I almost feel bad using Vincent as an example…almost. It was just easier because of our connection and his aloof reputation. Now Gran knows the power of this haze and maybe she can help uncover why it is so different.
I take Vincent's hand and lead him
out to the woods to the lake, I swam in last night.
He grips my hand tightly as he looks into my eyes, “Eva, it is hard to fight this.”
I know that it must be for him to admit any weakness, but we need to learn what the limit of endurance is. Or at least I want to learn it.
“Just a bit longer,” I tell him as I start removing our clothes. I fold them neatly as I turn to him. I bite my finger to draw blood. I put it into his mouth as I bite his neck. He picks me up and within an
instant, we are up to our chests in
the water.
I gasped, “Vincent, your powers worked fully in the daylight!” It was only a hunch but this confirms it. There's something about my blood and his too I think. His tastes like cinnamon and spice, I need to discover if that's normal. My gut instinct says that it is far from normal.
“Huh?” he answers as his eyes swirl faster.
“Fight it for a second,” I demand.
“Mmm, hmm,” he mutters.
I decided to talk quickly, “I blinked and we were here.”
“Does that mean?” he asks.
I take his finger and bite it to draw
blood. His blood still tastes like
cinnamon and spice and stronger now too but I'm not gonna tell him that.
“Look how fast it healed,” I say as we watched it close without even blinking.
“I wonder how long it will last?” he asks.
“Don’t know, but I think it's my blood,” I say.
He sighs, “You know what this means.”
I nod, “We can't tell anyone.”
“Yes because all vampires
would want your blood,” he says as he kisses me.
I pull away, “Maybe it only works on my
mates.”
“Let’s hope,” he mutters as his eyes flash and the swirling intensifies even more.
He pulls me as close as he can, “I want you now, Eva.”
“Then take me, my love,” I whisper as I bite his ear. I have never been so sexually free as I am now. Yes, I have tried a few things but nothing like as I am willing to now. Everything just feels so natural with my guys as if we have done this in a past life. Not all of them at once like now, but I feel as if I have loved each of them before.
He kisses me. It's like a raging storm of want and need teetering on pain. I almost made him wait too long, I think. He lines up with my entrance and then thrusts inside. We both cry out each other's names.
Now I'm hazed. I feel everything. I feel connected with the cosmos like I could literally destroy a world or create one.
We bite each other's necks and consume a bit of blood as he pounds into me.
The pace is fast and furious but exquisite and indescribable. Being with Vincent like this makes me feel powerful, like nothing could stop us if we're together. I love this man. He is my world now. He is my home.
After what seems like an hour or so,
we make our way to the shore. “exaresco,” I say as bursts of hot air dry us off before we dress.
“More Harry Potter?” he asks.
I smile, “No Alexandra Quick series.”
I chuckles, “You're just a repository for
media aren't you?”
I shrug, “Journalist that reads way too
much.”
He pulls me close and kisses me tenderly, “Consider becoming a vampire and living with me for eternity if you aren't eternal already.”
I give him a quick Peck on the lips, “We have too much to do to worry about that right now. But when things slow down,
I'll consider it.”
“I love you, Eva,” he says as he gazes into my eyes.
I smile because I feel it. I feel everything, “I love you too, Vincent.”
We kiss deeply and that electric current is back. This has to be just how his inner power mingles with mine. We aren't hazed, it's just us like it was before all of this happened.
After we adjust our clothing, walk back to the pack house where Katie greets us, “All better?”
I nod, “He’s fine.”
She jokes, “Well that's a given.”
“Katie!” I exclaim because I'm still not comfortable talking about my sex life.
“I'm just glad you're getting some and on the regular no less,” she teases.
I facepalm.
Stephen tries to hold back a laugh, “It's kinda funny.”
I shake my head, “No, it is not.”
“Son, you'll be hazing this season and you'll learn it's not all fun and games. You only have to worry about one mate,” Simon informs Stephen.
Chris adds, “Your Aunt has three.”
I sigh, “Don’t remind me.”
They all laugh at my dismay. We are a family and I love it even if they tease me.
Gran says, “Your bags are packed, dearie.”
I smile, “Thanks for doing that.”
“We had time,” Sam huffs.
Men, I swear and they say that we females are moody. I glare at Sam, “Don't you start! Like you didn't take detours to get here.”
He gives me a naughty, cocky look, “Oh, there will be some on the way back too.”
Katie squeals, “Girl!”
I look at her, “Just don't.”
We say our goodbyes and head
home. We chat along the way too.
“You thought of home,” Vincent says with a sly smile.
I decide to be open and admit how I feel, “Yes we are going home!”
The smile that beams from his face is so angelic that it brings a tear to my eye as my heart just melts.
————Vincent’s POV———
Home, she openly said home. I will revisit the eternity conversation with her soon. I know she wants to be with me, she's just scared. I will ask her to marry me. That should be easier for her to accept since she has a human mindset and identifies with them. I want a life with her and I have never felt that way about anyone not even my human wife. I married her out of duty, I want to marry Eva.
I want to surprise her too. I will have to
be sneaky about finding a ring and keep these thoughts to myself. Eva, you have done the impossible you made my heart beat again because my heart died long ago. You, Eva, are my heart.
