Chapter 106 106

Chapter 106 106
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIX

LUCIAN'S P.O.V

I stood at the pack boundary, my heart calm as I scanned the area for Kieran and Aurora. Griffin stood beside me, his eyes scanning the horizon. Our men were arrayed behind us, their tired and worn out faces set in determined expressions with their eyes bright, ready to fight to the end.

"Do you think they're going to show?" Griffin asked me, his voice low with concern.

I nodded, my eyes fixed on the distance."They will. I don't think Aurora will even let him back down."

Just then, Kieran arrived, his pack members fanning out behind him. He looked a bit ruffled, his hair disheveled and the sleeves of his shirt and jacket a bit torn. As he walked towards me, I let my eyes roam his men for sight of Aurora but she was not among them. I became alarmed and asked him before he even reached us.

"Where's Aurora?"

He reached me, his face It's calm mask as he nodded to Griffin.
"She said she had somewhere to go to first before coming here."

I frowned, a sense of unease creeping up my spine.
"Where could that be?"

He shook his head, a helpless look on his face.
"She wouldn't say, she just told me to tell you that she will be back."

Flashes of the conversation I had with Desmond regarding where Aurora's love lay, ran through my head. No, she wouldn't abandon me.

'Of course, she would never abandon us. Get that thought out of your head.' My wolf snapped at me.

I shook myself and nodded at him.
"Alright. Did you have any trouble with his men?"

He shrugged, his hands in his pocket as he looked into the distance.
"No. They were just annoying. Easy to get rid of."

I nodded, saying nothing. We all stood, our bodies alert with the knowledge of the incoming battle.

Just then, we saw dust coming from the distance and soon Desmond arrived, his men arrayed behind him like blocks of sheep. Their number was so vast that even with Kieran's men, we still looked small compared to them. But that didn't mean we lost our courage.

As soon as he saw Griffin and I, his eyes went wide and round. He turned and looked at his men frantically.

"How! How did they escape?" Then he faced us, his face red, his eyes morphing completely into black. "How did you escape? Who let you all out?" He howled, his hands balled into fists.

I stepped forward.
"It was easy, this had been my plan all along."

"What do you mean by plan?"

I smirked.
"Desmond, you were too stupid and foolish to think that all of a sudden I would end up weak and helpless in your grasp just like that? Without a plan? Everything, from when your men captured me to your men being attacked at their sentry post were all a plan that I carefully weaved by myself and you fell for it. Hook, line and sinker."

His eyes seemed to shine even blacker, he threw back his head and gave an earth shattering roar, but we stood firm staring at him.

"You...you tricked me. You tricked me! All for what? To save those damn peasant. Come on, the world would be a better place without people like them or you who keeps trying to deny me what's mine."

"What is actually yours?" I growled, frustration laced in my voice. "All those tales you told me about losing your mate to a rogue attack and hating my mother because of it, are they even true? Or was it just another lie to justify yourself and make me hate my mother? Because I'm very sure that even you do not know what is true and false again."

He let out a deep growl.
"Of course they are true. I lost my real mate all because of your bloody mother. When I first came here and got rid of your father, my twin brother, I found her. She was the link to my reason, she made me start to think that maybe I could finally be loved for me. Because she was mine. My mate. But then I lost her and the mission I had almost abandoned flared again in my blood as hatred consumed me. And I'm not going to stop until all the packs in the world finally acknowledges me as their leader. Then they will all love and respect me. And your so called mate, happens to be the main key to what I want, is available, and there is no way I'm ever giving up. Never."

His words rang out, echoing around us. I lowered my head, clenching my trembling hands as I opened my mouth to speak, despite the anger coursing through me. All this happened because he wanted to be loved but couldn't find the right way to do it.

"You know, Desmond, you could have still gotten the love and respect that you searched for if only you had done it the right way. By loving and appreciating the people around you, your pack and the family you managed to snatch away from my innocent father." I gritted my teeth, my eyes feeling hot. "
If you had just done that, they in turn would have loved and appreciated you but instead you just to be a monster to them. How the hell did you think you would ever get loved? Mom would have loved you if you had just forgiven her and let everything go. It's not like she called the rogues to attack your mate, you fucking bastard!!"

"Lucian, calm down." Griffin pulled me back with his hand. I panted, I didn't even know I had been walking towards him.

A crazy laugh suddenly rang out, we turned to see Desmond laughing uncontrollably.

"He says love...and appreciation? If they didn't do it first why should I? Your silly mate's clan just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and I felt they had to go. But who would have known that one will actually survive and I could use her for my own good." He wiped his eyes and sneered at me. "Lecture all you want, what matters is that I'm not leaving here today until I get what I want."

"Fine by me, because you aren't leaving here alive." I raised my hand and roared. "Charge!!!"
