CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
AURORA'S P.O.V
My palms felt clammy with sweat. My heart was racing fast against my ribcage. It suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe. How did he know? How did he find out? Is he going to show his true colors?
"Breathe Aurora, its okay." He spoke calmly, "Nothing is going to happen, okay. Just calm down."
His eyes were wide as he raised his hand in front of him in an up and down motion.
I took a deep breath and let it out, that's when I realized I had been holding my breath.
"How did you find out? Who told you? Does anyone know?" I quickly rushed out as I leaned over the table, then my eyes went to Griffin. "Does he know?"
Lucian looked at him.
"Well he does now."
Griffin nodded immediately, I then noticed that he kept glancing at me as if trying to ask me something. I dropped back and took a deep breath.
"Yes, it began a while ago. I noticed that my speed had gotten fast, faster than usual. Then my senses, they had gotten very sharp and enhanced."
I swallowed and took a deep breath, I could feel Griffin's gaze on me.
"And also...also...my wolf is white."
"Your wolf is white? Oh, iknpw already."
Lucian answered, his voice was filled with awe. It shocked me, because I was expecting him to rear back in fear or disgust.
"Excuse me?", I blinked, dumbfounded.
"But that's actually cool. It makes sense, your clan is a powerful clan, so of course you have to be different. And besides..." He smiled, "Mom already told me."
"Eh? What are you saying? Your mom knows? She knows?!" I screeched.
He didn't answer me, he was too busy staring at Griffin, his head tilted.
"Lucian!" I yelled.
"Sorry, its just..." He blinked, then stared at Griffin and back at me. "Why doesn't he seem shocked?" Then to him, "why aren't you shocked."
Griffin looked away and scratched his head.
"I may have found out earlier, before you."
"What?" Lucian exploded.
"Yeah, back when we were about to rescue your naked ass. She shifted and I saw it."
He stared at the both of us, his lips open as he struggled for what to say.
He took in a deep breath and exhaled.
"So why didn't you tell me?" He gritted out through clenched teeth.
"Because she made me promise not to tell you."
He looked at me, I nodded.
"Yes, I did ask him not to tell. If it hadn't been for you, he wouldn't have found out anyway."
"Hmmph!" He snorted and began mumbling. "Letting others know but not telling me your mate about something as sensitive as this. I'm flattered."
I rolled my eyes.
"Because I didn't trust you then, and I'm still trying to."
He stiffened, then he cleared his throat and faced me.
"Its alright, you had no choice. I don't blame you."
Just like that? He had on a smile on his lips but I could see the daggers he was glaring at Griffin. Whatever, as long as its not on me.
"So, can we continue?" I asked, they both nodded. "That's right, did I also mention that I could suddenly use magic." I told them about the incident with the three ladies.
"Huh?" Griffin grunted.
"I see. They deserved more if you ask me." Was all Lucian said.
Griffin glanced at him.
"It seems like you expected this. Can you just say everything, I'm getting impatient."
I nodded quickly. "Me too."
With a glare at Griffin, he sighed.
"Fine."
He spent close to thirty minutes explaining what he just discovered from his mother.
"....and that's all she told me." He finally finished.
"Wow!" Griffin whispered.
"Wow, was the same thing I said when I heard it." Lucian agreed.
I sat there feeling overwhelmed. My head felt heavy like as if a heavy load of information had been dropped in it but at the same time, my shoulders felt light, relieved from the pressure I had been feeling.
"So you mean, I'm not a monster? I'm not some strange, forbidden person with the only white wolf in the pack?" I whispered, tears filling my eyes.
He came over to me and crouched down. I stared into his blue eyes.
"No sweetheart. You are more than that. You are the only white wolf in the world and one of the most powerful too. Dad is just a coward, that's all."
"I'm not weak. I'm strong."
He nodded and smiled.
"Yes, and you have a lot ahead of you. I promise that Griffin and I will make sure you are always safe, until you fully awaken, no matter how long it takes."
The tears streamed down my cheeks as I nodded at him and turned to look at Griffin.
"Thank you so much. Both of you."
"But most especially me right? Because I'm your mate?"
Lucian asked shyly with a shy smile as he ducked his head.
I laughed and nodded.
"Yes, for today. Most especially you. Thank you Lucian."
"You're welcome."
"Well, at least we know why the old man hates you." Griffin started, then he grinned. "And at least I know the future Luna is going to be one badass wolf."
"When did I say I was going to be the Luna?" I scowled at him.
He shrugged.
"When did you say you weren't?"
"Forget it."
I groaned as I glanced at Lucian who had been staring intently at me.
"Don't ask me, I'm not saying anything."
I warned him, he nodded and backed off to his seat.
It was night, everyone was asleep.
"Right, this is my chance now."
I got up and quickly wore a pair of black sweatpants and a long shirt while taking a flashlight with me.
I was heading to the library, I knew it had a lot of information there and I'm sure information about my people will be there. I just had to find the answers to what actually happened. How did they disappear all of a sudden with no trace? Why was I found alone in the woods, covered in blood?
As I tiptoed my way to the library, I heard a shuffling of footsteps behind me. I stopped and held my breath while checking to see who it was. But the corridor was empty and devoid of anyone. And so I continued, until I was finally inside a big library, filled to the brim with books. The air was musty and dry in here. Meaning no one had entered here in a long time.
"Alright, time to start searching." I made my way to the first shelf.
