Chapter 77 The Rare Wedding
Chapter 77 The Rare Wedding
BELLA'S POV
"It's time for you guys to join Hayden in the hall. You both look incredibly beautiful so there is no need to get nervous." Hayden's mother says.
I feel my stomach churn. I am once again going to be the centre of attention and this time people are a lot more than last time. It's hard not to feel nervous.
Good thing is I am not alone this time. There is a very bitter Usher beside me and she is the kind of girl that enjoys attention.
"I am not going anywhere!" I hear Usher say. Hayden's mother shoots her a death glare.
"Excuse me?" The Queen utters.
Usher stands, looking very confident and determined. "I don't see the point of being part of this ceremony since Hayden demands that I leave as soon as it's over." She almost screams.
"I think the King had made it clear that the person that won't be chosen should leave!" The Queen snap.
"Hayden had promised to let me stay a week so I can find somewhere to go. But he somehow changed is mind." Usher answers.
Hayden had told me about their agreement. She was to stay for a week after the marriage. But in return she was to stay away from the event.
Hayden's mother seems to be thinking. I hope she doesn't give Usher extra days to stay here. It may sound mean, but I think everyone knows the things Usher is capable of.
I also don't think she is missing a place to go. Angels are too cherished for anyone to miss somewhere good to be.
"Hayden has not made his choice yet. You can stay a maximum of two days if he doesn't choose you. That's the best I can offer you." The Queen finally says.
Usher sighs in relief. She even smiles like she has won something. Her short servant grins happily as well.
The two may be planning something nasty that only them knows.
"Your servants will walk you to the stage." The Queen announces.
Mary takes my hand. "I can't believe I have this opportunity to be in front of so many people. What do you think of my hair?"
I had not noticed she is no longer in a maid's gown but in a pretty, pink dress that makes her look quite young. Her hair is so elegantly styled. She has been out of this room for only fifteen minutes and managed to do all that? She looks more like a princess than a maid.
"Wow! West will wish he didn't reject you!" I whisper.
"You're exaggerating!" She says even as her big smile is about to cover half of her face.
Usher and her servant make their way to the door, hand in hand.
"Let's not keep Hayden waiting." Mary says. We start our journey to the hall, walking a few steps behind Usher.
The big crowd explode with cheers when we walk in. I imagine they are looking forward to seeing who gets chosen with a lot of interest.
I have never dreamed of being married or being in a wedding ceremony before I came here and met my mate. If I had a perfect imagination of my marriage, it would look nothing like this.
The only good thing about this wedding is the bridegroom who stands waiting on the stage. Even without his wings out, his beauty makes him look like an alien from planet heaven when compared with everyone else.
His Father stands beside him, smiling proudly. The imperial sword lays on a table in front of them.
I don't know why seeing that weapon makes my whole body shiver. According to the secret records, only a weapon made of pure gold is capable of ending the life of a golden winged angel. Not many would waste a huge amount of gold to make a weapon. So you can bet that this is the only sword that can end our lives. I don't like the sight of it.
The whole of my family have their seats on the stage, my biological mother as well. Skylar is happily seated on Hayden's big chair.
West is sits beside the King's empty seat. I see his eyes go a little wide as he watches Mary and I walk to the stage. He must be seeing her true beauty and probably regretting having rejected her.
The King gestures to us to stand a little far from Hayden. He wants this to actually look like there is a choosing taking place.
The only people smiling are him and the crowd. Even Hayden isn't enjoying this.
He will soon be King and none of us will have to withstand this kind of embarrassing scenes.
"You're moving to Hayden's room after the wedding?" I am surprised to hear Usher ask in a low voice.
"Why would you care about where I sleep?" I ask.
"I am just curious because most women jump in their lover's bed immediately after marriage which is a bit shameful." She answers.
I can't believe she is still talking this nasty to me even on this stage.
"The only thing you should worry about is where you will go after this." I tell her.
"The Queen did give me a few more days to stay. Then I will leave you and your husband alone to have a family." She says with a smirk.
"You should pray for Hayden to choose you, because if I become the new Queen, you'll be leaving tonight!" I mutter.
Her eyes go wide. Her mouth opens but no words come out. Guess I found a way to shut her up.
"Thank you to you all that have come!" The King says to the crowd, standing on the space between us and Hayden.
"As you are all aware, this marriage starts a little different than any you have witnessed." He says, the crowd cheers. "We have two beautiful brides, two beautiful angels who love our powerful and handsome Prince."
This is getting embarrassing for all of us. It sounds like we have been fighting for him!
USHER'S POV
It took me all the courage I could master to argue with the Queen so she could give me extra days to stay here.
I had forgotten that after this ceremony, my sister will be the new Queen. She can change anything she feels like, including sending me out of her new home.
I was here before her yet she has the audacity to threaten to throw me out.
The urge to reach for the imperial sword and plunge it deep into her flesh is overwhelming. I don't know if I will have another chance to get hold of the sword if she is actually planning to have me thrown out of the palace. There is no doubt Hayden will support her.
"I honestly wish that my son is willing to keep both of them." The King says and the crowd laughs. I can see my sister is already mortified. I wish she can run out and leave me as the only bride in the room.
"Allow me to introduce to you our first bride and probably the new Queen." The King says and gestures at me to step forward. I feel nervous as I walk closer to where he stands. Anna follows me, smiling stupidly. The evil smirk on the King's face let's me know whatever he is about to say isn't good.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Angel Usher. She is not my son's true mate, nor is she the kind of a person I would wish to be my daughter-in-law. Her determination is unmatched, but as you may have heard, she is also self-centered, a liar and quite foolish!" He says aloud for everyone to hear.
Anger boils within me. I wish my sister and Hayden were not here to stop me from tearing him apart.
This is what he has been planning all along, to embarrass me in front of such a huge crowd. People will be talking about this moment for years to come.
Even my mate is laughing aloud. I imagine it doesn't matter to him if I get embarrassed, he is waiting for someone else after all. I wish I can vanish.
"I am a good father and will not stop my son from choosing her." He asserts.
He takes a long pause before continuing. "Now I would like to introduce the most beautiful of all Angels. A girl as powerful as my own son. She is the bravest, selfless and kindest person I have ever met. I am also glad to announce that she is my son's true mate and the girl every father would be happy to have her marry their son." He says with the sweetest smile.
"Miss. Matthews, please step closer to us." He gestures to my sister to come closer.
She still doesn't smile as she and her servant come to stand next to me. The crowd cheers and claps as loud as they can.
Hayden is adoringly gazing at her.
"And now our Prince will make his choice!"
