Reunion

Reunion
Fire realm

“Rong.” A handsome middle-aged man, dressed in a black robe, called out as he rushed towards the beautiful woman who was in his view. He spread his arms wide, embracing her in his arms. “Oh my, it's really you.” Tears streamed down his cheeks as he inhaled the long-time scent into his nostrils.

She's really alive and right in front of him. Amos caressed the soft hair in his hand.

He pulled back, looking at that delicate face that didn't seem to have suffered from the passing of time. “You still look as beautiful as ever, dear.”

“You too.” Ring smiled, staring into her husband's eyes. “You haven't aged a bit.”

“Don't flatter me.” Amos chuckled. “My face is already wrinkled with age. I miss you so much, Rong.”

“Me too.”

“Ahem.” The sound of throat clearing interrupted the sweet moment between the couple.

Amos turned his head, realizing that there was another person in the room.

Seeing the slight resemblance to his wife on the other person's face, he opened his eyes wide, turning to his wife in disbelief. “She…” He couldn't complete his sentence due to the shock.

Mom nodded, turning to me with a smile. “Yes, Amos. She's our daughter.”

“Goodness me.” Tears filled Amos's eyes as he moved closer, pulling his daughter into a hug.

This is his daughter. His bloodline.

I stood there transfixed in the arms of a strange man I've barely known for a few minutes.

Well, he shouldn't be called a strange man but instead my biological father.

He seems so different from what I had imagined. He had sharp facial features and a strong build. His appearance also seems younger than his actual age.

What took me by surprise were those eyes of his that were almost the same carbon copy of mine. It's undeniable that he's indeed my biological father.

I raise my hands into the air, not knowing whether to embrace him back or keep them hanging in the air.

But sensing that he wouldn't be parting soon, I could only rest my hand across his back.

“I'm so sorry.” His body trembled as he sobbed. “I'm such an irresponsible father. I should have been there by you and your mother's side. You two must have had it rough out there.”

“It's all in the past now, Amos.” Mom moved over, placing her hand on Dad's shoulder. “Your daughter doesn't blame you.”

“I feel so guilty.” Amos pulled apart, his eyes totally reddened. “I promise to make it up to you two.”

“It's alright. I've never blamed you for your absence. Mom already told me everything about what happened. I do not resent you.” I said, hoping to dispel his guilt-ridden feelings.

“My daughter is so good. Honey, thank you so much for your hard work.” He smiled, holding Mom's hand in his.

The two couples soon commenced another PDA scene. Just when I thought it would continue for a long time, Dad turned to me, asking.

“I sensed two lifeforms in your body. Who's the father of the kids?”

“What?” I was taken aback by his unexpected question.

How did he... Well, isn't it obvious?

He's the immortal king of the fire realm, with abilities capable of seeing through the void. Seeing through the growing fetuses in my womb was no big deal for him.

“It–” Before I could go on with my sentence, Mom cut in.

“We will discuss it during dinner.”

“Alright.” Amos didn't sense anything off with his wife's sentence and smiled. “Let's hold a big welcoming banquet for the reunion of our family.”

Immortal Palace Hall

Vagamound sat on the huge throne at the center of the room. He rested his elbow against the edge of his seat, propping his chin onto his palm as he listened to the words of the immortal elders standing below.

“Lord Vagamound, while you were away, the people from the fire realm bypassed our barrier, causing chaos in several immortal villages. Each villager's chief had sent letters, requesting our support to fix the damage caused by the fire realm.”

“Alright.” Vagamound nodded. “Open the treasury and send relief to each one of the affected villages. Commander Karuga.”

At Vagamound's call, a middle-aged man with a short beard stepped forward and cupped his hand to his chest, bowing in respect. “Yes, my lord.”

Vagamound addressed Karuga, stating his command. “Go station at least a thousand immortal fighters in all parts of the seven realms and make sure to protect the people there from any harm.”

“Yes, my lord.” Karuga lowered his head again before retreating to his standing post.

Once there were no important matters brought forward, Vagamound called for the dismissal of the assembly.

He stood up, heading back to his chamber. On his way there, he couldn't help but think about his wife, Belia.

He missed her so much. How is she doing? He wondered if the food in the fire realm was to her liking. Because of her pregnancy, his wife had become quite pickier with food, so he had to personally cook for her to eat.

Now that she's not here with him, his heart feels so empty.

Vagamound arrived at his room and pushed the door open. As he strode in, he suddenly discovered that there was an unexpected visitor in his room.
