What’s Coming

"The bond, as you call it, I don't understand. How can you be so sure? I don't know anything about this world, and now you're telling me I'm connected to you? "

Sultan leaned forward slightly, his amber eyes locking onto hers with a steady, calming intensity. "I know this is a lot to take in, and I don't expect you to accept it all immediately. But the bond between us—it's ancient. It's part of who we are.

Listening, Leandra, I know this may also be hard to believe, but I am a werewolf, and Werewolves have mates. It's not something we choose. It's something that's chosen for us, And when I found you, I knew. My wolf knew."

Leandra's stomach fluttered at his words. There was something so raw and honest about how he said it. As though this bond was more than just a connection—it was everything to him. But how could she be sure? She had felt the pull, but it was overwhelming and terrifying. Was she ready to accept that she was part of this world? That she had powers she didn't even understand?

"But I don't feel like I belong in this... this world. This world is full of magic; I'm not sure I believe you about this werewolf thing. I know nothing about it except what I've read in novels. You say I have magic, but I don't know what that means. How can I be part of something so big when I've been living a completely normal life until now?" She said.

Sultan's reached across the small space between them, his hand hovering near hers. He didn't touch her, but the warmth of his presence was enough to send a shiver down her core. "You've been living a normal life because you didn't know. You were raised human in a world without understanding or believing in magic. But that doesn't change who you are. Your powers are real, and they're waking up because of our bond. I know it's scary and feels like everything is changing, but I'm here to help you. I won't let you face this alone, and when the right time comes, I will show you my wolf, but for now, let's take things one step at a time; I don't want to overwhelm you."

Leandra swallowed hard, her throat tight with emotion. She had spent her entire life feeling like something was missing, like there was a part of herself she couldn't quite understand. Now, she was being told that all of that—every strange moment, every unexplainable feeling—was because she was more than human. And Sultan... Sultan was offering her the answers she had been searching for. But it came with a price. Their bond was undeniable, but it also meant that her life, as she knew it, was over.

She looked up at him and asked with uncertainty. "What if I can't do this? What if I can't be the person you think I am? What if I don't want the bond? What if I don't want powers? I don't even know how to use these powers. I don't know what I am."

"You don't have to know everything right now. You're still you, Leandra. Nothing can change that. And as for the rest? We'll figure it out together. You're not alone in this. I'll be with you every step of the way." Sultan reassured her.

Leandra stared at him, her heart pounding. The way he spoke and the certainty in his voice were enough to make her want to believe him. But it was all still so overwhelming, so terrifying. She had gone from being a nurse with an average life to being told she was part of a world she didn't even know existed. And Sultan... He was offering her safety and protection, but he was also offering her something more—something more profound.

She could feel something between them, humming just beneath the surface. It was undeniable, magnetic. Every time she looked into Sultan's eyes, she felt the pull, the connection. It was like nothing she had ever experienced before, and even though it scared her, she couldn't ignore it.

She took a deep breath and exhaled. "Okay. I'll... I'll try to understand this. But I need time, Sultan. This is all so much, and I'm still processing everything ."

Sultan nodded, his gaze filled with a mixture of relief and understanding. "Take all the time you need. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here, watching over you, keeping you safe. And when you're ready, I'll help you figure out what's next."

Leandra felt a weight lift off her chest at his words. She wasn't alone in this. Sultan would help her, guide her. But the thought of relying on him, of trusting him so wholly, still left her feeling vulnerable. She had never needed anyone before and had never allowed herself to lean on anyone. But this... this was different.

For now, she would take it one step at a time. She didn't have all the answers and didn't fully understand what was happening to her. But she had Sultan, and for now, that was enough.

POV: Sultan

Sultan felt a sense of relief wash over him as he watched Leandra slowly begin to accept what was happening. She was hesitant, and he could feel her fear, but the fact that she was willing to try was enough for now. The bond between them was still fragile, but it was there, growing stronger with every second they spent together.

His wolf was calm, satisfied by the progress they had made. She was his mate.

Sultan's chest tightened at those words. Yes, she was his mate. But this wasn't just about claiming her. It was about protecting her, helping her realize who she truly was. She wasn't just anyone. She was special.

The thought of someone—or something—harming her sent a surge of protectiveness coursing through his veins. He couldn't let anything happen to her. He wouldn't.

As he sat there, watching her, he couldn't help but feel the weight of his responsibility growing heavier. There were others out there who would want her, who would try to take her from him. And he had to be ready to face them, to fight for her, no matter what it cost.

"I have to ask you something," Leandra said suddenly, breaking the silence.

Sultan's attention snapped back to her, his amber eyes locking onto hers. "Anything."

Leandra hesitated for a moment, her hands twisting nervously in her lap. "You said I'm in danger. That there are others out there who want me because of my powers. Who are they? What do they want?"

Sultan's expression darkened, his wolf growling softly in the back of his mind. He dreaded this question, but he knew she deserved the truth.

"There are many factions in the supernatural world," he explained, his voice low and serious. "Rival packs of werewolves, rogues, other shifters, fairies, vampires, witches who dabble in dark magic, and many other supernaturals. They all have agendas, and someone like you—someone with untapped power—would be a valuable asset. Or a threat."

Leandra's eyes. "A threat? To who?"

"To anyone who fears what you might become," Sultan said grimly. "Your power is still dormant, but once it awakens fully, you could be more powerful than you realize. Some creatures will see that as a threat to their dominance. And they'll try to take you down before you become a danger to them."

Leandra's face paled, and she pressed a hand to her chest, her heartbeat pounding beneath her fingertips. "I... I didn't ask for any of this."

"I know," Sultan said gently, his expression softening. "And I'll do everything in my power to protect you. But you have to be prepared, Leandra. You have to be ready for what's coming."

Her eyes searched his, and for the first time, she looked terrified. "What's coming?"

Sultan's gaze hardened the weight of his words heavy in the air. "A war, Leandra. A war between the supernatural factions. And you're caught in the middle of it."

Leandra's breath hitched, her heart pounding in her chest. Everything Sultan was saying felt too big, too overwhelming. War? Supernatural creatures? It sounded like something out of a nightmare. But the way he spoke, the way his eyes darkened with the weight of his responsibility, she knew it was real.

And now she was a part of it.

Sultan's voice softened again as he leaned closer, his gaze never leaving hers. "I know it's scary. But I'm with you. We'll get through this together."
