Chapter 72 No More Nightmares

I quickly clamped my hand over her mouth, worried she might say something to tick off Eric.

Luckily, he just gave her a quick, uninterested glance.

Seeing he wasn't mad, I let out a breath of relief and took my hand away.

Eric's looks could easily outshine most guys, but I didn't dare flaunt it because of his fickle nature.

Still, when Amelia started gushing, I couldn't help but whisper, "Isn't he hotter than all the movie stars?"

Amelia nodded without missing a beat.

My ego swelled instantly. I rubbed my hands together, grinning. But before I could say anything, Amelia stepped up to Eric.

She bowed politely and said, "Hi, I'm Emily's friend Amelia. Thanks for saving me. If you ever need anything, I'm here. You guys are my heroes. If you have any questions about Emily, just ask. From now on, I'm the president of your fan club. If anyone says you shouldn't be together, I'll shut them up. I'll be the guardian of your love."

She blurted it all out in one breath.

I was floored, totally stunned.

Before Eric could blow up, I yanked Amelia back.

I hissed in her ear, "Are you nuts? What are you saying? You're embarrassing me."

Amelia shrugged, "Can't you see? I'm showing my loyalty."

I glared at her. "He's good-looking, but he doesn't appreciate nonsense being spoken in his presence. If he gets angry, it won't end well."

To scare her, I made a throat-slitting gesture.

Amelia froze and quickly covered her mouth.

But that only lasted a second before she said, "Even if he's tough, he can protect you. At least you don't have to worry about getting bullied."

I couldn't argue with that. Eric was definitely strong.

Eric stood there, watching us. Thankfully, he didn't say much, just looked a bit stiff.

"Calm down," he finally said after a few minutes.

Amelia squeezed my arm, even less scared. "He doesn't seem as scary as you said. I think he's okay."

I pinched her hand, trying to shut her up.

Before Eric could get mad, I quickly said, "It's late. I should take her back to school. My roommates might report to the dean."

I was about to leave when Eric and Jonathan both called out.

"Wait."

"Hold up."

I turned back slowly. "What now?"

Jonathan stepped forward and handed me a small bottle. "Give this to your friend. It'll keep her clear-headed for at least seven days and stop the nightmares. As long as she stays awake, she'll be fine."

I looked at the bottle, feeling conflicted.

Eric had just said he didn't like outsiders around. But Jonathan gave the medicine anyway.

I thought, 'Eric's got a tough exterior but a soft heart.'

I started to say, "Thanks, Jonathan, thank..."

Before I could finish, Amelia snatched the bottle, looking thrilled.

"Wow, Jonathan is awesome. Can I get more of this stuff? It'll help me stay up all night leveling up." She looked at Jonathan with hopeful eyes, but he just rolled his eyes.

"Can I add you on Facebook? That way, we can stay in touch if anything comes up," Amelia said, handing her phone to Jonathan with a grin.

Seeing her act like that made me furious. I couldn't let Amelia stay there any longer. I grabbed her hand and dragged her to the car.

As I started the engine, I thought I heard Eric chuckle. It sounded a bit mocking.

Once we were out of the villa area, I glanced at Amelia.

"You've got some nerve. Now, after seeing him once, you've changed your tune. That's not like you at all."

Amelia took a sip of water and pouted. "Emily! How can you say that? You said the guy was emotionally unstable, so I said something nice to keep him calm for you, to stop him from getting mad and affecting you. You've never been in a relationship, but I have experience. I can teach you."

Her mood seemed to drop as she spoke.

Amelia pouted, looking a bit frustrated. "Emily, do you think my boyfriend is really a bad person? Is he working with those people to hurt me? But I don't think he's that kind of person. I think he loves me." She picked at her fingers, looking more and more troubled.

I handed her the medicine Eric gave me and said, "No matter what kind of person he is, take care of yourself first. Seven days without sleep won't kill you. Then we can figure out if your boyfriend is good or bad. Plus, we can deal with the bad guy behind all this."

Amelia opened the bottle and tilted her head back to swallow the medicine. Then she continued, "Can't you ask Jonathan for a bit more?"

I rolled my eyes at her, feeling exasperated.

After dropping Amelia off at school, I reminded her about her boyfriend.

I quickly headed back to the villa.

While waiting at a red light, I suddenly thought of the serial killer Willie mentioned.

Even though I didn't know her motive, it still scared me a bit.

Willie was investigating this person, and I wanted to tell Eric about it.

I muttered, "Willie said he was investigating the murder of a seafood tycoon's daughter. Didn't Eric and I also go to a seafood tycoon's house? It can't be a coincidence, right?"

I connected the dots and felt increasingly uneasy.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt these things were deliberately orchestrated.

Just as the light turned green, I was about to drive through when it turned red again.

A chill ran down my spine, and I suddenly felt something was very wrong.

The rear tire of the car suddenly acted up. Seeing the red mark on the screen, I felt a chill on my scalp.

At that moment, I was hesitant to get out. However, I couldn't leave without checking the tire.

Holding my phone and turning on the flashlight, I cautiously got out.

I quickly walked to the rear tire. Just as I squatted down, a shadow appeared on the ground.

I was enveloped in the shadow, looking at the figure behind me. I was scared pale.
