Chapter 59 The Perverted Man

Upon arriving home, I plugged in my phone to charge, and suddenly, two friend requests popped up: one from Willie and the other from Roy!

Roy again. That jerk had the nerve to add me?

Without even thinking, I rejected his request and accepted Willie's right away.

Before I could block Roy, he bombarded me with several friend requests, each with a long, annoying message.

[Nice ring, huh? I spent a fortune getting it custom-made. It matches the one on my hand.]

[Even though your stuff is great, since I've decided to pursue you, I should treat you well and protect you.]

[Why reject me? You're being a bit naughty.]

[It seems like you're not interested in the antidote. From what I understand, time is running out for you. Are you certain you want to join me so soon?]

I brushed off the earlier messages as torment, but the last one got me serious.

He knew I was poisoned. Could he know what kind of poison it was?

I hesitated for a long time, but in the end, for the sake of my life, I accepted his friend request.

Anyway, Eric had been by my side recently, so Roy couldn't do anything to me.

The instant I accepted his friend request, a strange mix of guilt and fear washed over me, as I pondered whether Eric would get angry if he discovered.

I stole a glance at Eric. He was leaning against the pillow, breathing steadily, having drifted off to sleep at some point.

I carefully looked at him several times, my gaze falling on the large gap between us.

Eric rarely held me while sleeping. Despite not being accustomed to it, being held by him provided me with an indescribable sense of security.

I sighed, forcibly suppressing the unhappy feelings in my heart.

Although I no longer resisted Eric and planned to get along with him seriously, he seemed unwilling.

Eric had lived so long; he must have had someone he liked. Maybe he even had a first love he couldn't forget.

The more I thought about it, the more my heart felt blocked.

My nose tingled, and tears welled up in my eyes. Hastily, I wiped them away, avoiding delving deeper into my thoughts.

When I calmed down, I noticed a few more messages on my phone.

Roy requested to meet me tomorrow and emphasized keeping it a secret. He was simply afraid that Eric would beat him up.

I immediately replied: [No way.]

Roy replied, [Think it over, Emily. No one in this world dares to reject me. For now, you're the first, so here's a little punishment for you.]

His disgusting words made my scalp tingle.

I sent several question marks, only to find I had been deleted.

Roy actually deleted me. This jerk was testing my limits, daring to delete me. I thought Roy had really gone mad.

I threw my phone aside, my big eyes staring at the ceiling.

The room was silent, and I could clearly hear Eric's breathing.

But before I could sneak a peek, he started trembling all over.

I was startled and looked over to see beads of sweat on his forehead.

He was shaking violently; something was wrong.

I quickly got up and pulled back the covers.

Eric's robe was soaked with cold sweat. When I touched his forehead, the scorching temperature burned my hand.

"Eric, what's wrong? Don't scare me." I shook his arm back and forth, noticing the thin black lines on the back of his neck.

They had never appeared before, but now, every time he trembled, the black lines became more pronounced.

I attempted to remain composed and gripped his arm tightly. The moment my fingers brushed against those dark lines, it felt as though my hand was engulfed in flames.

I thought, 'If this keeps up, Eric's gonna be tortured to death.'

Sweating bullets, I jumped out of bed.

Barefoot, I sprinted to Jonathan's room. "Jonathan, Jonathan, something's wrong with Eric."

Jonathan yanked open the door, looking even worse than I did.

Without a word, Jonathan rushed to the master bedroom. Seeing Eric's condition, he tore off his clothes.

I saw the black lines all over Eric's body. The closer to his heart, the darker the lines.

It was like these black lines were trying to strangle his heart, suffocating him.

"It's happening earlier than expected." Jonathan checked his pulse, his face dark and scary.

I didn't dare say much, pacing back and forth anxiously.

Jonathan glared at me and quickly said, "Stop pacing. Go get the tea I told you to drink this morning and feed it to him."

Hearing this, I quickly brought the tea over.

"But he definitely won't drink it." I looked at Eric struggling, feeling heartbroken.

"Feed him with your mouth!" Jonathan swiftly took out a couple of pills from his pocket and forcefully inserted them into Eric's mouth.

Seeing the pills about to be spat out, I quickly took a big sip of tea.

For Eric's safety, I didn't care that Jonathan was there and kissed him directly.

The warm tea slowly went down, and Eric's lips moved slightly.

Making sure he swallowed the pills, I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as I was about to pull away, Eric bit my lip hard.

It hurt so much. I gasped, tasting blood in my mouth.

Jonathan glanced at me and handed me a pill, "This guy is troublesome even when unconscious. Take this pill; it will temporarily stop the bleeding."

But the wound might last for a while.

I swallowed the pill and nervously looked at Jonathan, "What about Eric? Is he okay?"

Eric had always been invincible, never showing such a vulnerable side. The black lines on his body made my scalp tingle and my heart ache.

Jonathan stared at Eric for a long time, then sighed deeply.

"Let him rest first. Let's talk outside."

I immediately followed Jonathan.

In the living room, Jonathan drank a whole pot of tea before he looked somewhat better.

He leaned against the sofa, his face still pale. "Do you want to know about Eric's past?"

I nodded without hesitation.

Jonathan nodded, "Those black lines are a curse, a form of punishment for him. During those three days each month when he vanishes, it's a time of torment, making him yearn for death."

No wonder he was gone those days. But this time, it happened earlier.

I quickly looked at Jonathan, "But it's not mid-month yet. Did it happen because he came back early last time? Did he forcibly suppress the curse? What are the consequences? Will the curse's backlash be unbearable for him?"

A series of questions made Jonathan a bit helpless. He sighed again, "You're right. He suppressed the curse early, so this punishment came much earlier and is much harsher."

My heart tightened. "Why did he do that?"

Jonathan looked at me, "What do you think?"

I froze, already knowing the answer. It was for me. Eric had already told me this when he came back.

Jonathan said, "He may have a sharp tongue, but he cares about you more than anyone, afraid you'll be deceived and get hurt."

Jonathan shook his head and said no more.
