Eternally Bound Chapter 16: Gran’s Shroud

My group woke up, showered, and dressed before we met the others in the living room. We are taking Morgan and Gabe with us. The rest will need to stay here. We aren't going to bother driving which I know will make Vlad immensely happy. He still needs to tell me why he hates cars so much too. I know that the others will be safe and that Raven probably won't try anything until it gets closer to nightfall. Something tells me that she needs the power of the moon, but I don't because apparently my mother created it. She helped create most everything as she was creation. It's no wonder that the angels disliked her as she was capable of things they could never do.

Sam sighs, “Eva, we can wait a few more days.”

We could but the worry that Gran lied or kept something from Sam will eat away at him and I can't bear that. I won't allow anything to diminish his light. “I know, but the longer we wait the more we will speculate and I would rather try to learn the truth so that we can stay ahead of Raven.”

Vincent looks at me with concern, “The Haze.”

“Yeah, I know we can't control it or even predict it right now.”

Morgan thinks for a second, “It could be the moon's influence.”

I wish it were that simple. I wish all of this could be linked to and blamed on the moon, but I know that it can't.

Sam shakes his head, “It shouldn't be because of the moon because she is with pups. The power of the full moon Haze is supposed to lesson after conception, not intensify as it has with us.”

Eric shrugs, “Don't look at me, Morgan. Vampires don't Haze. From my research, even born vampires who are true mates don't Haze but are likely to conceive during a full moon.”

Levi looks at everyone and then Morgan, “Like I told Vlad, Eva is the perfect weapon. Some weapons need ammunition,” He looks around and motions with his hand, “We are her ammunition.”

Katie smiles, “Go and hurry back. If the others come by, I will let them know that you will be back soon.”

Amira nods, “All will be safe here. Keep your eyes open though.”

Eric says, “We always try to. Sam, did you message your pack to meet us?”

Sam replies, “We will meet in Gran's office. It will be just her and my brothers. Mike will keep the rest of the packs away.”

“Has there been any word on Dalton?”

Sam nods, “Simon says that he has been around but distant. He told me that Dalton asked when we were due back too.”

“Is that so,” I say with a smirk.

Vlad says, “He will alert Raven.”

My smirk widens, “I am counting on it, but you all need to stay hidden. Just allow him to think that Sam and I travel alone.”

Gabriel nods, “I can hide them but I can put a tracker on him too.”

“What?”

Gabriel explains, “I am sure that you are familiar with the myth of guardian angels, right?” I nod and he continues, “They place a tracking spell on their charges and that's how they are able to locate them so quickly to rescue or advise them.”

“Could I learn to do that?”

Gabriel nods, “Yes and Cassius you could too.”

“Would anyone suspect it?”

He laughs, “No, because the angels stopped doing it eight hundred years ago around the same time they stopped visiting Earth.”

“I don't understand any of this, I am sorry.”

In a fatherly gesture, Gabriel puts his hand on my shoulder, “Your soul is extremely old. It has been dormant for a long time. So it makes sense that a lot of this isn't understood. Your mother and father risked everything to bring you physically into existence this time. The same sacrifice that was made to bring Cassius and Elena physically into this realm. You are all bits of creation. You three are the first children of some of the original gods of Earth. No terrestrial being can detect angelic magic. Now a demon could, but it appears that Raven is having issues contacting some though.”

I gasp, “Mormo.”

He chuckles, “I suspect so. He will protect you and your sister for as long as he is able to. Now let's go so that I can see if your Gran is shrouded.”

“Can you lift it?”

He puts his hand on my back, “I can't but we can.”

Sam looks around resolutely, “Let's go then because I need to know if I am the only Fall destined to be a god and why.”
