Chapter 37

Lila’s POV.

Lady Helga stepped in front of me as I wiped my hands, dropping the dirty dishes into the pile for the maids responsible to take over.

I lowered my head as I recognized who stood before me.

“Follow me.”

She said nothing after walking away from the kitchen. I trailed after her with a lowered head. Alpha Hector had me sitting on his lap in front of Kyril and top officials who had come visiting, but it was not up to her bark as we walked to the path leading to Alpha Hector’s room.

“What are we doing here?” I asked, although it wasn’t loud for her hearing, but I felt more confused as she called in some maids as we continued until we were in the hallway proper.

She stopped at my door, moving inside like she didn’t mean to enter inside. “Pack everything inside the room and send it to the alpha’s room,” she said, swiping her hands around the room.

“What is happening?” I asked, rushing to her side as her orders seemed like something that was straight out of a dream.

“The alpha wants me to move your things to his room. I do not know why and I want you to do just as he ordered me,” she said as she moved away as the maids moved in, packing everything they thought was of value to me inside boxes.

“I can’t stay with him,” I whispered to her as I moved closer to Lady Helga, hoping the ladies would not hear me pleading.

She turned away from me, pushing my hands away as she went to supervise the girls, making sure they moved everything.

I watched as they moved my stuff into boxes, moving it with them while Lady Helga followed behind them.

“Do you need special permission before you join us to arrange your things in your room?” She asked as she turned towards me, opening the black hand fan she held to fan herself.

I shook my head as I trailed behind them, staring at a room I barely called my own before alpha Hector owned me. I held my hands in my chest as I thought of every outcome that could happen.

I carried the remaining boxes, hoping the alpha could change his mind in a split second and stop us from moving the things, but it never happened as we continued to walk in silence towards the alpha’s door.

My legs took me further, walking next to Lady Helga. There must be something she could do to stop me from staying with the alpha. It was already torture for me staying next to his room. I could not imagine what would happen to me if I were to stay with him every single night.

“I know what you want to ask of me, Lila, and I can not do it for you,” Lady Helga said before I could open my mouth to say a word.

“Why does he want me to stay in his room? We aren’t married yet.”

“One, he is alpha. Two, he can do whatever he pleases, and that involves you moving to his room,” she said without turning to face me.

I could feel my face burn up with the tears gathering just under my eyelid. I was done for, and it was as clear as a shadow in daylight.

“Halt.”

A guard at the door said, stopping us before we got any closer to the Alpha’s door.

Lady Helga moved forward, folding her hand fan back into place. “The alpha wanted me to do something for him,” she said.

He looked at her and stared at us, examining us with his eyes. “The alpha has given us no such orders about something like this,” he said after his examination, turning his gaze towards Lady Helga.

“What do you want us to do? Go back to the alpha and tell him that one of his guards doesn’t want us to move the things he wanted inside his room?”

I agreed with it, nodding my head in response as that would give me another chance or change the alpha’s mind.

“You know how the alpha is, and he doesn’t take it lightly with those who disobey his orders,” Lady Helga said, sweeping open her fan and fanning herself.

“The.... alpha didn’t tell us about bringing things to his room,” the guards stuttered, turning to his counterpart, who already looked shaken from Lady Helga’s words.

“That means you want me to head back to the alpha, relay your words to him, and bring back his orders before you let us into his room?”

The guard shook his head as his counterpart pushed open the door for us to pass through.

Lady Helga walked in with a smile. She stood at the door, gesturing for us to walk in with my things.

The girls dropped the things inside the room, admiring the room as they walked past the mini living room, dropping the stuff into the bedroom.

Only sighs escaped my lips as I could not imagine how much worse my life could be with the changes that were happening.

The sound of a wardrobe opening drew my attention as Lady Helga stood in front of it. She spent some time in front of it, caressing the wooden structure for some time. “Put the clothes inside here,” she ordered, stepping away with her hands pointing to the wardrobe. “That includes you, Lila. Move in the rest of your clothes inside here. I would not want the alpha coming to a messed up room.”

I nodded my head, packing the clothes and folding them into the wardrobe. It had a familiar scent, like the one around Kyril. I shook it off, arranging the clothes inside while the maids cleaned whatever dirt followed my things into the alpha’s room.

“Time to leave.”

Lady Helga clapped her hands before turning towards me. “Not you.”

I stopped to her hand on my shoulder, watching as the maids left, leaving just her and me in the room. I thought she wanted to say something motivating to me as we waited until the room was dead quiet.

“Make sure you do nothing to anger him. He seems to be in a good mood lately, and I would not want to spend some of my time in the dungeon to pick you like the last time.”

I stood transfixed in my position as I had not expected such from her. She turned around, walking past the open doors, flashing a grin to the guard who still looked tensed from what happened.

“Someone is still inside. Help her with whatever she needs,” Lady Helga said, turning in my direction before she walked away.

The door remained open for a while before they shut it, enveloping in darkness. It would take a while before the man came in to light the castle fires.

I stood in the room, feeling around. The scents were not new to me, as the alpha had them on him whenever he wasn’t drunk and forcing me to fuck him.

“What am I doing here?”

The question came after I remained for so long with no one coming into the room. I had to leave, settle some things right before I came back to stay with the alpha.

“I have to see Kyril,” I said to myself as I stepped out of the room. I could hear the sound of laughter ringing from the dining. He said he’d spend some time in the rose section and it sounded like a message to me.

I sighed as I walked outside the castle with one question in my head, and he better had the answer I was looking for.
