EB Chapter 64 Part 7
Eva
Finally, Vincent. He was the most subtle, the most refined, and perhaps the most dangerous because he kept his cards so close to his chest. He would be the hardest nut to crack. I found him in his personal studio, He sat in a high-backed armchair, a glass of amber liquid in his hand, a classical music piece playing softly in the background. His shoulder-length curly black hair framed his elegant features, and his blue eyes, usually holding a quiet intensity, were currently unfocused, lost in thought.
"A penny for your thoughts, my love?" I asked, my voice soft, not wanting to startle him from his reverie.
He stirred, his eyes slowly focusing on me. A gentle smile, rare and genuine, touched his lips. "Eva. Come in. I was merely contemplating the complexities of existence."
"Or the complexities of orchestrating a secret event behind your pregnant mate's back?" I quipped, walking across the plush rug to stand beside his chair. The music, a delicate violin piece, seemed to fill the air with unspoken emotions.
He chuckled, a low, melodious sound. "You are truly a force of nature, aren't you? Ever curious. Ever discerning." He gestured to the armchair opposite him. "Please, sit."
I settled into the soft velvet, crossing my legs. "I've spoken to Brandon, Bael, Sam, and Vlad. Each of them, in their own unique way, has given me hints. Brandon mentioned a 'new era' and a 'formal acknowledgement'. Bael spoke of a 'convergence' and a 'declaration'. Sam hinted at an 'ascendance' and a 'display'. And Vlad, true to form, proudly proclaimed it an 'unveiling' and an 'assertion of our reign'. Now, Vincent, I come to you. The most enigmatic of them all. What, precisely, are we planning?"
He took a slow sip of his drink, his eyes unreadable. "A celebration, Eva. A momentous occasion. A recognition of a new beginning."
"New beginnings for whom?" I pressed, my voice calm but insistent. "For us? For the supernatural world? For the entire cosmos?"
He set his glass down, his gaze unwavering. "For all of it, my dear. The world as we knew it, the old hierarchies, the established powers… they are shifting. And you, and our children, are the catalysts for this profound transformation."
"A profound transformation," I repeated, the words settling deep within me. This was it. The big picture. "So this 'baby shower' is actually a global event. A pivotal moment. A turning point."
"Indeed." His voice was quiet, yet it held immense gravitas. "A turning point that will redefine the very fabric of existence. It is not merely a celebration of life, though it is certainly that. It is a re-calibration. A statement of our collective strength, our unity, and the dawn of a new age where we, the gods, stand at the forefront."
"The dawn of a new age," I whispered, a shiver of awe and apprehension running through me. This was bigger than I could have imagined. "And you're all doing this… for me? For us?"
"Always for you," he said, his eyes softening, a deep affection swirling within their depths. "You brought us together, Eva. You opened our eyes to the true extent of our power. You anchored us. Without you, none of this would be possible." He reached out, taking my hand in his, his touch cool and reassuring. "This event is a testament to your power, to your enduring spirit. It is a public declaration of your status, your children's status, and our collective might. A formal acknowledgment that the world has changed. And we are the ones who have changed it."
"A formal acknowledgment," I murmured, my thumb stroking the back of his hand. "So it's not just a secret among us. It's for everyone. The world will know."
"The world will know," he confirmed, his voice holding a note of quiet triumph. "Every creature, every being, every god and mortal, will understand the new order. There will be no room for doubt, no opportunity for dissent. It will be an unequivocal statement."
"An unequivocal statement," I repeated, a thrill running through me. This was the true scope of their plans. "And what will this 'unequivocal statement' entail, Vincent? Grand ceremonies? Divine decrees? A planetary alignment?"
He smiled, a rare, genuine smile that lit up his eyes. "Something far more profound, my love. Something that will resonate through time and space. A demonstration of power, yes, but also a declaration of unity. A new beginning, forged in love and strength." He squeezed my hand gently. "And you, Eva, will be the central figure in this grand design. The undisputed queen of this new age."
He leaned in, his gaze intense, captivating. "Are you satisfied, my curious goddess? Have your questions been answered?"
"More than answered," I breathed, feeling a profound shift within me. The pieces had finally clicked into place. "You've all done very well, keeping this from me. But I understand now. And it's… magnificent."
He chuckled, a low, pleased sound. "We aimed for magnificent. And now that you know, perhaps you will allow us to prepare without further… interrogations?"
"Perhaps," I said, a mischievous glint in my eyes. I stood, pulling him up with me. "But you know I'll always be curious. And always pushing for more. Just as you always are, my dark intellectual." I leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "Thank you, Vincent. For the truth. And for this… incredible future you're all building."
I left his study, the faint strains of classical music following me. My mates. My gods. They weren't just planning a baby shower. They were planning a coronation. A global declaration. A profound transformation. The dawn of a new age, with me at its very heart. And I, for one, was ready for the show. I still think that there will be a wedding or two, but I won’t push for details. Eric was right, it will be a good surprise!
