CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN
AURORA'S P.O.V
I turned to see a slender girl with long, wavy brown hair and bright brown eyes running with speed towards me. Her lips were drawn wide in a huge grin.
"Aurora!" She screamed again, launching herself at me.
"Oooff!"
I was caught off guard and pushed down on the sofa, my hands clutching her back for support, at the same time giving her a tight hug.
"Mirabel!" I squealed with joy.
We hugged for what felt like an eternity, both of us laughing at the same time. Mirabel held my hands tight in hers.
"I'm so glad to see you!!!"
"Same here. How have you been?"
She blushed and ducked her head while tucking her hair behind her ears.
"Well...I'm great. I finally got my man."
My eyes widened, I gripped her hands tight.
"Oh my gosh! Really? I'm so happy for you. Your father didn't give you guys trouble right?"
"At first he did, something about his little girl not ready for marriage yet. But then he came around. What about you?"
She asked curiously, while darting a sly look at Lucian. He winked at me, a glint in his eyes, I glared at him sharply, earning a laugh from him.
"Oh hi Lucian, sorry didn't mean to ignore you." She giggled.
"It's alright, you guys haven't seen each other in a while."
"Thank you." Then she turned back to me. "Any news?" Her eyebrows bobbed up and down.
I looked away sheepishly.
"Still a work in progress."
"Aurora." She groaned, her tone sounding disappointed.
"It's not my fault, I've had a lot of things happen to me, you don't know the half of it. It hasn't left me enough time for that."
She rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'll let it be." Then she narrowed her eyes. "But I'm not giving up."
"Fine." I pouted, turning my face away.
"Wait a minute!" She squealed, I almost yelped as she took my face in her hands and turned it left and right. "Did you dye your hair? And are you wearing eye contacts? Not that it's weird, it actually looks good on you."
I bit my lips.
"Yeah...about that...no I didn't dye my hair and the eyes....well I have no idea what's going on with my eyes since I haven't looked in a mirror since today."
"You mean the hair is natural? How did you do it? Can you tell me?" She asked me eagerly.
"Um...um..."
Just then, Jake and Eli walked into the room, followed by an older woman with kind eyes. I blew out a relieved breath, saved by the family.
"Mom, look who's here!" Mirabel exclaimed, running over to the woman.
The woman's eyes widened as she saw me, and she rushed over to hug me tightly.
"Oh my, dear! I'm so glad to see you're safe. My sons told me you both were being chased." She gave Lucian a warm smile.
"Thank you, ma'am."
I hugged her back, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort.
"Hey! No one told me anything about them being chased! You were chased Aurora?" Mirabel rounded on me.
"Yeah." I answered with a wince.
Jake turned to us. "So, what happened? How did you guys end up in that car chase?"
Lucian and I exchanged a look, he nodded for me to start. I told Jake and Eli everything, from the genesis of everything, to Alpha Desmond's return, then to the car chase. Jake's face grew increasingly serious, and Eli's eyes narrowed with anger.
"That's insane," Jake said finally. "You guys really had it rough and here I was thinking I've seen worse."
Eli nodded. "So you can't go back now because he might kill you. And he branded you a rogue. He also wants Aurora's blood?"
"Yep, that sums it up." Lucian nodded, his eyes lowered.
"Aurora, you've been through so much. I'm sorry." Mirabel muttered, her eyes sad.
"Its okay, I'm still here."
"We can't let him go on with his plans. We have to stop him." Eli growled.
"Yeah, we have to gather the other packs and take him down. He's a threat to all of us." Jake nodded.
Lucian shook his head.
"It's not going to be easy...and besides, you've done enough by saving us today and bringing us here. We can manage. Its our fight, we'll handle it."
"Don't say that." Mirabel snapped, her hold on my hand tightened. "You can say all that crap but push down your man pride at least for the sake of Aurora here. As far as I'm concerned you need help, you can't do this alone."
"But what if it comes back to bite you?" I asked worriedly.
"Then it bites, we'll heal..we're not glass you know." Jake grumbled.
"We're helping and that's final. You saved us from that monster. Let us do the same for you too." Eli had a hard look on his face, his eyes glowing. He looked ready to argue further if we said something else.
Lucian's eyes went misty, I saw him swallow and take a deep breath. I nodded at him and smiled, he smiled back.
"Thank you, guys," I said, my voice sincere. "We really appreciate your help."
Jake smiled. "No problem. We're in this together now. We'll figure it out, okay?"
Lucian nodded, and I could tell he was feeling a sense of relief. We weren't alone anymore.
"But you know..." Mirabel started, her eyes squinted as she regarded my face. "I love this hair color and your eyes, damn. Maybe I should dye my hair? And put on eye contacts."
"Alright, thats it!" I yelled, "Someone give me a mirror."
"Here." Jake quickly handed me a small mirror.
"What in dragon and game of thrones is going on with my eyes!" I exclaimed, my eyes were golden.
Like, actually freaking golden. And they were beautiful.
"Guys, I look like a goddess." I grinned, touching my face in awe.
"That's what I said when I saw you too." Lucian deadpanned, I blushed.
"You've always been beautiful, Aurora, this doesn't change that fact."
"Of course I know that." I laughed.
"Come on, let's go eat, I'm sure you lot must be starving by now." Mirabel's mother announced, clapping her hands to gain our attention. We stood up and headed towards a cozy dinning room.
"Oh before I forget, Eli?" I called out, he turned to me.
"Yeah."
I glanced at a puzzled Lucian.
"Which Eli are you?"
