Chapter 55 Part 2
Eva
She stands at the edge of the forest, her figure shrouded in shadows. Her eyes glow with an otherworldly light, her power palpable. Morgan and Agnes are with her, their glamours holding strong. I hope they can keep up the charade, hope that Raven doesn’t see through the deception. My stomach churns with anxiety as I watch them interact, every word and gesture a potential trigger for disaster.
Brandon steps forward, his movements confident, his voice steady. “Raven,” he says, his tone neutral. “We’ve come to talk.”
Raven’s lips curl into a smirk, her eyes narrowing. “Talk?” she says, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Or have you finally come to beg for mercy?” Her words are like a slap, a reminder of her arrogance and the depth of her hatred for us.
Brandon’s expression doesn’t falter. “We’re not here to beg,” he says, his voice low. “We’re here to offer you a choice. Surrender, and we’ll spare your life. Resist, and you’ll face the consequences.”
I linked to him. ‘Brandon, that wasn't the plan. You were to pretend to betray Cassius and the White Witch. There's no going back now. Be careful. I love you.’
Raven laughs, the sound echoing through the night, cold and mocking. “Spare my life?” she says, her voice laced with disdain. “You’re in no position to make demands, Brandon. You’re outmatched, outgunned. And you know it.”
Fuck! I step forward, my presence a silent warning. “Don’t test us, Raven,” I say, my voice steady, though my heart is racing. “We’re not the same people you once knew. We’ve changed. And we won’t hesitate to destroy you if you force our hand.”
Raven’s eyes flicker to me, her expression hardening. “Eva, I know you far better than you think,” she says, her voice low, almost intimate. “You’re always the manipulator, but you can’t control everything. And you can’t protect them all.”
Her words strike a chord, the truth behind them a dagger in my heart. She knows my weakness, my love for those around me. I can’t protect them all, but I’ll die trying. I also have faith in those standing with me. If I can't protect them, they will protect each other!
Raven’s eyes narrow, her power building. I can feel it, a dark force gathering at the edge of my senses. She’s testing us, pushing us to see how far we’ll go. My hands clench into fists, my nails digging into my palms as I fight the urge to strike first. I have to play weak. I have to play into her ego.
Brandon steps forward, his movements deliberate. “This is your last chance, Raven,” he says, his voice low, dangerous. “Surrender, or face the consequences.”
Raven’s lips curl into a smirk, her eyes glowing with malicious intent. “Consequences?” she says, her voice mocking. “Bring it on.” We know that she will call As
The air explodes with energy as Raven attacks, her power surging forward in a wave of darkness. Brandon moves with preternatural speed, his body a blur as he dodges the assault. Sam transforms, his werewolf form erupting from his skin, his claws slicing through the shadows. The sound of his transformation is primal, a mix of snapping bones and tearing flesh that sends shivers down my spine. None of his shifts were like this. I hate seeing him so feral, but we have no other choice.
Vlad summons fire, the flames engulfing the darkness, their light a beacon in the night. The heat washes over me, a stark contrast to the cold fear in my chest. I step forward, my power building, my magic surging through my veins. I’m a goddess, a shapeshifter, a witch. I am creation and destruction. I am fate. I won’t let Raven destroy everything I’ve fought for. My hands glow with energy as I weave a spell, the air around me crackling with electricity.
Vincent manipulates the air around us, his power, the electric force complements the light. Bael summons the darkness, his energy a crushing weight that bears down on Raven. Eric’s magic flares, his prophetic visions guiding our movements, his spells a shield against the darkness.
But Raven is strong, her power immense. She fights with a ferocity that’s both impressive and terrifying. Her attacks are relentless, her magic a force to be reckoned with. I feel the strain, my energy waning as I push myself to the limit. Sweat drips down my back, and my muscles burn, but I can’t stop. Not now. Not ever.
