Chapter 126 126
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX
AURORA'S P.O.V
I pulled back, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"A bodyguard? Really? You think that's necessary?"
His face was set in a determined expression.
"I think it's the best way to keep you safe. We don't know what Auron is capable of, when he might try to see you again. I'm sure he wants you to be alone so from now on, you can't be alone."
"Even when you are not around?"
He nodded adamantly.
"Especially when I'm not around. Its either that or I keep you in this room, locked up. You don't get to go outside at all."
I gasped, looking horrified.
"You wouldn't!"
"Try me." He leaned closer, his eyes bright.
I threw my hands up and groaned, exasperated.
"But I can protect myself just fine...and I don't know what it is...but..." I hesitated, "I sort of felt a connection to him."
His eyebrows shot up.
"A connection?! Aurora, there is no damn connection. The only connection there might be is the connection of a predator and a prey. Right now, he is the damn predator. I am your mate, you don't have any other." He raised his eyes up to the ceiling, his face pale. "Please, goddess I can't have another Kieran."
I sighed, knowing he was right, but not wanting to admit it.
"Okay, fine. But I get to choose who it is."
His eyes narrowed.
"No, I get to choose. You're not going to be stuck with some random person who's not capable of protecting you."
I crossed my arms, feeling a spark of defiance.
"I'm not going to be stuck with some overprotective, muscle-brained alpha who thinks he can control me."
His lips twitched, and he pulled me back into his arms.
"I'll have you know, I'm a very reasonable alpha."
I snorted, laughing.
"Sure, that's why you're proposing to either lock me up or assign babysitters to me."
He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"I just want to keep you safe, Aurora. You're my everything. Besides, they are not just anybody, they are people who can keep their eyes on you at all times."
I rolled my eyes, my voice bland.
"Yay. I can't wait to see who will become my babysitter."
.................
...........................
"Hello."
"So we are really doing this?"
I stood spell bound to my feet, staring at Talia and Eleanor as they grinned in front of me. Beside me, Lucian had a very pleased look on his face.
"Them?! They are my bodyguards? Really?"
He shrugged.
"What's wrong with them?"
I shot him a glare.
"What makes you think they can protect me? They are just my best friend and my mother in law? They can barely fight!"
"Hey! We are standing right in front of you, you know?" Talia snapped.
Eleanor clicked her tongue.
"And what makes you think I can't keep my eyes on you? Young lady, I may be old but I can still shift and kick some ass."
"Mom! Language!" Lucian chided.
I slapped my forehead and groaned.
"This is what I mean."
Lucian placed a hand on my waist, smiling.
"They are very close to you, know you like the back of their hands and will not let you slip away from their sight. So you will never be alone and therefore won't give Auron the chance of ever taking you. They are perfect."
"And this way, we get to hang out more." Talia cheered.
"Like we don't hang out enough?"
She shook her head.
"Nope, ninety percent of your time is spent with him..." She glared at Lucian. "...if we let him, he wouldn't even let you out of your damn room."
Lucian snorted.
"I wish I could, but she likes her freedom, and I like her to be happy."
Eleanor clapped her hands.
"That's actually a good thing, this way my grandkids will arrive much sooner. Maybe you should just be the one to watch her when? In the bedroom." She suggested slyly.
Oh my gosh! I closed my eyes, shaking my head wildly, brimming with embarrassment.
"Alright, enough! Fine, I accept them as my babysitters or as you say, bodyguards. Now scram."
I pushed him away, he laughed and waved us bye. I watched him leave at the same time glaring hotly at him.
After he was gone, Talia came up to me and wrapped her arms around me.
"Come on, he just wants you safe. We all want you safe."
I melted, relaxing in her grasp.
"I know, its just that...sometimes I feel like he doesn't believe I can protect myself."
I felt a hand on my head, caressing softly. It was Eleanor's hand.
"That's not true my dear, he knows you're more than capable of protecting yourself."
"Then why? Why the bodyguards or babysitters?" I grumbled.
She chuckled.
"Because he can't stand the thought of you being hurt or being in the line of danger. It's an alpha's instinct to protect what's theirs and they do it passionately. So you have to understand him."
"Fine." I puffed out a breath while trying to hide the blush growing on my cheeks because of the warm feeling I was feeling iny stomach.
"So, what do we do for the next few hours until he gets back?" Talia asked.
Eleanor clapped her hands, a delightful grin on her face.
"Oh, I just know the perfect idea."
........................................
.........................
"You just had to ask, didn't you?"
"I never knew it was going to be like this!"
"Come on girls, dance with me. You aren't moving your bodies well."
Tali and I groaned for the umpteenth time as Eleanor danced around us, I never knew she had those much energy. Her perfect idea of wasting away our time was playing ridiculous, oldies songs from the past and making even more ridiculous movements as dancing. The only movements we could manage was the robotic up and down of our hands and legs. But even that was taking as sweat ran down our faces and necks.
Talia hissed, sweat beaded on her nose.
"Next time, I'm choosing what we're going to do."
"That's if there will be a next time, I can't take those anymore. My feet and hands are killing me." I answered, shaking my head.
At that same moment, Lucian and Griffin walked in, their faces went from confused, to horrified, then a to them trying to hold in their laugh.
"Lucian! Help us!" Talia and I cried out helplessly.
