Chapter 148 – Special Day
Cassidy let out a moan as her subconscious filled her head with crazy dreams. She stood in the corner like a fly on the wall as different scenarios played out in front of her. But she was not sure if any of it was real or just an illusion her mind was creating as she slept.
Her heart raced as she watched tender moments of her spending time with a man whose face she couldn’t see, and she was curious about who the mysterious man was in her dreams. Could her subconscious be trying to help her piece together her past?
Her eyes popped open as she looked around her to see where she was. Her brows furrowed as a chill slithered through her from the night air. She felt a nudge and turned to her left. She jumped and quickly relaxed when she recognized the familiar wolf who allowed her to cuddle on his stomach as she stared up at the night sky.
Cassidy sat up and checked her phone to check the time. It was later than she thought it was. “Thank you, friend, for trying to wake me up. It is getting cold out here. I’m glad to know that you are not a dream. Maybe I’ll see you again sometime.” she said as she pressed her lips to the side of his head before getting back up and heading inside the warm house. Cassidy turned to look at the beautiful creature one last time and whispered, “Until we meet again.”
She disappeared into the house, and the lights, one by one, extinguished as she passed through each room until she reached her own.
Jacob shifted back into his human form and leaned against her favorite tree in the backyard. He stared up at her window and watched it until the light went out, and the room went dark.
Teddy and Raymond stepped out of the shadows and stood next to their friend. “How did it go?”
Jacob let out a sigh.
“She trusts my wolf and feels safe when near him. It’s a start. I can’t ask for anything more than that. I need to be patient this time around, and when the moment is right, I will reveal my true self to her.”

Three Months Later…
The day was looking just right as the sun began to set in the softly clouded sky. Cassidy smiled as she watched the colors in the sky turn from blue to purple and saw flecks of oranges and pinks as the sun fell behind the mountains.
It was an important day, and she was relieved the weather was behaving. A shiver raced through her as she pulled her shawl closer to her chest.
“Cassidy?” She heard a masculine voice say from behind her.
She turned to look and saw Teddy, one of Gavin’s friends, calling out her name.
“Yes,” she said with a soft smile.
“Nat’s asking for you.”
Cassidy nodded as she moved back inside the house and headed toward her friend Natalie’s room. When she got to the door, she tapped her knuckle lightly, “Nat, it’s me. Can I come in?” she asked through the door.
Cassidy heard a soft voice from the other side and gently opened the door before slipping inside and closing it behind her.
Cassidy turned toward her redheaded friend, who was standing in front of a mirror in an elegant white form-fitting dress. She sucked in a breath as she stared at her beautiful friend in awe. “Nat, you look radiant,” she told her.
Natalie looked up at her friend through the mirror and smiled. “Really, you think I look okay?”
Cassidy laughed.
“I think you look better than okay,” she assured her.
“I’m just so nervous, and my hands won’t stop shaking,” she said as she tried to shake the anxiety out of her system.
Cassidy walked over, grabbed hold of Nat’s hands, and gave them a gentle squeeze, “You look absolutely breathtaking, and once you get out there, these nervous thoughts are going to rush out of you the moment you see the man you want to spend the rest of your life standing underneath that gazebo waiting for you to meet him up there. You two are meant to be together. I am so happy for you, and I am blessed to be able to share this moment with you.”
Natalie smiled as her eyes filled with tears.
“Don’t cry; you’ll mess up your beautiful makeup. Now, let’s get you downstairs so we can get this ceremony started.”
Natalie pulled Cassidy in for a tight hug.
“Thank you. I know these last few months have not been the easiest for you, but thank you for being here with me on my special day.”
Cassidy smiled. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else than right here, sharing this moment with you.”
