Asher’s point of view

“Asher, please forgive me.. Please.. “Scarlynn’s shrill voice echoed in the hushed forest, her frame trembling under the moonlight as her hands were wrapped around a shovel. I leaned against my car, James stood beside me, both of our gazes locked on her as she dug her own grave. I had tried to spare her life, I truly tried, but she didn't deserve it. I thought the law was going to deal with her, but it's clear that even that failed, and this is the only way that never fails: burying her alive. She'd suffocate in there, feeling her soul leave her body slowly. I didn't want her dirty blood on my hands, but I wanted her to suffer.

“Dig that damn grave, or else I'm going to throw you into the sea filled with sharks… “My voice sliced through the silence, sharp and stern. “I'm sure they will enjoy having you for dinner.. “ I pointed my lighter at her, making sure she was doing it right.

“Asher, please forgive me.. I'm begging you. I will never do it again, trust me. I will never try to harm you or Scarlett ever again.. “She was now sobbing, her voice shaking, laced with terror.

I shook my head in disbelief. What makes her think I'd ever forgive her after what happened with Scarlett? After the surgery, she's been quiet. She doesn't want to eat or do anything. She just sat there silently, and it was shattering my heart every time. I wish I could do something to help her, but at this point, I can't seem to think of anything except punishing this witch.

The sound of my phone ringing brought me back to reality. I slipped my hand into my pocket, yanked my phone out, and Scarlett’s name flashed on the screen. I felt like my heart had stopped beating for a few seconds before it started racing again.

I swiped my thumb over the screen to the green button, lifted my phone to my ear, and waited for her to speak.

“Let her go.. “Scarlett’s voice had no emotion in it, as if she was just a walking dead woman. I felt a sharp pang in my chest. I wish I could get her out of this and give her what she really wants, but I don't know any other way to do it.

“Scarlett, I can't let her go after everything she's done to you.. “I breathed heavily, trying to control my emotions. “You are in this condition only because of her, and I can't let her get away just like that.. “I could barely control the anger rising within me.

Scarlett let out a heavy sigh. “Please come home, Asher, and let her go. I forgive her for everything she's done to me.. “Her voice cracked, barely above a whisper. “Even if you do kill her, it won't change the fact that I can never be a mother… “Her breath was now labored. “It won't change anything in my life. Just let her go and come back, unless of course, you don't want me anymore. I'd understand.. “

“Scarlett, you know that my love for you is bigger than all that, right? “I exhaled deeply. “I will spare her life if that's what you want and come back home. “I waited for Scarlett to reply, but she had already hung up the call.

I slipped my phone in my pocket. I shifted my attention to Scarlynn, who was sobbing. “You should be grateful to Scarlett for her big heart. Get the hell out of here, and if I ever see you near my family ever again, I'm going to chop you into pieces and feed you to the sharks. You can trust me on that.. “ My wish was to just kill her, but if this is what Scarlett wants, then I won't do it.

“What now? “James asked.

“I'm going home.. “I swung the car door open and stepped in, while he walked around the car, opened the door, and also stepped in to start driving away.

“Can I say something if you don't mind? “I glanced at James, who was driving, before I turned my gaze to the car window.

“Sure.. “I muttered.

“I think if you adopt a child, Miss Scarlett will be happy again.. “His words made me turn my attention to him completely. “She's sad because she can't have children, but if you adopt one, she'd probably be happy again, knowing that she's someone's mom. But that's if you want to raise a child that isn't your blood.. “

James had a point. Why didn't I think of that sooner? Maybe Scarlett will get over what happened and move on. “You are such a lifesaver, James. As soon as you get home, find me the best orphanage, then I'd pay them a visit. “I told him, and he nodded.

Now Scarlett won't be sad anymore. We can finally start our lives afresh with no problems or whatsoever. Our family will also grow, and that's a good thing. Her happiness is all that matters in my life.

By the time he dropped me at the villa, it was around midnight. My brows furrowed when I spotted Scarlett seated on the couch, a small blanket covering her frame. She turned to me when she sensed my presence, rising from there, she rushed to me, wrapping her arms around me, causing me to freeze. It had been almost a month since we were this close, and I was scared to hurt her emotions even by mistake.

“I love you, Asher, and I've just realized that I don't need to have a child to prove my love for you.. You are all that matters in my life.. “I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer. This is all I wanted to hear from her, that we don't need a child in our lives, but we need each other.

“I love you, Scarlett, and no matter what happens, I will always love you.. “My words were barely above a whisper. I just wanted her to know just how much I loved her. She was my home, and she's the only thing that makes sense in my life.

She lifted her head, and before I could even react, she captured my lips in a kiss, and I pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. This is all we needed in our lives, each other, and that's it. That's how I've imagined our lives together.

Scarlett’s point of view

My life turned out the way I never expected. What I thought when I first got married to Asher was that I'd hate him for the rest of my life. But I do not know when that changed into wanting to spend the rest of my life with him. He exceeded all my expectations of my dream guy, and my heart will always belong to him.

As for Scarlynn, I decided to forgive her for everything she's done to me. Her guilt was going to eat her up because she knows I've never done anything to hurt her since we were kids. I've always been there for her, but her jealousy and greed got the best of her, and she turned her back on me. That's not my fault. I decided to forgive her because she herself is lost. She doesn't even know where her life is going, and I think she needed a chance to figure it all out.

As for Mark and Shane, I don't even know what Asher did with them, and I don't think I care, especially about everything that has happened to me because of them. I'm happy with the man I love, and that's all that matters. He's the only thing that matters in my life. Whatever will happen in the future, I'll start dealing with it then, but for now, I'm allowing myself to be happy.

“Sweetheart, come on, let's go! “Asher called out to me, pulling me out of my thoughts. The maid and guards were already done packing our bags, and Asher was waiting for me, leaning by the car. We decided to relocate and move to another country and start our lives afresh.

A smile stretched across my lips as I walked over to him. He yanked me into his arms, his hands around my waist, leaning in for a kiss.

“I love you.. “He whispered, his lips brushing against mine. I couldn't help but chuckle.

“I love you more.. “He chuckled, and he pulled me into a tight hug. I loved him more than words could explain. He was my prince charming, and this was our happy ending.
