Chapter 88 88
CHAPTER EIGHTY-EIGHT
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
I raised an eyebrow at him, sensing something was wrong, Aurora stared at him also.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Follow me, you'll see." He replied, gesturing us to follow him.
I hesitated, my instinct telling me not to follow him. But Aurora's encouraging nod pushed me to trail behind him.
We walked out of the pack house, the moon cast an eerie glow over the trees as we walked. We passed two houses until we finally stopped in front of a small cabin, hidden away in a cluster of trees. He opened the door, revealing a dimly little interior.
"This is where you will be staying."
I stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the darkness as I looked around. The cabin was small, with a single bed and a side table. Aurora followed me in, her eyes glanced worriedly at me.
"Its...cozy."
I glanced at her then faced him, he had a satisfied gleam in his eyes.
"A cabin. You want me to stay in a tiny cabin. Away from Aurora?"
"Yes. It's either that or you leave."
I narrowed my eyes at him, a growl erupting from my throat.
"Why can't I stay in the pack house?"
He raised his chin at me, "Because its my pack house and I don't want you in it."
I crossed my hands across my chest.
"Fine then. I want Aurora to stay here with me."
He took a deep breath, I saw his hands clench.
"She stays in the pack house."
"Why? So you can have the chance to talk to her? You're such a coward, trying to use devious means to get something that isn't and will never be yours."
"You are not sure about that yet "
We both snarled at the same time, our fangs breaking free and sprouting up as we got in each other's faces. The air was suddenly filled with tension and the promise of a fight.
"Alright, enough. Time out."
I felt Aurora's hand on mine as she pulled me away. She turned to face him.
"Alpha Kieran, thank you for everything. Can you leave us for a while? Let me talk to him."
He stared at me with hate burning in his eyes before finally nodding his head.
"Fine. I'll be outside, waiting to show you to your room."
"Thank you."
Once the door slammed shut, I faced her.
"You know he's doing this on purpose, right? Just to spite me."
She sighed, slumping her shoulders.
"That I can agree." Her voice was barely above a whisper as she took my hand. "But please go with it, Lucian. For me. For our pack. Okay."
I felt my anger melt away, replaced by shame and the need to protect her.
"Fine. I'll try, for you."
She smiled, "Thank you. That's all I ask."
I moved closer and pulled her into my chest, I rested my jaw on her head while breathing in her scent.
"Anything for you, Aurora. And please...do not mind me when I come to check on you later."
She raised her head, a slight frown on her face.
"Check on me?"
"Yeah, but later. I don't want the bastard to find out."
She shrugged, rolling her eyes.
"Whatever. Just rest, you must be tired right?"
I nodded, staring at her.
"I will and you should also rest."
She nodded and stepped away, heading during the door.
"Sure."
"And don't let him touch you. Or stay in your room longer than two minutes."
"What?" She hissed, I shrugged.
"Just making sure.".
She scoffed, opened the door and left. I heard as he told her to follow him.
"Fucking bastard. Just wait till I finally get the chance to get even with you."
'If he touches our mate, we're killing him.' My wolf growled.
"Agreed." I nodded as I moved to the bed, took off my shoes and settled my body on the narrow frame.
"I never made him go through this in my pack, why the hell does he get the right to do that?"
'Because our mate says you should hold in it.'
I grunge in reply. Sure. I'm only keeping quiet because of Aurora. If it hadn't been for her, I would have used him to move the floors. Literally.
I stayed sulking on the bed until I fell asleep. But it wasn't a fitful sleep, because I was having a bad dream. And in that dream, I was standing in the middle of my pack. I tried to move but I couldn't, it felt like I had been frozen in my spot. As I watched, Desmond suddenly appeared in front of me. He had a dirty grin on his face. I noticed he was holding something in his hands. When I looked, I screamed. Because in his hands we're the lifeless heads of my mother, Griffin and Talia. Their eyes were open as they stared lifelessly, revealing the horror they had experienced before they met their deaths.
"No! No! No!" I roared, feeling hot tears going down my cheeks.
"Ha ha ha ha! Now you have no one!" He smirked, his teeth shinning red with blood.
"No! I still have Aurora!!" I yelled, my voice shaking.
He threw his head back as he booked out a laugh, then he looked at me and pointed to somewhere behind me.
"Do you really?"
I looked, Aurora was crying as she clutched her stomach, blood poured out from her middle like a stream. She stared at me silently, her eyes pleading with me to help her.
"No! No! Not her!"
The scene was too vivid, I saw the light fading from her eyes. She stopped breathing, her hand outstretched to me.
"Aurora!!!"
I jumped up from the bed, my body heaving with my laborious panting, sweat clinging to my skin.
"It was a dream. It was just a dream. No one is dead." I muttered to myself in a trance, trying to steady my voice.
Once I had calmed down and my body was no longer trembling, I swung my legs over and stood up. It was still nighttime.
"Time to head over to Aurora."
