CHAPTER 22: YOU ARE MY LIFE
CHAPTER 22: YOU ARE MY LIFE
We arrived at the apartment, and Harry keeps sneezing. He hasn't stopped since we got in the car.
"Bless you!" I say, surprised by the strange sound of his sneeze.
"Thank you," Harry says, smiling.
"Are you okay?" I ask, looking him up and down.
"Yes, I'm fine," he smiles and sneezes again.
"Sir, Madam, I'm glad you're here," Valentina says, hurrying towards us.
"What's going on?" Harry asks, sounding serious.
"Mrs. Amanda called. She sounded very upset and wanted to talk to Mrs. Allison."
I look at Harry with concern. He looks tense and furrows his brow.
"What did she want to talk to Allison about?" he asks, annoyed.
"The lady didn't tell me. She just asked me to tell Mrs. Allison to call her as soon as she arrived," Valentina says nervously.
"That's what she said, I'll do it," I reply and walk towards the phone, but I have to pass in front of Harry.
"No," Harry says, grabbing my arm and making me stop.
"What does it matter? I want to know what she wants now," I say, looking him in the eyes.
"I'll go talk to her tomorrow. For now, let's just be left alone," Harry says and then smiles. "Valentina, can you make us some tea?" Valentina nods. "And if my mother calls, tell her we're not here."
"What if she gets more upset?" I ask curiously.
"Let my father calm her down," he says, releasing my arm and sneezing again. "We should go take a shower."
"Take a shower?" I say, surprised and raising my voice.
"Calm down. You in your bathroom, and me in mine," he responds and winks at me.
"Oh, yes, sure. I'll go first," I cover my reddened cheeks and quickly walk towards the stairs.
"But if you want, we can do it together," Harry says, making me stop abruptly and my cheeks turn even redder.
"N-no, like this, I'm fine," I say without looking at him, and I hear a small laugh escape his mouth.
"Whatever you say," he says in a teasing tone and sneezes again.
I finish showering and look at my phone. I have many missed calls from Ana and others from Amanda. I also have a message from Imanol asking if I'm okay.
I haven't responded to Imanol's messages. I think maybe I should do it and finally clarify what happened. It's not fair to let him believe that I'm waiting for him.
I have to tell him what has happened, but I'm not ready yet. I need time, but I swear I will.
I turn off my phone and put it on my bedside table. I get up and walk towards the door of my room, opening it and peeking my head out, looking for Harry. Not seeing him, I leave my room and walk toward his.
"What if he's still showering?" I whisper while I'm about to knock on the door. "What if he already came downstairs?" I question and turn to look down.
I search everywhere I can see, but I can't find him, so I decided to turn around to knock on the door. But just as I do, I collide with his hard and firm chest.
"Ouch!" I complain, feeling a slight pain in my nose.
I try to separate myself from his chest quickly, but Harry wraps his strong, large arms around me, pulling me closer to him.
"Seriously, is it legal to have so many muscles?" my conscience asks.
"Shhh," I hiss at my conscience.
"No one is talking," Harry says in a playful tone.
"Do you want a drool tray, dear?" my meddling conscience speaks up again.
"Uh, you're squeezing me a little," I respond to Harry, and my cheeks blush even more.
"Uh, um, sorry," Harry says nervously and releases his grip.
"Are you feeling better now?" I ask, looking at the ground.
"Now that I see you, obviously I am," he says, placing his fingers under my chin and lifting my face.
"I'm glad," I say, avoiding his eyes.
"Are you an apple?" he says, smiling.
"An...? Oh!" I say, raising my hands to cover my cheeks.
"Take your hands away; let me see them," he says, placing his hands over mine and making me lower them. "You're beautiful."
I look at him and feel my body tremble. I analyze his face, and it's beautiful—his brown eyes, thick eyebrows, chestnut hair, and those plump, pink lips. Without a doubt, he is a very handsome man.
"It's late; we should go to sleep," he says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, I...," I don't finish speaking as he places one of his fingers on my lips.
"Forgive me, for everything," he says almost in a whisper. I look at him and see sincerity in his eyes.
"Forgive me too, for everything," I look at him, and a tear starts rolling down my cheek.
"No, don't cry. I forgive you," he says, looking into my eyes and wiping my tear away.
"I forgive you too," I say, and he smiles.
"Go to sleep."
"Can I sleep with you?" I ask nervously, and he turns as red as a tomato. "You're blushing too," I say playfully. Harry looks at me and clears his throat.
"It was a joke, right?" he says, and I nod.
"Good night," I say and tiptoe to kiss him on the cheek.
Harry realizes what I'm about to do and turns his face, causing my lips to meet his. For a moment, I stay still, but he starts moving his lips, and I follow his lead.
This kiss is sweet and tender, very tender. With each kiss, I feel closer to him and afraid of falling in love.
I pull away from his lips slightly and look into his eyes.
"You taste like tea," I say and laugh.
"Do you want to taste a bit more?" he says mischievously, and I shake my head.
"It's late; I should go," I say, completely separating myself from him and walking toward my room.
I open my eyes, and the light makes me close them again. I hear a gentle knocking on my bedroom door, and I immediately get up.
"Who is it?" I ask, pressing my ear against the door.
"Your husband," I hear Harry's voice.
"I'll open it right away," I say nervously and rush to the bathroom.
My hair is messy, and I still have pillow marks on my face. I quickly comb my hair, wash my face, and brush my teeth, and then I hurry back to the door.
Upon opening it, I find Harry, looking very well-dressed in a suit. I'm getting used to seeing him like this quite often.
"Good morning, wife," he says with amusement, and I smile.
"Good morning, husband," I reply and laugh again.
"What are you doing this afternoon?" he asks nervously.
"I don't have anything planned. Why?" I question with curiosity.
"There's a place I want to take you to," he clears his throat and continues, "I'll pick you up at five, is that okay?" he asks, and I nod.
"Yes, that sounds good," I reply, and he smiles.
"See you later. I'll be eagerly waiting for that hour," he says with excitement, and I...
