Chapter 206 Concealing the Truth
Since their last meeting, Ethan knew Alexander would definitely come looking for him again.
Or rather, come looking for Matthew, who knew everything.
Alexander casually tossed aside the blood-stained knife in his hand and took off his gloves to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth.
It wasn't his blood, but it still smelled fishy and foul.
Alexander found a seat and sat down. The people following him immediately stood behind him, invisibly forming two camps with Ethan's people.
Alexander was surrounded by a chilling aura, sneering coldly at Ethan in front of him.
"Since you knew I'd come, you still arranged for Thunderstrike Mercenaries to come here and die. You've got guts."
"Well, you said it yourself—they're here to die. I never expected them to actually take you down. What a shame, Nightfall is still Nightfall."
Ethan smiled darkly, his eyes showing no trace of actual regret.
When he was in Imperia City, the Windsor family had made his life hell. He almost couldn't leave Stellara at all. Go back to the border and live looking at other people's faces again?
He couldn't do it!
Neither Faceless Ones nor Shadow Syndicate should rank above Abyssal Blades. His painstakingly built organization would eventually become the only king of the border!
Too bad Thunderstrike Mercenaries and the Hughes family combined were so useless. What a disappointment!
Alexander's words seemed to carry frost.
"I'm in a hurry and don't want to waste words with you. Give me Matthew, or you die."
"What's the difference? I'm curious—how did you survive being attacked by so many people?"
Alexander narrowed his eyes slightly and released the safety on his revolver.
The people behind Ethan simultaneously raised their guns, aiming at Alexander!
Ethan waved his hand. "Put them down. Fighting is boring."
"Nightfall, I can't give you the person, but you can ask your questions here!"
This was Ethan's biggest concession. As a heavyweight figure in Abyssal Blades, Matthew held a crucial position in the organization. He couldn't let Alexander take him away.
Alexander nodded slightly and handed his gun to Annie behind him.
Ethan visibly relaxed and had someone bring Matthew out.
Matthew acted as if he didn't see the messy corpses on the ground, smiling at Alexander.
"Nightfall, long time no see. Just you alone? Blackfire didn't come?"
Alexander wasn't here to catch up with him and had no time for small talk.
"Answer my questions. If I'm satisfied, you live."
"Go ahead and ask."
"The person giving you orders is Sirius from Galactic Aurora Collective, right?"
Alexander's face was cold as ice, each word carrying a chill. "My mother's death—what does it have to do with Galactic Aurora Collective?"
Matthew looked stunned for a moment.
"Sirius? I don't know what his code name is. But your mother's death was still due to internal conflict within the Howard family. As for whether Galactic Aurora Collective was involved, I don't know. I don't have the clearance to investigate that much."
"I can only tell you that his capabilities are beyond your imagination."
"At least, he's powerful enough to help us safely escape from Imperia City back to the border."
And powerful enough to let so many Thunderstrike Mercenaries openly go to Imperia City and even dig up the highway!
Alexander sneered coldly, his eyes sharp as a blade.
He turned and took the gun from Annie's hand. Before anyone could react, he quickly pulled the trigger, the bullet hitting Ethan's leg!
"This is the price for provoking me. There are too many people in Abyssal Blades—keeping just you guys is enough."
As soon as Alexander finished speaking, the people behind him simultaneously pulled their triggers. A wave of Abyssal Blades assassins fell!
"Two Shadow Syndicate members died. Someone has to pay."
Ethan clutched his bleeding thigh, his eyes bloodshot!
Alexander turned to leave, his gaze cold as a demon from hell.
Ethan stared at the assassin corpses beside him, gritting his teeth. "Does he really think we can't do anything to him?"
Matthew rummaged through the medical kit while responding, "For now, we really can't."
Currently, apart from members out on missions, only the three of them were left in Abyssal Blades, and they were either sick or injured.
Matthew's gaze behind his glasses paused.
"But we still have the boss!"
Alexander walked out of Abyssal Blades' territory and let out a long sigh, his brow still carrying a heavy chill.
Annie pulled out her phone and handed it over. "Mr. Howard, it's Catherine calling. Do you want to answer?"
Alexander took the phone and pressed the answer button, his tone instantly becoming gentle.
"Catherine, what's wrong?"
"Where are you?"
"At the border. The Howard Group has some trade here. A few factories had problems, so I came to handle it. Is something wrong?"
Catherine frowned slightly. There was a heavy sound of wind and sand on his end, which didn't sound like a factory—more like an outdoor location.
She had called because she remembered that last night when Alexander stood on her balcony, he had a strong smell of blood on him.
"Nothing. Felix is asking when you're coming back."
Since Felix moved in, he ate with the Windsor family every day. As soon as he sat at the table, he thought of Alexander.
Who knows what's so important about company business!
Leaving such a beautiful fiancée without spending time with her, just knowing how to work!
Felix got angry thinking about how clueless Alexander was. His eyes rolled, and he simply said his phone was dead and asked Catherine to make the call for him.
Alexander also heard Felix's vigorous voice, most of the content cursing him!
"Soon. I'll come back as soon as I finish handling things here."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Alexander's gaze fell on the ruins in the distance.
Annie felt worried. "Mr. Howard, if you don't tell Catherine the truth and she finds out, will she be angry?"
"It's fine. If I don't do these things, she'll do them herself. Better she's angry than in danger."
When Alexander lost his mother years ago, he swore this kind of thing would never happen again.
He smiled. "If I'm in danger and Catherine doesn't care, that's also a good thing."
Annie opened her mouth but couldn't find words.
She couldn't quite understand Alexander's thinking anymore. When you like someone, shouldn't you want them to worry about you, then act pitiful?
If Alexander knew, wouldn't he be very touched?
Alexander strode toward the ruins.
"Let's go. Let's check out Galactic Aurora Collective's abandoned lab. And investigate that Sirius—I want detailed information on him!"
Let him see what kind of life she lived before!
At the Windsor Mansion dining table.
After cursing Alexander, Felix started cursing his three children, from his daughter to his two sons. Only after cursing them all did he feel satisfied.
Marcus snorted coldly. "Just shut up. At least I have all my children and grandchildren around me. Die mad about it."
"Marcus, what good does it do you if you really make me die of anger?"
"It'll let me eat more."
Felix rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Eat until you burst! Catherine, don't blame Alexander. That boy just thinks too much! After all, he watched his mother die back then. I can tell he really likes you!"
This was the first time Catherine heard Felix talk about what happened to Alexander's mother.
"Back then, Alexander hid in a closet. Enemies came to the door, and his mother, right in front of him...! I shouldn't tell you these sad things, but I just hope you can give Alexander a chance!"
Felix spoke earnestly. Catherine was also shocked by what she heard.
She nodded, agreeing.
An encrypted message arrived on her phone.
[Boss, half an hour ago, Nightfall wiped out most of Abyssal Blades and injured Ethan!]
Catherine raised her eyebrows slightly.
So Alexander didn't go to handle business?
