Caught red-handed
Caught red-handed
Thalia's POV
My hand flew to my mouth. In front of me lay the unconscious Jax with medical tubes connected to his body.
“How did this happen?” I asked aloud because I knew all of them were behind me.
Suddenly Rhys came beside me. “Thalia, get up,” he said in a low voice. As he pulled me up.
Then he continued, “You have to calm down.” he said holding my hand.
But I shook my head and pulled my hand away from him. How could he expect me to calm down in this kind of situation?
I walked slowly until I got to where Jax was. “Jax,” I called gently as tears dropped from my eyes.
How did this happen? Who did this to him? Was it Savena? And why did he have to risk his life like that? I kept asking questions in my head.
The more I saw his pale face, the more tears gushed out of my eyes. I sniffed because, at this point, tears had blurred my vision.
I didn’t even know everyone had gone out until I sat on the chair beside the bed, my gaze never leaving him.
My heart ached so much it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest.
I raised my trembling hand and held his, then I bent and placed his hand on my face. “You have to wake up for me, Jax,” I whispered in tears.
I sat in the same position staring at his pale face while crying.
Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me. “He is not going to die, you know,” Milo’s voice echoed in the silent room.
I didn’t even look at him. “Then why is he not waking up?” I asked, still staring at Jax.
I really wished I could wake him up right now. But I knew I couldn't. And the thought that I couldn’t make my eyes water as I placed my head down.
My shoulders shook as I cried harder. Even when I felt Milo’s hand on my shoulder, I didn’t stop.
And I was glad Milo let me cry to my satisfaction. When I was done, I raised my head, looked at Jax, then shifted my gaze to Milo, who stood watching me.
“You look like shit,” Milo said with a frown. I placed my hand on my face, glaring at him.
“Come, you need to freshen up and eat,” he said as he placed his hand on mine, pulling me up.
I halted before he dragged me out. “Wait,” I stopped him as my gaze went back to Jax. “Who would watch after him when we leave?” I asked, staring at Milo.
However, Milo just sighed. “I hope you remember he is a werewolf, right?” Milo asked, watching me closely.
I blinked at him. I knew he was a werewolf. That was why he was still alive. But that didn’t mean his injury wasn’t severe.
“I know Milo, but I’m worried. Can’t you see how pale he looks?” I said, pointing at Jax’s face.
Milo rubbed his face. “Then you should have seen him the moment he just got shot,” Milo blurted.
My eyes widened at how blunt Milo could be. Why would he say that? Also, I knew Jax would be fine but a part of me still felt hurt seeing him laying helplessly with a medical tube connected to his body.
“Don’t you se...” I didn’t finish my statement when Milo placed a hand on my lips.
“The doctor said he would probably wake up tomorrow, so you don’t have to worry,” he said in a calm voice. Then he patted my shoulder before dragging me out.
When we finally got to the entrance of my room, Milo stopped in front of my door.
“I will come and get you in the next thirty minutes,” with that being said, he walked out.
I watched him walking away, till he disappeared down the corridor. I clamped my hands together and took a shaky breath before entering my room. My heart couldn’t stop racing.
I missed my room so much, yet I didn’t really feel excited the way I thought I would. I missed everything at home, but knowing someone I loved was in a coma made all the excitement die instantly.
I made my way to the restroom. I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. That was when I realized Milo wasn’t lying. I really do look like shit.
My eyes were puffy and red, and to make things worse, I had a runny nose too.
With slumped shoulders, I walked to the bathtub. I needed to wash my hair before taking a bath.
When I finally take a good bath. I walked out, went to the closet, and picked out a dress before proceeding to blow-dry my hair.
After blow-drying, I packed my hair into a messy bun, something I hadn’t done in a long time.
When I was done, I made my way outside, and I happened to meet Milo outside my door, standing with his legs crossed.
My brows furrowed. “Why didn’t you come in?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
But he just laughed it off. “We might end up taking longer than expected if I had come in,” Milo said indifferently as he walked ahead.
My mouth opened when I realized what he meant. Even in a situation like this, naughty thoughts still crossed his mind?
I followed Milo to the living room. I frowned when I saw him taking a seat.
“Aren’t we supposed to go and eat?” I asked him, but he just waved for me to come to where he was.
I took a sharp breath before walking to him. “Sit,” he said, patting the space beside him.
I pouted before sitting and glaring at him. Milo turned and looked at me.
Then he sighed. “We have to wait till Rhys is done cooking,” he said.
I nodded. I would just have to wait. Then after eating, I would go and check on Jax. With that thought, I laid back on the chair.
“Did you not miss me?” Milo suddenly asked, staring at me.
I raised my brow. “What makes you think so?” I asked, folding my hands.
“I know Jax is not too well, and we both know he will be fine. But I feel like you’re pushing me away,” Milo said in a low voice and serious expression.
My eyes widened. Why would he think I was pushing him away? I sighed as I rubbed my forehead.
I sat upright while holding Milo's gaze, “I missed you so much, and I would never push or forsake you,” I said with a serious tone.
I saw him smile as he moved closer to me. “Really?” he asked as he placed his hand on mine.
I nodded. “Yes, really. I love you, so why would I do that to you?” I said while smiling at him.
One thing I had noticed about Milo was how much he loved reassurance.
“Then kiss me if you mean it,” he said, smiling at me.
I wanted to refuse, but the way he smiled made my heart flutter. So I moved closer and placed my lips on his.
And I really wanted to just peck him, but it seemed Milo had other plans with the way he held my head and slid his tongue into my mouth.
His hands were already roaming my body. Until they settled on my boobs, he massaged it softly, I was about to moan when I heard my name.
“THALIA!!” The voice thundered through the room, making me move away from Milo instantly.
My eyes widened when I saw who was standing at the door, my m
other. Wait, what the hell was she doing here?
I swallowed because I knew for a fact that she caught me red handed.
