Chapter 142 142
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
I shook my head.
"My thoughts exactly. But apparently, he didn't get the powers. He only got the hair and eye color. And now he feels that he deserves it more than she does and he will use it in a way it will benefit him."
"That bastard!" He cursed, running a hand through his hair. "Just great, another Desmond. Just when we thought we were finally done with that, this one comes along."
I shook my head.
"Nah. He won't pose much of a threat to us, especially since he doesn't have powers. If we could defeat Desmond who wants a monster, we can handle him."
He blew out a breath and nodded, one hand rubbing his jaw in thought.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. We can take him."
I slapped his back.
"That's the spirit. From now on, we have to be careful. Any sight of suspicious person or happening in the pack has to be taken note of and reported to me. Alert the men to keep a tight watch over the border in a twenty four hours shift. We'll do our bit by keeping our eyes on the people around her, that way we can anticipate any attack. Right now, I'll go update Kieran on everything. Okay?"
"Okay, noted."
"Ill be off now. Just make sure you go see Aurora"
He chuffed out a laugh, his eyes crinkling at the sides.
"Of course I will. She'll never let me hear the end of it if I don't. See ya later."
"Later man."
I headed towards my office to call Kieran, and let him know that his "sister" is back. I'm not backing down on him saying that he sees Aurora now as a sister.
The phone rang while I twirled around in my chair.
"What is it?" His grumbling voice came through the phone.
"Hello to you too. How are you doing?" I mocked.
He sighed.
"Hi, I'm fine, now get to the point."
I let out a snicker.
"I called to let you know that's Aurora is back."
The sound of the phone dropping startled me and I guess him too, because he picked it back with a "woah".
"Are you there?" I asked.
He cleared his throat.
"I am. Are you serious? Is she back?"
"I would not be joking on something like this Kieran. Yes she is back."
"Thank goodness." I could hear the relief in his voice, it made me smile a little."I'm relieved. How is she?"
"She's great, no injuries or any sort."
"That's good, I should..."
I cut him off quick.
"No, you don't need to come all the way here. I will tell her that you asked if her."
"And if I decide to come still?"
"I guess there's nothing I can do. It wouldn't be bad for her to see her "brother" who misses her."
He was silent for a while.
"You haven't forgotten that."
"You bet I haven't, so keep that in mind. Whenever you feel that emotion for her coming up, send it back by repeating to yourself that she is like a sister to you and so you should not have such thoughts of her. Especially if she is already mated."
"Whatever. I wasn't thinking of her in that sense you bastard."
"Back at you."
He sighed a long sigh.
"Fine, just tell her that I'm glad she's back and that I will call her later."
"As long as you don't do anything stupid, sure. And don't forget to tell Kale too because I know he's still beating himself up for what happened. He might have fooled you but he didn't fool me. Tell him he can now rest."
"I will." He cleared his throat, "Now spill."
"Spill what."
"I think I've come to know when you have something else to say or you would have hung up immediately after you finished speaking. There's more, so say it and save both of our times."
I glared at the phone.
"I don't like that you are getting to know me so well."
"Likewise."
I sat up straight.
"The Auron guy, he's just like Desmond. He wants her powers."
"Her powers? " he growled. "If I'm correct and I usually am, isn't he supposed to be here brother? They should have the same bloodline or whatever. He didn't get his?"
"No, he didn't. Just the hair and eyes. And I don't know where he's getting his information from but he seems to believe that Aurora is evil and doesn't deserve the powers because he thinks she killed Desmond and took his pack from him."
"Really? He said that?"
"Yep. Now, I'm not taking any chances with this guy even though I know we can take him. But I need to be extra careful because we still aren't exactly sure of the man power he has or how far he's willing to go just to get the powers."
"I'll be right here and ready to help in any way I can. Just make sure to call me and we'll be there."
"I knew I could count on you. Thanks." I was sincere.
"You're welcome." A brief pause. "Did she ask of me?"
"Who?" I frowned.
"Aurora." He snapped.
"No, she didn't."
"She didn't?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"How would I know, I didn't stay with her long enough before she could ask me questions like where were you guys."
"Why did you leave and who is she with?" He yelled, I had to pull the phone away from my ears.
"I left her to reunite with Talia and probably my mom by now. I believe I shouldn't be there when the ladies are getting back the time they lost with each other."
A long pause.
"Why do I have the feeling that you left quickly on purpose so that she wouldn't ask of me. Are you still jealous?"
I laughed, feeling exasperated.
"Hey, I'm the one with the girl, she chose me. You are lonely and without the girl. Which of us should be jealous in this situation?"
No answer.
"Exactly, besides, I wouldn't need to lie on purpose, I just had to lie to you and you wouldn't even know. Ha! ha! Don't worry, I'm sure she misses you so much."
"I know she misses me."
"As a brother." I added and laughed out loud, my laughter booming across the walls of my study.
"You know you're just being plain annoying right?"
I shrugged, "Maybe I do and maybe I don't, what's it to you? You know what I think?"
"What?"
"I think you should lighten up. Where is that happy-go-lucky Kieran that appeared that time? We need him now."
His exasperated sigh was the last thing I heard before he hung up, but I still continued to laugh.
