on. "You will need to pull out one of your feathers."

Pulling out a feather from one's own wings would be excruciating. Feathers are like hair, unless it comes off on it's own, pulling it out hurts really bad.

But like I said, there is nothing I will not do to save my mate. I will pull out every feather on my wings if that is what will make her eyes open once again.

Bella's parents looks at me with hopeful eyes. I understand their unspoken message. They wish I can save their daughter, but I think they are afraid of verbally asking me to.

Bella's mother surprises me by stepping forward and wrapping her hands around my neck.

"Please save my daughter! I will be a servant here for as long as I live to repay you." She pleads.

She is forgetting that I want Bella well again just as much as they do. Probably even more.

"She is my mate, there isn't a thing I wouldn't do for her." I tell her. Her eyes shine with joy and she pecks the top of my head. "You mind stepping back so my shirt can come off?" I ask.

She hastily steps back with a sweet smile on her lips. The tears that she had shed are still staining her cheeks.

I pull off my shirt and everyone steps back to allow my wings to spread.

"Only pull out a golden feather." The old woman directs.

I pick a long feather and pull it hard. It hurts so bad that I gasp.

I however do get the feather the Prophetess requires. She goes on to ask for a candle and a glass of water.

She uses the candle to light up the feather, then holds it up over the glass so the ash drops into the water.

She uses her finger to stir. "Pour this on her wound." She hands me the glass.

I quickly toss away the covers I had used to keep Bella's still body warm. Bella's parents steps closer to us as I hold the glass over the wound and let the liquid drop on the massive wound on her chest.

It appears to be filling up with new flesh as the liquid falls on it. Those around us gape at the stupefying scene. It feels like a miracle!

The inside of me feels like it is being reconstructed, like my other half that had gotten weak and dying is growing back to it's fullness.

The wound gets completely sealed by the time the last drop lands.

Bella's body remains unmoving. I stare at her face in confusion. Wasn't she supposed to come back to us?

There is a sudden, faint sound of her heart beat that I am certain only I can hear and my own heart throbs in response.

Her mother reaches out and touches her wrist. "I think she got a palse!!" She screams aloud in joy.
Her husband rushes forward to touch Bella's hand and reaffirm that what his wife is say is indeed true.

"Our beautiful daughter is coming back to us!" He asserts in exhilaration. The couple carry on to embrace in celebration.

I pull the now warmer body of my mate closer to me. Our mate bond feels stronger than any other time. Her pale skin is also adding colour.

She lays still in my arms and I start to actually wonder if she is going to wake.

Then comes her strained cough and everyone around me jumps in jubilation. She is back!

"Bella?!" I exclaim, watching her eyes open. She doesn't respond, just coughs some more.

"She may stay weak for some time, being pulled back to life isn't easy." The Prophetess say. I will forever be grateful to the Goddess who saw it fit to bring her back.

"Hayden?!" Bella finally whispers.
