Chapter 59: Reclaiming Her

Kael had no more time.

The Lunari’s power was growing too fast. The ritual was already in motion, and if he didn’t act now—Aria would be lost forever.

He closed his eyes.

He had one option left.

With a slow breath, he reached deep within himself—past the pain, past the doubt—to the bond that had never truly broken.

Aria.

A memory flickered.

Her laughter in the moonlight.

The fire in her eyes when she challenged him.

The way her hand had felt in his—like home.

"Aria," he whispered.

The chains around him shuddered.

Mara’s head snapped toward him, eyes narrowing. "What are you doing?"

Kael clenched his fists. He didn’t answer.

Instead, he called her name again—louder.

The air trembled. The Lunari’s monstrous form jerked.

For the first time since its full awakening—it hesitated.

Kael’s pulse pounded. She’s still in there.

Mara snarled, shadows lashing toward him. "No, you don’t!"

But it was too late.

The bond ignited.

The chains around him exploded into light—shattering.

Kael was free.

Mara’s magic struck him, but he didn’t stop. He lunged.

And as the Lunari turned its abyssal gaze toward him—Kael reached out, grasping for the last sliver of Aria that remained.

"Come back to me.”

The world erupted in chaos.

The Lunari let out an ear-splitting roar, its form twisting, cracking—fighting against itself.

Mara screamed, dark energy surging around her. *"NO! YOU BELONG TO ME!"*

Kael stood firm, his hand still outstretched.

Aria.

Her name was a whisper, a plea—a promise.

And then

Something shifted.

The Lunari’s abyssal form shuddered violently.

And deep within the darkness,

A single light flickered.

Aria’s voice was faint, barely a breath—but it was there.

"Kael…"

His heart slammed against his ribs. "I’m here."

The Lunari let out a final, deafening screech.

And in that instant—the battle for Aria’s soul truly began.

***

The world trembled.

The Lunari’s form convulsed, twisting violently. Shadows cracked apart like shattered glass, its jagged body splintering at the seams.

Kael’s grip tightened. He could feel her.

Aria.

Beneath the abyssal rage, beneath the darkness consuming her—she was still there.

"Fight it!" he shouted, his voice raw. "Don’t let it take you!"

The Lunari’s movements faltered, its clawed hands trembling. The blood rain slowed, the howling sky shifting.

Mara’s eyes widened. "No. NO!"

She raised her hands, pouring every ounce of dark energy into the Lunari—forcing it to stabilize, forcing Aria deeper into the abyss.

Kael felt her slipping.

"Aria, listen to me!" His voice was desperate now, urgent. "This isn’t you! You’re stronger than this!

For a breath, the world stilled.

Then

A scream tore through the air.

It wasn’t the Lunari.

It was Aria.

A deafening crack split the sky, and Kael felt the shift.

***

Aria stood in a world of nothingness.

The ground beneath her feet was liquid shadow, shifting and swallowing the remnants of her past.

Echoes whispered around her.

"You are nothing without me."

Mara’s voice—inside her head.

"You were always meant to be this. A god. A destroyer."

Aria clutched her head, her breathing ragged. The darkness pulled at her, wrapping around her limbs like vines.

"No…" she whispered.

The Lunari’s power was suffocating. Overwhelming. It would be so easy to let go.

To give in.

But then

A voice cut through the darkness.

"Come back to me."

Kael.

The sound of his voice was a spark—a flicker of warmth against the void.

And suddenly, she wasn’t drowning.

Suddenly, she remembered.

The way Kael had looked at her when they first met—curious, intrigued.

The way he had protected her, even when he didn’t have to.

The way he had always believed in her, even when she couldn’t believe in herself.

Aria’s hands clenched into fists.

"I am not the Lunari."

The shadows recoiled.

Mara’s voice hissed in her mind. "You cannot fight me."

Aria lifted her head.

"Watch me."

The darkness exploded.

***

Back in the real world, the Lunari let out a bloodcurdling scream.

Its monstrous form convulsed violently, the shadows around it fracturing like a broken mirror.

Kael’s breath caught.

It was working.

Mara stumbled back, panic flashing in her eyes.

"No… NO! She’s mine!"

She threw out her hands, summoning another surge of dark magic—but it was too late.

The Lunari’s body shattered.

And from within the collapsing darkness.

Aria emerged.

Her body glowed with a radiant, silver light, her eyes no longer consumed by blackness, but shining with fierce determination.

The last remnants of the Lunari melted away.

Aria was in control.

Mara staggered backward, horror twisting her features. "Impossible…"

Aria stepped forward, power radiating from her like wildfire.

"You wanted a god?" Her voice was cold, unyielding. "Then bow."

Mara screamed in fury, lunging with one final desperate attack

But Aria raised a single hand.

And snapped her fingers.

A wave of silver energy ripped through Mara.

She let out a strangled gasp, her body seizing as the magic tore through her essence.

Her skin cracked, her veins burning with the power she had once sought to control.

Mara let out one last, desperate shriek—before she collapsed into dust.

The remaining wolves, those who had followed her, fell to their knees.

Their leader was gone.

Their cause—ended.

Kael stood frozen, his chest rising and falling heavily.

It was over.

Aria had won.

But then

She turned to face him, her glowing eyes still shimmering with residual power.

And Kael realized,Something was wrong.
