CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Okay, I'll come with you."
His shoulders visible relaxed as he burst into a broad grin for the first time since I knew him, the lines of his cheeks creasing.
"I knew you would make the right choice, Aurora. I'm glad and I promise you that you won't regret it."
"Thank you alpha. When do we leave?"
He bounced on his feet. "As soon as possible, today if you can."
My eyes flew open.
"T...today? Why do sudden."
He shook his head, "Aurora, I really have no more obligation to stay in this pack. You we're the one holding me back, I had been waiting for your response."
I bit my lower lip, feeling conflicted.
"Um...okay. Can you give me some time to make my goodbyes? At least, I need to talk to Talia and Lucian."
At the mention of Lucian, his face gardened and he pressed his lips into a thin line before finally nodding.
"Fine, you have enough time, we can leave tonight."
"Thank you."
I nodded gratefully at him then waved as I walked quickly to Talia's place.
Luckily, she was seated outside on a beach chair lounging in the sun.
"Hey Talia."
"Aurora?" She raised her head and pulled off her sunglasses. "Hey, what are you doing here? Wasn't expecting you." She grinned as she stood to give me a hug.
"Yeah, I suddenly had something to tell you." I answered, trying to keep the smile on my lips but feeling my chest tighten at the thought that I might not see her in a long time.
"Here, have a seat."
She pushed me down to sit and faced me, her hands on her laps as a concerned look was on her face.
"So what's up? How is Lucian? Is he getting better or worse?"
"He's actually getting better, I think. I mean, he opened his eyes today and..." I swallowed back the remaining words. 'He said my name'
"Really!" She screamed, her hands over her mouth. "I'm so happy, I knew he could fight it." She calmed down then looked closer at me. "What is it?"
As expected, she was my best friend so she had to know something was up. I cleared my throat while fidgeting with my fingers and squeezing my toes together.
"Um...so...ivedecidedtogowithalphakieran!" I bit out in a rush with my eyes closed.
"Slower Aurora, slower." She crooned.
I groaned, "I've decided to go with Alpha Kieran."
She was silent for a while, her eyes wide and face blank. Then...
"WHAT! AURORA FRANKENSTEIN STEEL! What are you thinking!?"
I winced at the stinging sound wave that was tearing through my eardrum.
I rushed to explain.
"Listen to me, in my defense, I don't think I want to stay there anymore. The pack members, everyone, except Eleanor blames me for everything that happened. And yes I know its not my fault but they don't care. Now, I just want to go somewhere else and start a new life. You know fully, more than well that this pack just thinks of me as trash and there are other Omegas but I'm still trash." She frowned and looked away, I continued. "And besides, I have Alpha Kieran's words and support. No one will know me there. I can become a whole different person there. Please understand me."
She snorted, her hands crossed on her chest.
"You're leaving me." She pouted. "And Lucian."
I shook my head, taking her hands in mine.
"I would never! Remember the promise we made to each when we were little? Never forget each other no matter what?".
She nodded glumly.
"That still stands, no matter where I go, you will always be my one and only best friend."
"Heck yeah, you better know it. And if I find out you find someone else, I'm appearing there in a flash and going full terminator on them."
"No problem."
We both stared at each other, tears in our eyes before breaking out in loud giggles. She pulled me in a high and sniffed.
"I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too. And don't worry about Lucian, if he still wants me, he knows where to find me."
"Of course."
After talking for sometime, I bid her another teary farewell then left. By the time I reached the pack house, it was already late evening and the sky was already getting black with night. I sighed Alpha Kieran resting against a black sedan in front of the pack house.
"This your car?"
"Yes, go bring your stuffs. I'll put them in the boot."
"Sure."
As I walked to my room, my stomach growled loudly, I suddenly remembered that I still hadn't eaten since morning.
"I should get something to eat once I get to his pack." I mused to myself.
I didn't have a lot of of stuffs, so it was easy to pack everything in a short while. Then I sat down and wrote a letter to Eleanor. Explaining why I was gone and that I would still call if she ever needed me, also along with a apology on my leaving. Done with that, I took the envelope, with my luggage and pushed the envelope under her door to her room. She wasn't in there at the moment, at this time, she had to be in the office.
"Is this everything?" Alpha Kieran asked with a raised eyebrow as soon as he saw my box.
"Yeah, I don't pack heavy."
He smiled and took the box, "Alright, I'll put this in for you. Anything other thing you have to do?"
I stared at the pack house, this had been my home for a few months.
"Yes...I need to go see Lucian. Say goodbye."
He nodded brusquely. "Go."
"Lucian..." I whispered as soon as I was beside him, his hand in mine felt lukewarm and dry. A tear slid down my cheek. "I'm...so sorry. I want to stay but I can't do this so. The hate, the blame...its too much for me. In Kieran's pack, things will be different. I won't be treated different because of my status, I'll be a new person." I lowered my lips and kissed him on his still soft lips, lingering for a while then I got up.
"Goodbye Lucian. You can still find me if you want."
The door closed silently behind me, I took a deep breath and began walking out. But just as I was about to leave the house, a sharp pain assaulted the back of my head. I fell down, the pain was so great. Then I heard footsteps coming towards me, I felt the presence in front of me, glimpsing a pair of black shoes. Then my hair was dragged painfully and I felt my head going up. A grinning face was what I first saw, then my eyes flew wide as the strength left my legs. I opened my mouth as a bloodcurdling scream escaped me. I remember blacking out but not before a thought blared in my head.
'Ghost'
