“Her soul, she gifted her soul!” I repeated. I understand what would drive a person to make such a sacrifice because I am standing amongst those whom I would obliterate mine for. But I can't shake the feeling that she didn't obliterate hers but fractured it. When Sam and I mated, we fused her soul back together.
Morgan gasps, “It can’t be, can it?”
“Morgan, you were drawn here. You have always been understanding and playful around Sam more so than the others too. When you saw my wolf you bonded to me. You did that because you felt your mate's soul. She's here in Sam and I, I just know it. I will restore her.”
Levi gives me a stern look, “Eva, you can't do that.”
“Why? I can bring back the dead.”
Levi explains sadly, “The dead still had living souls. Her soul is truly gone.”
“There has to be a way! ‘One small crack does not mean you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn't fall apart.’ -Linda Poindexter. What if she merely fractured her soul?”
Gabriel shakes his head, “Eva, there would have to be large pieces left and even then they might never fuse together again.”
“Even if we found all of the pieces and with all of our magic?”
Levi nods, “Yes, even then.”
“I'm sorry, Morgan.” But I am not ready to abandon all hope as they are. Love is magic if you believe in it and I am fully starting to believe in its power. My love for my mates and theirs for me brought back the lost. If we can do that, we can bring back The White Wolf too.
Morgan says, “Don't be. It took a long time, but I came to terms that she would never return.”
Venus and Amira groan as they fall to the ground. We rush over to them. “Morgan, what's wrong?” Their color begins to fade.
Amira utters one word, “Raven,” before she loses consciousness.
Morgan rubs them, “They are linked to their people and beings who are similar to them. Raven must be draining some. That's all I can think of.”
“We only just brought them back. She can't have caught any yet!”
Eric comes over to me. He puts one hand on Cassius's shoulder and he takes my hand with his other. His eyes glaze over for a few moments, “She doesn't have any of them but she does have many beings imprisoned, some I can't tell what they are either. There is a coven of five witches with her too. I had never seen them before but their energies felt familiar. She had an amulet that was glowing as well.”
Agnes gasps, “She's trying to find those pieces of the White Wolf's soul!”
Morgan nods, “By taking all that she can.”
“There has to be a way to stop her and free at least some of them before she kills them.”
Levi nods, “There is.”
Vincent snaps, “And this is where I say no!”
Vlad huffs, “Hear him out.”
Vincent retorts, “You're the one that brought a Worldeater here. What do you think he's going to suggest? Sending her flowers and a card asking her to be nice?”
“Would you both stop! I can't let innocents die so I'm going to do whatever I can.”
Levi says, “Then use me to take their souls.”
“I won't let them die that way either!”
Levi explains, “I'm not going to keep their souls, you are.”
“And do what?”
Gabriel adds, “Store them until she abandons this part of her plan and dumps the bodies. Then you can restore their souls as you restored me.”
Vincent sighs, “Fine, maybe this plan will work but I still don't trust a Leviathan.”
Levi looks from Vincent to me, “I don't need your trust. I only need the trust of the goddess that freed me. Be happy that you are her mate.”
Sam chuckles, “Yeah, he has that effect on most of us too.”
