Chapter 36 Who Does Andrew Truly Love?
Chapter 36 Who Does Andrew Truly Love?
When Lucy left, I called a crew member to escort her to Sarah Olsen's house, while I continued my journey toward the dining room. Andrew waited in his seat; he didn't waste any time and immediately invited me to sit down and eat.
"Is Lucy waiting outside your room?" Andrew began to speak as a mouthful went into my mouth.
"Are you worried about her?" I asked.
"I just want to know what she said to get your forgiveness," Andrew said.
"She loves you; she wants to stay by your side. That made her willing to humble herself and apologize. Even though I knew from her facial expression that she was the type of person who wouldn't compromise her self-respect." I spoke at length.
"Yes, I know. Lucy is a persistent person. Decades have passed, and she still likes me," Andrew muttered.
"Perhaps if you had accepted it, there wouldn't have been an evil Lucy." I shrugged one shoulder.
"Why are you saying that as if you're someone else? You should be jealous; you should be asking me to kick Lucy out." Andrew looked displeased.
"Collin once warned you about Lucy's treatment of me. But you never believed me. If I asked you to kick her out now, would you do it?" Andrew nodded without debate.
"Back then, I didn't know what Lucy was like behind my back. After the Sarah Olsen incident, she provided a lot of evidence, and it all made sense. Now I believe it's Lucy who's causing you trouble over and over again." Andrew is awake now.
"But why are you still keeping her by your side? If you knew she was really dangerous to me, why did you still bring us together? Especially since you said you still loved me." I want Andrew to be straightforward. Did he intentionally put us together in one house so I would be in danger?
"I'm waiting for the moment to catch her. So she can't deny it anymore. But it's difficult to punish her, as I said from the beginning that we've known each other for a long time and we're good friends. That's why I asked her to apologize to you. If you forgive her, then I will forgive her too. If not, then I will kick her out," Andrew said, and he looked very straightforward.
But something about Andrew this time seemed different. Where did the always-enthusiastic Andrew disappear to? Where is Andrew, who is always angry about small things? Why does he look so calm and always defend me?
I immediately shook my head; I couldn't be swayed just by a few good things he showed.
"I will forgive her if she also apologizes to Sarah Olsen. Now she's going to Sarah Olsen's house," I said.
"Sarah will never forgive her. The person who seemed perfect in public is now flawed simply because of Lucy's jealousy. Her income decreased quite significantly, and she's also suing my company for her losses." Andrew finished his breakfast even though his plate was still full.
"You were already in the holding cell yesterday, right?" I choked. Andrew suddenly said that, and I didn't expect him to know about my visit to the holding cell to see Collin.
"There are three prisoners next to your doctor; those are the people who know that Lucy committed a major crime. We're keeping him here and hiding all of Lucy's mistakes."
"Are you stupid?" My question was met with Andrew's laughter.
"Because I kept Lucy and covered up her mistakes?" he asked, and I nodded in agreement. If Andrew really doesn't like Lucy, why would he bother protecting her?
"Lucy's brother once saved my life during a fire set by my father's business rivals when we were little. Her older brother died while saving me, and he asked me to protect Lucy. Little Lucy was traumatized when her brother passed away, and I positioned myself as a sibling figure for her, but she interpreted this as romantic feelings." Andrew's lengthy expression left me speechless. All this time, Andrew has been hiding this story from me. He should have told me from the beginning so I wouldn't have felt this misunderstanding toward him.
"If that's the case, let Collin go." My words immediately made Andrew glare at me sharply.
"Let Collin heal Lucy with his abilities. If you don't want to let her go, then treat Lucy. She could really harm others if left like this, and you'll live just to cover up Lucy's mistakes." Andrew stared at me even more sharply. Both my hands were tightly gripping the tablecloth on my lap. Does this make Andrew angry? Isn't there anything wrong with healing Lucy?
"And you'll meet that man again." Andrew shook his head.
"It's up to you if you don't want to. I'm just trying to offer a solution for Lucy." I shrugged my shoulders. Now Andrew fell silent and seemed to be weighing things up. Then suddenly the sound of heavy rain was heard, accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Even though it's still too early for heavy rain like this.
The maids scattered, trying to close the windows exposed to the strong wind. The wind was strong enough that even to close the windows, the maids and servants had to work harder.
"Tell Gerry I won't be coming into the office today," Andrew said to his men, now getting up from his dining chair without responding to my last statement.
Andrew strolled away, and since the host was finished, I stopped my breakfast too. Andrew suddenly seemed cold. Was he bothered by my suggestion to release Collin from prison?
And when I followed him from behind, it turned out that Andrew didn't go straight to his workroom but instead sat on a sofa next to a large window and read a book there. The dark and rainy atmosphere made anyone reluctant to go to work and want to spend the whole day reading a book. It turns out Andrew can also be as normal as most people, even though I've never known what's going on in his head.
I watched him from afar, his expression unreadable, but suddenly his phone rang. Andrew picked up his phone, and his expression became so panicked.
"I'll be there soon."
Andrew hung up the phone and rushed off; he even just passed me by without explaining anything. What really made him panic to the point of ignoring me?
I stood silent for a moment, gazing at Andrew's back as he braved the rain outside. Perhaps it was work at the office that made him have to leave in such a hurry.
I sighed for a moment before deciding to approach Andrew's seat while reading the book I was reading earlier. I'm quite curious about what book he's reading.
I was engrossed in a philosophy book that Andrew was reading earlier when suddenly, without realizing it, the sound of a car entered the house area. Andrew got out of the car soaking wet, carrying Lucy in his arms.
