HER BROKEN TRUST

HER BROKEN TRUST
With a trembling voice, she took a step back, a plea in her eyes. "No, Please I can’t. Please don’t come near me, don’t make me addicted to you again. If this time you leave me, I will die. I am already shattered now; I will die," she said, her words choked with anguish.

She turned to leave, her resolve wavering like a fragile dam on the verge of breaking. But before she could escape, he enveloped her in a strong embrace from behind. Her back pressed against his chest, her hands caught in his larger ones and he placed them against her stomach. He leaned down, his warm breath caressing her ear as he whispered, "Never ever say this again, that you will die, that will be my end in this world too."

His words, laced with sincerity and desperation, were like a balm to her wounded heart. He pressed a tender kiss on her earlobe, eliciting a gasp from her lips. His touch sent a sudden surge of warmth through her veins, a stark contrast to the cold and wet weather outside. She was sobbing, and he understood her pain, her heartache.

Breaking the hug abruptly, she turned away and ran towards her apartment, while her wet footsteps echoed in the corridor. Once inside, she collapsed on the floor, her body wracked with sobs. She hugged herself tightly, as if trying to hold the broken pieces of her heart together. In the darkness of the room, loud cries escaped her mouth, echoing the turmoil within her soul. Her heart yearned for him, but her mind, burdened by past wounds, pushed him away. She was torn between the love she felt and the fear of being shattered again.

As he watched Avani walk away, a storm of pain and regret engulfed Rishabh. He clutched his fists; the intensity of his emotions nearly overwhelmed him.

'What have I done to her?' he agonized, a profound realization of the depth of her love was crashing over him like a tidal wave.

The very intention he had, to protect her, had inadvertently broke her trust, shattering her belief in him and their love. His heart twisted with self-recrimination.

'How did I let this happen?' he cursed himself, haunted by the consequences of his actions. The weight of his mistakes pressed upon him, urging him to fix what he had broken and heal the woman he loved so deeply.

Sitting in the car, drenched, and filled with pain, Rishabh couldn't bear the agony of causing Avani so much hurt. He couldn't wait any longer; he needed to take the next step in winning her back.

His phone rang, and it was Vikram.

"Hey Rishabh, how'd it go?" Vikram inquired.

Rishabh sighed, replying, "She still hasn't forgiven me. I'm losing my patience here."

Vikram tried to console him, saying, "Relax, Rishabh. It doesn't mean, she doesn't love you anymore. She is just afraid; you might leave her again. She's guarding her heart against more pain."

Rishabh asked him teasingly, "Since when did you become so wise, my friend?"

Vikram replied, "The moment I fell in love. Rishabh, make her believe that you won't break her heart again."

"I will," Rishabh muttered to himself before ending the call. Determination filled him as he thought, "It's a promise, I will make you mine again. I will regain your trust. I will breach down those walls you've built around your heart."

He picked up his phone and dialled a number, and Rishabh's mother answered, "Hello."

"Mom, I'm coming tomorrow. Be ready." Rishabh informed her.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for you," Rishabh's mom replied with excitement before ending the call.

With renewed determination, Rishabh started his car and headed towards his penthouse.

In the midst of packing her bags, Avani's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. It had been two days since she last saw Rishabh, and he hadn't texted her either. She couldn't help but miss him. His sudden appearance at her doorstep had sparked a glimmer of hope within her, a hope that they could be together again.

‘But, did he give up on me? It had only been a few days, but I had spent the entire year after the breakup in agony.' Avani's cycle of thoughts again made a twirl.

"He said, he lied to me, but is he telling me the truth this time?" she pondered. The questions circled in her mind like a storm. Could she trust him again? He needed to make efforts to regain her trust, and most importantly, he had to tell her the truth.

She reflected on the past, wondering why he had broken up with her with just a simple declaration of loving someone else. The confusion and hurt from that moment still lingered, haunting her thoughts as she packed her bags. Her luggage was filled with items she had purchased from Delhi, as Anish's wedding was approaching. Her mother had instructed her to shop for Siya and Shreya too. Strangely, she insisted on buying Avani's attire personally from Pune. Avani couldn't fathom her reasons, but her mind was too preoccupied to dwell on it further. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm her racing thoughts amidst the chaos of preparations.

Avani completed her packing, and neatly organized her bags in one corner of her room. The next day, she has to catch a flight at 6 o'clock in the morning.

Feeling a pang of disappointment, Avani picked up her phone, hoping for a message, especially from a specific person. But there were no texts, no missed calls from him for the past two days. Sighing deeply, she took a sleeping pill from a bottle, preparing for another night of restless thoughts. After placing the bottle inside her bag, she lay down on her bed, slowly falling into the deep slumber.
