Chapter 7

Krish's eyes, which had been slightly foggy with alcohol, suddenly became clear and complex.

I didn't say anything further; I just closed my bedroom door tightly and locked it.

I didn't know when it started, but Krish began relentlessly giving me gifts and picking me up and dropping me off at work.

People in the company envied me for having such a good husband.

I just coldly watched him pretending to care, like a clown.

When Elsie called, Krish was right next to me.

Hearing the painful cries from the other end of the line, I urged him, "You should go check on her; it's been months. Don't let anything happen."

I was being so understanding, yet Krish's expression grew increasingly unsettling.

"Sophie, don't you care about me anymore?"

I pretended not to hear him and continued urging, "Hurry up; the child is too important."

"Sophie!"

He was becoming more and more loud and confrontational. I was afraid he would start shouting, so I pretended not to hear him and didn't respond.

Krish still went.

When he returned, I was watching a movie.

He looked somewhat disheartened: "Elsie's child didn't survive."

Seeing this, I picked up a tissue to wipe my tears; the movie's plot was just too touching.

Krish was shocked to see me crying. He stood there, about to say something, but I spoke first-

"The female lead suffered so much."

Krish glared at me through gritted teeth: "Sophie, how much longer are you going to act like this? It's been so long; her child is gone, and we should be living our lives!"

I didn't want to respond to him, but he wouldn't let it go.

"Elsie must be very sad. You should spend more time with her these days to show her your love."

After wiping my tears, I lazily replied.

Krish not only didn't answer me but suddenly tried to hug me.

I couldn't help but take a step back, my expression revealing my resistance.

He looked somewhat hurt, staring at me in shock.

After a while, he gently said, "Sophie, what do you want? I'll give you anything. Please don't keep this up… Let's go back to how things were before, okay?"

My expression became serious: "I don't want anything; I just want a divorce."

"Impossible!"

When he said it was impossible, did that really mean it was impossible?

Elsie, recovering from childbirth, began frequently coming to the office with my tacit approval. Everyone knew her relationship with the boss was close.

Krish always politely escorted her downstairs.

But she would come again next time.

Slowly, the company started buzzing with rumors.

However, there was no substantial evidence.

Krish, Elsie, and I were all very calm about it.

I, as the boss's wife, warmly welcomed Elsie, stating that she was a good friend of Krish.

The staff could only secretly discuss, saying I was too foolish.

The situation escalated, and during one meeting, the biggest partner of the company hinted to Krish to handle his family affairs properly.

This partner had a decisive role in the company's development, so it couldn't be ignored.

But he couldn't resist Elsie, so he could only give up on me.

"Sophie, is this what you want?"

Krish apologized to the partner, drunk out of his mind.

I looked at him coldly.

"You don't need to worry; after we divorce, just wait a year before you remarry, and no one will say anything."

Krish's eyes suddenly turned red: "Sophie, you weren't like this before. You loved me."

"I told you a long time ago that I don't love you anymore, but you just wouldn't believe it."
