CHAPTER 40
Lila’s POV.
His hands wrapped around my body, teasing me. He was a different man, or so he said, as some nights when I never wanted it. He let go of me, wrapping his arms around me even when I could feel his dick poking me from behind.
He never asked for more, but I could see some signs around as the gossip concerning me continued to drop until I heard no more from them.
My movements in the house had become something worthy of the position of Luna as it started with Lady Helga. I walked into the kitchen, tying an apron around my waist when she came up to me, holding her arms outstretched.
“What’s the matter? I hope I haven’t done something wrong?” I asked, looking around as I had barely touched a kitchen material.
“You seem to forget the reason they brought you to this castle,” she answered as she walked towards me, wrapping her arms around me.
I thought she was going for a hug as she slithered the apron around my waist. “But I need the apron to cook, Lady Helga,” I said, stretching my hands to retrieve the apron, but she had moved out of my arm’s length.
“You will cook when you want to cook, Lila, and not because of some rules the head of the maids placed,” she said as she moved away, putting the apron into the hands of one servant walking past her.
I shook my head, trying to grasp a bit of the situation, but it was slippery as I stuttered, walking up to her. “I don’t understand.”
“What more don’t you understand?” She asked, throwing me a smile I felt was different, all thrown together in a mix to please me.
This wasn’t Lady Helga who was ready to rip out your neck if you missed the timing to pour in a spoon of salt into a dish.
“Don’t you know why the alpha brought you to the pack?” She asked again, moving away from me like she was eager to have me away from her sight. It was the opposite of the past few months, where she expected me to be the first person she saw on duty, if not on time.
“He took me from my pack to make me his mate,” I answered, shrugging my shoulders as probably all of them knew, but still made me work as a maid inside the castle. The sudden change was more of a shocker as I turned around to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
“That’s exactly why you are here, and I have done my best to teach you the best way to serve him better,” she said as she turned towards me. “The only time I think I’d need you here is when we would need someone to serve the alpha his meal personally.”
“I can stick around with you as I still have more to learn,” I said, not wanting to do nothing and spend the day in the alpha’s room without having prior knowledge of his comings and goings.
Lady Helga heaved a deep breath, staring me in the eyes before she turned away. “Do whatever you want,” she said as she walked away, moving towards the cooking of a chef in front of us.
I sighed as I walked around her like a child to its mother. I had refused to have sex with the alpha for the past two days, feeling there was a motive behind his call.
Kyril was another piece on the board for me, as I had avoided him through this time. I did not want him to fight for something as unreasonable as me while putting his life at stake. It would hurt me more than it would hurt him, and I did not want that for him, but my situation made me feel conflicted.
“If you do not feel well enough to be here. I assure you, this isn’t the best place for you to lose sight of whatever you are doing,” Lady Helga said as she stood in front of me. Her frown had returned, but it seemed lighter.
“I’m sorry,” I apologized, turning away from her path. My movements must have been a relief to her as I walked away from the kitchen, heading back to my room.
The sound of fighting echoed around the castle. It was almost normal as the men trained most times, but this was louder than normal. I shook my head, removing curiosity as I strolled back to my room.
The guards opened the door, letting me in while I made my way to the bed. I dropped on it, holding my hand above my head as I thought about what next to do. I was used to the maid's life, and it changed to almost the life I used to have.
I sighed, blowing air at the dust that danced through the sun’s rays passing through the window.
“Who’s there?”
I called out as I had seen a shadow pass by the door, heading towards the bathroom and the blood smell was no enemy to me as it reached my nose. The smell jerked me off the bed, causing me to move from where I was.
“Who else would be?”
“I didn’t see you,” I muttered, falling back to the bed as I recognized Alpha Hector’s voice. He came back to the room with a frown on his face, pulling off his blood-stained shirt.
There were some cut marks on his body as he moved towards the mirror with his hair and hand dripping with water.
“What happened?” I asked as I moved behind him, crossing my hands over his body.
He growled, shrugging me off. “I don’t think it’s any concern of yours.”
He sneered as he dropped his pants, moving out of the room naked.
I sighed, walking back to the bed while the sound of water sloshing reached my ears. He came out after a few minutes, dripping with water and smelling like fruits.
I had ignored his presence, turning over to face the wall as I felt bored out of my mind. I wanted to do something, but everyone ignored me like I never insisted. Lady Helga chased me out of the kitchen and my bath water wasn’t even fetched by me anymore.
People talked about me at least. Gossip flew around the castle whenever they knew he fucked me with those eyes, judging me, but no one did it.
Water dripped to my body jolting me from my thoughts as I turned around to alpha Hector staring at me. His eyes had returned to their former cold nature as he stared at me. He grabbed at me, pulling at my clothes.
“What’s ...” The question could not leave my lips just as he ripped the clothes from my body.
His hardened dick was against my skin as he tried to force himself on me, kissing my lips forcefully. I could swear he would have cut me if he forced himself longer.
He pulled away, staring at me like he had not done what I saw him do.
“What’s happening?” I asked, feeling my eyes burn with tears, but he said nothing, stepping to the ground.
I lay on the bed, even when he left me untouched, grabbing at any piece of clothing before walking past the door.
“I should have known,” I said to myself as I wrapped my hands around my clothes, pulling them around my body. A cold air wrapped me with goosebumps appearing over my body.
“Kyril.”
His name came to my lips. A forgotten one that I needed to make amends to.
