CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
I froze along with Aurora. She sat up, her eyes wide, face now pale.
"Lucian, what happened? Did you do anything?"
I shook my head, my eyes narrowed.
"I haven't done anything, I'm sure its all a misunderstanding. Or another one of dad's plans. Stay here, don't come outside or after me."
"But..." She protested.
"No buts...please." I held her hand my eyes serious. "We don't know what else he might have up his sleeves. Just stay here, I'll settle it myself."
Slowly, she nodded while biting her lips. In an instant, I leaned closer and took her lips in a kiss, it wasn't long, but it was enough to make her stare at me with eyes laced with lust.
"I'll be fine." I smiled then opened the door.
Four men greeted me, their faces stoic and hard. I don't I have ever seen them in this pack, they must be over of dad's very own henchmen. My guess was correct, this was all a scheme of his.
"Come with us." They ordered.
I nodded and said nothing as I followed them, they pushed me along until we stopped at the door to the dungeon. Without waiting for them to say anything, I walked in quietly. I choose a cell that looked moderately clean and got in and down on the damp floor.
They said nothing as they locked the door with a key and wrapped a chain around it. I watched ad they left, then closed my eyes. This wasn't the first time I was being thrown into the dungeon. As a teenager, this dungeon had been my second home, to be honest, I had preferred the silence and solitude I found here much better than having to stay in that house looking at his face.
But right now I can't be calm. Who knows what's he actually planning with this stunt. I just hope he doesn't hurt Aurora or drag her into any of this.
The sound of the iron doors creaking and the clicking of locks echoed in the empty space. I raised my head as I heard footsteps approaching.
"Dad."
He looked down at me, his eyes narrowed with a look of disgust.
"Do you see what you have become now?"
I looked deep into his eyes.
"Is this the best you can do? Locking me in here for no reason?" I stood up and walked towards him, the iron bars the only thing separating us. "Please tell me, what might my offense be?"
He smirked. "Treason."
"Treason?" I was taken aback. "In what ways have I committed treason?"
"By refusing to obey my orders and still keeping that girl with you even after I have repeatedly spoken against it. You disobey your alpha, that is treason. "
I glared at him.
"And that is treason? Have you informed the pack elders about this? They should know the crime I committed and my punishment."
His lips pressed in a grin line, I smirked as I grabbed the cold bars tightly.
"You haven't told them and you won't tell them because you know they will fight against this. An alpha putting his own son in the dungeon? Isn't that cowardice?"
"You will shut your mouth now boy."
"Or you'll do what?" I dared him, the corner of my lips raised in mockery, "Punch me? Beat me? Come on old man. I've seen worse than this. You really have to up your game.".
He suddenly threw back his head and laughted, his shoulders moved along with him as he bent over, still laughing. I found nothing funny about the situation but I said nothing. Once he was done laughing, he placed his hands in his pockets and leaned closer.
"I might not be able to scare you anymore, but I can sure scare your mate."
I squeezed the bars in my hand so hard that they creaked.
"Don't you dare do anything to harm her."
"Or you'll do what?" He taunted, throwing my question back in my face.
"I'm warning you. The only reason I have been holding myself back from killing you is because of mom. But I swear if you do anything to hurt Aurora, consequences be damned I will rain on you like a thunder storm."
"You can't do anything."
I snarled, my teeth going full canine mode.
"Try me and see."
His eyes went hard as he wiped the smirk from his lips. He glared at me one last time before walking out slowly. I slid to the cold floor immediately he was done while heaving harshly. I shouldn't have held the bars so tight, I regretted as I stared at my bloody hands. Of course the bars were made with silver but that hadn't registered to my brain at that time.
"Bastard! You better not touch her." I whispered under my breath as I closed my eyes again.
I stayed in that state for a while, not conscious of time until the heavy iron creaked open again and I scented Griffin's familiar scent.
"Griffin." I stood to face him.
He came close to the bar, his eyes blazing with fury while clenching his fists.
"That bastard. Why is he doing this?"
"Just another sick game of his."
"How could he accuse you of treason? Thats insane."
"How do you know about it?".
He swallowed and took a deep breath, his forehead creased in a deep frown.
"He told me and then threatened me not to tell anybody or say anything to the elders or he would have you dead."
"That bastard! What about Aurora?" I asked him anxiously.
"In her room, I pleaded with her to stay there, it was difficult because she really was about to barge in here."
I took a shuddering breath.
"Griffin, please protect her. My dad is plannung something and he intends to use Aurora to get to me."
He nodded solemnly.
"Even if I have to die, I will keep her safe."
"Thank you. What about my mom, does she know about this?"
"Yes, the last I saw, she was heading towards his office and she was very angry."
