Chapter 162
Alexis tilted her head, resting it against Lynn. “You were so incredible.”
Lynn rolled her eyes. “Incredible? I screamed so loud that if we had neighbors they would have called the law. I probably sounded like a banshee in heat.” She laughed, wincing when the laughter caused her stomach to ache.
Alexis looked up. “I screamed when I gave birth to Calista and I had all kinds of drugs. The doctor had me so doped up I barely remember any of it. The fact you went through that much pain without an epidural makes me even more proud of you. Don’t you ever say you’re not strong because baby you’re like beef jerky, tough and tasty. Very tasty,” she whispered between kisses.
Lynn smirked. “Now there’s an analogy I’ve never heard.” She was painfully aware of every inch of her aching body when she shifted slightly. The soreness that settled between her thighs was by far the worst. “Please tell me you’re not thinking about sex after I just gave birth?”
“Of course not,” Alexis said with a laugh. “I’m actually thinking about baby names. We have two little miracles here and so far no names.”
“I kind of like the name Sheldon.” Lynn glanced up at Alexis.
“Sheldon Feoras. That does have a nice ring to it.” Alexis leaned down, kissing the top of their baby boy’s head. “Looks like you have a name, little one. What about Kenya for this little cutie?” Alexis glanced down at their daughter.
“Kenya Feoras,” Lynn answered with a crinkled nose. “I don’t know.”
“Okay maybe that isn’t the best idea. What about Delaney?”
“Delaney,” Lynn tilted her head. She considered the name when the suckling sounds grew louder. “I love that name!” She giggled when Sheldon released her nipple. Droplets of milk trickled from the corners of his mouth. “I think you’re going to be a big eater, huh little guy?”
“I think they both are. It’s a good thing you have plenty of milk to go around.” Alexis arched one brow when she leered at Lynn’s breasts.
Lynn blushed. “Don’t get any ideas. That milk belongs to our children.” Lynn shifted when Delaney let loose of the other breast. Charlene told her it would take a bit of getting used to with the nursing, especially where her breasts were so sore. Alexis wiped each of the baby’s mouths with a soft cloth while Lynn carefully used one hand to reclose her robe. She kissed Sheldon’s forehead before leaning over to kiss Delaney’s cheek. “I love both of you somuch!”
“We both love you.” Alexis followed suit, kissing each baby, and unable to wipe the giddy smile from her face. “Your momma went through a very long and tedious process so that we could be blessed with your cute little faces.”
“And your mommy was an absolute angel through it all. Even when I was a complete…,” she laughed a little. “Well, let’s just say I wasn’t very nice sometimes.” Lynn sniffled, trying to fight back the tears that surfaced once more. Her emotions were all over the place it seemed. “Thank you,” she whispered when their gazes met. “I know it wasn’t easy but…” she exhaled slowly.
“I wouldn’t change a single second of it.” Alexis cradled Delaney against her chest, reaching over to wipe away Lynn’s tears.
“When we first met I…I would have never dreamed any of this could be possible and now…look at us.” Lynn snuggled Sheldon near, closing her eyes when she slid down in the bed, and relaxed her depleted body against Alexis. “I’m so tired,” she said with a yawn.
“You should get some rest. You didn’t sleep much last night.”
“No,” Lynn whined. “I want to be awake. The baby’s will need fed again soon.” Even though she desperately wanted to force her body to remain alert, she knew it was slowly giving out on her. After sleeping sparsely, and enduring a strenuous labor, she felt as if she could drift off into dreamland for a week at least.
“Don’t argue with me! You need to keep your strength up. These little angels will not need to feed again for about two hours. I promise I will wake you.”
“I’ll sleep, but only if you and the babies stay with me.”
“There’s no place else I’d rather be.” Alexis released a content sigh when Lynn rolled over to face her. With both babies securely between them, Alexis shifted so that she could stroke Lynn’s flushed cheeks. “Go to sleep.”
Lynn had nearly drifted off to sleep when a high-pitched squeal pierced the stillness of the room. She groaned, opening her eyes when Calista and Morgan burst into the door. “So much for sleep,” she mumbled.
