Chapter 207: Creator of the Galactic Aurora Collective
["Boss, Nightfall seems to have gone to Galactic Aurora Collective's abandoned lab. Should we intercept?"]
What was Alexander doing at Galactic Aurora Collective's abandoned lab?
Catherine quickly replied to the message.
["No need, let him be."]
Since Alexander wanted to investigate, even if she stopped him now, he would find his own way to investigate thoroughly.
In that lab, everything that should be destroyed had been destroyed, leaving no traces behind.
Catherine wasn't worried about Alexander finding anything he shouldn't see.
Mercury looked at the images transmitted back by satellite, clicking his tongue in amazement.
"Nightfall is truly Catherine's man - his methods are just as ruthless as Catherine's. The dark web will be ours from now on!"
Faceless Ones was theirs, Shadow Syndicate belonged to Catherine's fiancé - what's the difference between that and it all being theirs?
Mars chimed in with a sigh: "Never thought we'd have a day where we could just coast along. It's all thanks to Catherine!"
At the dinner table, Felix was still reminiscing about the past.
Marcus got a bit annoyed listening and interrupted him: "I remember your son has three sons, right? Alexander is the youngest? Where are those kids?"
"Yeah, Alexander's two older brothers are married with kids, but Alexander is still single. Otherwise, why would I be so anxious? The kids are all grown up with their own things to do, and I've got no one to keep me company!"
The Howard family was different from the Windsor family. Marcus only had Brandon as his child, and his relatives weren't complicated either.
The Howard family had been quite chaotic since the generation that built their fortune, with constant infighting before Alexander took over the Howard family affairs. Things only calmed down after Alexander came to power.
Even now, undercurrents still flowed beneath the surface, with many people secretly watching and waiting for opportunities, wanting to snatch the family fortune from the Howard Group.
Felix shook his head.
"That incident back then hit them hard, especially Alexander. Alexander went abroad for several years without any news. When he came back, he was covered in injuries, but he told me that from then on, he would hold up the Howard family."
Felix's face looked weathered, with a smile that was both gratified and bittersweet.
"I'm old! This family is broken and scattered. Alexander's two older brothers are also busy with work. At this age, I can't keep clinging to the kids, right?"
"Should've listened to Franklin back then and not gotten involved in the Howard family's mess! At least the family could've stayed together."
Marcus snorted coldly, "Franklin just talks a good game. He's more confused than anyone. Wasn't it him who insisted on founding that Galactic Aurora Collective back then?"
Catherine's eyebrow twitched slightly.
She looked at Marcus, "Grandpa, the Galactic Aurora Collective you're talking about - is it the one at the border?"
Marcus waved his hand dismissively, though his eyes showed a hint of melancholy.
"Doesn't matter. I heard it doesn't exist anymore. I really regret not blowing up Galactic Aurora Collective's lab back then."
"Come on, you wanted to blow up Galactic Aurora Collective? Their lab is still at the border. Go ahead and blow it up, let me see! I bet you'd get chopped down by Timothy the moment you enter the border."
Galactic Aurora Collective's lab was made of special materials - it really wasn't that easy to destroy.
What surprised Catherine was that Marcus and Felix clearly knew something about Galactic Aurora Collective's past.
They said Franklin was the founder of Galactic Aurora Collective?
Marcus said indignantly: "I just can't stand Franklin's way of doing things! Taking perfectly good kids and using them for experiments - what a sin!"
Felix shook his head.
"Alright, stop talking nonsense. It's all in the past. Don't you know Franklin is a madman? To achieve his ideal, wasn't he the first to experiment on himself? Besides..."
Felix didn't finish the rest of his sentence. He just shook his head with a complicated expression and looked at the younger generation before him.
"If you encounter people from Galactic Aurora Collective out there, don't get involved with them! Most people who come out of that place are crazy."
Catherine quietly pressed her temple.
If she told the Windsor family and Felix now that she had also stayed at Galactic Aurora Collective, would it scare them?
Catherine pursed her lips and said softly: "Grandpa, I'm starting school next month. I noticed our school principal is also named Franklin. Is it the same name?"
"Starting school? Great, great! I'll take you there! Wait, what did you say your principal's name is? Franklin!"
When Marcus heard Catherine was going to university, his face lit up with joy.
Hearing the second half of the sentence, he completely lost his composure!
Marcus sat up abruptly and hurriedly pulled Felix into the study.
"Catherine, wait while I go check this out!"
Clearly, Marcus and Felix were very concerned about the name Franklin.
Juniper watched their hurried departure, "What's wrong with Grandpa? Is this Franklin important? Does George have surgery today? Why didn't he come back for dinner?"
Aurora smiled gently: "He said he's busy, told us not to wait for him. He practically treats the hospital as his home! Catherine, you're about to start university. Don't feel any pressure. You're the youngest child in our family, and I don't have any demands of you."
Aurora cupped her face, looking at Catherine with eyes full of love.
"I raised your brothers and sisters without much discipline, who knew they'd all be so smart? At first, I thought your father and I are ordinary people, so we should accept our children being average. When your eldest brother got a perfect score on his first test, I thought it was just good genes!"
Brandon nodded eagerly beside her.
"Yes, yes, who knew the other kids would be so smart too! Our genes really are excellent! Catherine, don't worry. As long as our family's children are happy, that's what matters. We'll support whatever you do."
Brandon and Aurora were both worried that the family being too outstanding would pressure Catherine.
They had seen too many news stories about kids getting depressed and committing suicide from academic pressure, and they were terrified.
It was fine if the Windsor family's children were a bit average - besides, Catherine was already outstanding enough!
Toward Catherine, Brandon and Aurora were always extra careful, subconsciously wanting to make up for her past trauma.
Catherine nodded, "I understand."
Aurora continued: "Juniper mentioned bringing that child from the Hughes family to stay at our house for a few days. Where is she? I've already arranged a room."
"That poor child has it so hard. How much suffering must she endure living in the Hughes family? If her mother were still alive, she'd be heartbroken!"
The Hughes family's behavior had always been criticized in high society.
Just the fact that Maurice and Michael were both illegitimate sons who made it onto the family registry and held positions in the Hughes family showed what kind of person Anthony was.
Growing up in that kind of place really wasn't easy!
Aurora was reminded of Catherine's past life, and her heart ached.
Catherine knew that Aurora cared because she loved her, and because she loved her, she also cared about her friends.
"I'll call her later and ask."
"Good! Make sure she comes! I'd love to have another daughter!"
In the corner, the housekeeper Lucy watched the Windsor family's harmonious scene and quietly slipped away to call Esme.
