Chapter 94 Chapter 94

Chapter 94 Chapter 94
The sight before them was worse than any of their nightmares combined.

Worse than the horror stories they had heard growing up.

Hadeon was no longer a wolfless man, but he wasn’t a werewolf either.

He was something more. Something even werewolves should fear.

Unlike the pure-blooded, naturally born werewolves, which were larger than their earthly ancestors, with fur and eyes that matched their human features, this creature was an infringement of all that was natural. A grotesque fusion of man and beast, sculpted not by the purity of nature but by the cold, uncaring hands of science to assault magic.

His muscular frame stood on its hind legs, human-like, covered in dark, coarse fur that rippled with power and highlighted the definitions of all his muscles. His teeth, sharp and menacing, bared in a powerful and fierce snarl. They were much larger and sharper than the refined and controlled fangs of pure-blood werewolves, but uneven and jagged, as if purposely carved to create more damage.

The trousers he’d worn before shifting still appeared on him and concealed his lower region, now stretched and torn from his vast growth in size. They didn’t vanish with the magic imbued within his soul, only showcasing more of the tainted effects of the stolen magic.

Everyone had to crane their necks up to witness his full height, his size exceeding that of a true werewolf, and yet it was difficult to show the true height since he had to bend at the knees to fit, even with the high-ceilinged room.

His eyes didn’t reflect those of his human side; the midnight black was replaced with a blazing red that glowed like the fire within him. It was unnatural, synthetic, downright demonic – a perfect reflection of his soul.

There was no indication of Hadeon in this creature. This was who he truly was deep down.

A monster.

Even Brendan, the one who idolised his older brother whilst growing up, retreated a step when he saw what Hadeon had turned into. His only concern was keeping Suki by his side and getting everyone out safely.

Hadeon growled a depth that rumbled through the room. “Now no one can look down on me anymore.” Even his voice didn’t reflect the Hadeon they knew. It was deep, throaty and horrific.

“He can… talk?” Suki gasped. That was impossible, she thought. Werewolves in their wolf form can only communicate with each other through telepathy.

“That’s your problem, Hadeon – I never looked down on you. No one did.”

He bared his teeth and took a step forward, which shook the room and everything and everyone inside it.

Brendan snarled, holding Suki behind him. “Don’t touch her. This is between you and me. No one else.”

Suki gripped the fabric of his top. She squeezed her eyes shut and wished that all this was just a bad dream, but she knew it was a waste of time to think like that. She felt the graze of something against her mind – like something touching the wall blocking her from her wolf – it was Brendan or Rey; one of them was trying to communicate with her.

She was healing too slowly; she needed something to speed it up.

“I’m on a winning streak, brother. I will take what I want, and I think I’ll take her from you.” He moved for them.

Reynard lept for Hadeon and bit down on his arm.

Hadeon wailed in pain and tried to pull him off his arm.

“Suki, get out of here now,” Brendan shoved her to the door.

“I can’t leave you both here,” she chastised, annoyed.

“Don’t argue with me now,” he fumed.

She looked at her supernatural brothers and sisters on the ground. “What about them?”

“I’ll send word to the others to get them as soon as we get Hadeon out of this room. Now, please, go–”

Reynard yowled and whined in pain as Hadeon ripped him off his arm and threw him hard against the wall.

“Reynard!” She screamed, tears stinging her eyes again, rushing towards him, but Brendan pulled her back.

He recovered speedily, pulling himself back to his feet and shaking his head. His gaze moved to Suki, and he barked.

Hadeon sped towards her.

“Go. NOW!” Brendan yelled before leaping for his brother and shifting into his wolf, growling and attacking immediately on contact with his older brother.

Both werewolves fought against the abomination werewolf, but even together, being two powerful werewolves, they knew this wasn’t a battle they could win alone.

Though she was hesitant and unwilling to leave them, as he demanded, Suki ran out of the room and through the building, trying to find a way out.

Run. Run. Run. That was all she thought repeatedly in her mind. Her life was on the line. So were her mates. So were everyone’s. She hated herself for being unable to help them fight.

A hard crash awakened her from her spiralling thoughts. She looked back to see that Hadeon had smashed through the wall and was moving straight for her.

Her mouth fell dry as a lump formed in her throat. Concern for her mates rose in her heart.

What made it worse was he wasn’t running. His pace was slightly faster than walking, and even then, one stride of his steps covered a lot of ground.

He was taunting her – a predator who knew he was going to catch his prey – and he was thriving in it.

She pushed harder to run faster down the hallway, praying for somewhere to escape, but the building was like a maze.

Hadeon hauled his fist to the ground, sending the building into its own quake.

Suki cried out as the ground around her rumbled and broke under her feet, tripping her and throwing her face first into the ground.

A deep, dark chuckle emerged from far behind her, sending sickening knots twisting in her stomach. She pushed herself back to her feet and climbed over the debris to the ground that was untouched by Hadeon’s strength and continued running.

She meant a T split at the end of the hallway. Which way? Left or right. Either could mean life or death.
