CHAPTER 61 — FAINA PETROV
As soon as my father shoots Heros, Noah appears behind him and delivers a blow that I would have been amazed at — if I hadn't fallen to my knees in despair and gone to Heros, holding him and resting his head on my lap —, doing my thing. Fall to the ground in a faint behind us.
— Heros… Heros! — I caress his face, running my hands down his chest when I notice a red stain on his shirt — Baby, please talk to me!
Tears begin to blur my vision.
— Heros, my brother. — Noah shakes him — Heros… Heros! Don't do this to us, man! — he shakes his brother's body with more intensity.
— Fuck… — Heros mumbles, waking up — I'm fine! — Noah lifts his shirt and reveals his bulletproof vest, showing the hole where the bullet was lodged.
I hit his chest because of the scare he gave me.
— Do you want me to have your children sooner than expected? — I confront him, hitting his chest, while tears run down my face.
— Shit, sweet! I wasn't hit, but I'm sore. — He says, holding my hands, which are gripping his shirt. I look at her and see the red stain, the worry on my face. He explains briefly — It's not mine. Luther and I punched some guys before your father and Dostoevsky showed up.
— Don't do that to me anymore. — I lay my face on his chest, crying.
— You shouldn't be here, sweet. You are pregnant, this is dangerous for you and them. — He looks at my belly.
I glare at him angrily, punching him in the chest again.
— I know how to fight and protect myself and our babies. Didn't you see the jump I made? — I joke, still holding his shirt.
— I saw it and was extremely excited. It was a little awkward, especially with my father-in-law so close. — I end up laughing before pressing my lips to his.
— I understand that you are enjoying a special moment, but please give us a little help here. — Lohan asks, not far from us.
Smiling, Heros, gets up, helping me get up too.
— Are you sure you're okay? — I ask him who just nods affirmatively.
I look around me and notice that Noah has tied my father with a rope very tightly to a chair. He remains unconscious with a trail of blood running through his hair.
— I apologize for hitting your dad, baby, but was it that or… — Noah says, coming over to me.
— All good.
— You'd better stay here close to your father and keep an eye on him, so that none of his henchmen try to untie him. — says Heros, and Noah agrees.
I shoot them a stern look, and they both raise their hands in surrender.
We turn to the tumult around us and join the battle.
I advanced towards the men behind Zedekiah, who was already defending himself from two opponents. With a dagger in one hand, he fought the man on his left while twisting the arm of the one on his right. Smiling, I start distributing punches and kicks, joining the fight and doing everything possible to deflect his blows against my belly.
— Linda, although I loved watching you fight, I don't want to risk losing my babies in a premature birth. — Lohan, say to my left side.
I roll my eyes.
I look at Boris, who winks at me and throws a gun that I catch in the air.
But I was feeling so good, fighting with just my fists and kicks, as I look down and see the mess of bodies lying at my feet.
Shrugging my shoulders, I bend down and grab another gun from one of the fallen guys, kicking them in the face again. With two guns in hand, I went out shooting at the men who were crowding around my future husbands.
I'm trying to find Vladimir, but I don't see him anywhere, as well as Luther.
— Zedekiah… Zed! — he watches me after knocking one down and punching another — Can you see Luther and Dostoevsky anywhere?
He looks at the chaos of men fighting and attacking each other. As he stops in a darker corner, I follow his gaze. Luther has the advantage and is leaving Andrey's father's face disfigured, but I know that my godfather will not stop until he is dead and to defend himself he will do everything so that the only one who leaves this fight dead is Luther.
Vladimir holds one of his wrists, trying to relieve the pressure that the brunette puts on his neck nearby. With his other free hand, he searches for something on the floor. That's when I see what he wants so much: a dagger.
Shit!
I'm too far away to scream and be heard by him, it's too noisy in here, I won't be able to. I start running towards them and try to get as close as I can, shooting at the men who get in my way.
Vladimir, manage to get the damn dagger. From where I am, I point my gun and shoot. The bullet hits his hand and he drops the object, but it wasn't my shot, as I shot him in the shoulder. I look to the side where the other shot took place and, through the people exchanging punches, I see Boris. He smiles at me and I return the smile, thanking him.
I return to Luther, seeing him get up and wipe the sweat from his forehead, Vladimir, passed out on the floor.
Run to him, touching all parts of his body to check for any injuries, in addition to his face, eyebrows, and lips. I notice the bloodstains I saw in the previous video and touch them with shaking hands.
— Hey, calm down, my love, I'm fine. — He pulls me close, wrapping me in a tight hug. — You shouldn't be here. You took too much risk.
I hold him tighter in my arms, my belly prevents me from sticking my body completely to his.
— I am fine. We are fine. — I say, holding his shirt tightly — I panicked when I saw you lying down for the camera, with Heros in my father's hands.
— We're fine, we're going to be fine. It's over. — he responds, sealing the moment with kisses on my hair.
I contemplate the fight unfolding behind us, observing the many bodies on the ground, but ours still standing, as well as those of their brothers. We emerged victorious from the confrontation, despite having lost many of our men, and I are having suffered great losses in the former mafia. However, I would do it all again if it meant protecting my little ones and their parents.
Even though I have to go against my family.
— FAINA.
When you hear Lohan and her brothers scream, it's too late. Vladimir, with the dagger in hand, stuck it into the side of my belly, where my vest didn't cover it.
I hear the shot and feel Vladimir's blood splash on us, but it's too late. My knees buckle and I fall with my hand on the wound. Luther looms over me.
— Faina… FAINA.
He picks me up desperately, his blood-stained hands hold my face.
— My babies… save my f… — the sentence is lost as darkness approaches.
