Chapter 121: Catherine Meets Lila!
Catherine glanced at the message on her phone and handed it to Marcus.
"She wants you to go get it? Just ignore her. She has to agree to the divorce whether she likes it or not. The plane's already arranged - we're sending her away tomorrow!"
Marcus had no patience left when he thought about Lila's years of unreasonable behavior!
Because of their special marriage circumstances, he had lived at the military base for years in his early days. After Elodie passed away, he became disillusioned with relationships. That's when Lila showed up with a child, claiming it was his.
Marcus was confused about when he could have had a child with Lila, but young Lila kept crying, saying he had gotten drunk and made advances on her!
After the DNA test confirmed the child was his, Marcus married Lila under orders from above. And just like that, many years passed!
Bethany was indeed his son, but as for who Bethany's mother really was - that was another story.
Perhaps he'd been deceived for over fifty years!
Marcus looked at Alexander and said in a deep voice, "Since she won't give up and insists Catherine go get the divorce papers, Alexander, go with Catherine. Remember, you're from the Howard family, not the Windsor family!"
"Yes, I understand. I'll protect Catherine."
Marcus nodded with satisfaction.
He sent Alexander because it wasn't appropriate for the Windsor family to get involved at this point. Alexander was Catherine's fiancé and the head of the Howard family - even Lila wouldn't dare kick him out.
Samuel looked at Catherine with a beaming smile.
"Catherine, I'm going to buy you a jewelry design company. You can use it for practice, and whatever pieces you design, just make them - I'll take them all!"
Ever since learning Catherine studied jewelry design, Samuel had been busy looking at jewelry companies for her.
A medium-sized company would be best - not so big it would stress her out while she was studying, but enough for her to freely express her designs.
"I heard you reorganized the music store and art gallery, and even revised a lot of their policies. Is our Catherine a business genius?"
Marcus got anxious hearing this!
This was his precious granddaughter - how did she become "your" business genius?
"Catherine, I bought you a hotel. If you ever don't feel like staying at home, you can stay at the hotel!"
Catherine felt helpless.
What did she need all these companies for?
The companies she already owned were all managed by people from Galactic Aurora Collective!
Bethany said, "Dad, what are you doing? Catherine's school is right next to our house - just five miles by car. She can just come straight home! Oh, and Catherine, find time to get your driver's license!"
Getting a driver's license was just a matter of convenience - she just hadn't found the time.
When traveling the border regions, you didn't need a license, but you still had to drive those big vehicles!
Catherine nodded in agreement and stood up. "Okay, I'll find time to learn. I'll go to the hospital now to get the divorce papers."
"Come back early for dinner - we'll wait for you!"
Alexander stood beside her, naturally taking her handbag for her.
The elderly people's eyes all showed some relief.
Look at them - what a perfect match!
Tall and handsome Alexander stood upright, his sculptured features deep and cool, his frame easily sheltering Catherine beside him like a small bird. Catherine's waist was slender, her hair flowing. When their eyes met, they were full of tenderness!
As Catherine and Alexander headed out, Marcus looked at Bethany and the other Windsor family juniors.
"Go take care of your own business. We have things to discuss."
Though Marcus was getting on in years with graying temples, his eyes were bright and sharp, radiating authority. His whole presence commanded respect!
When he spoke, Bethany quickly bowed with his sons. "Yes."
Marcus looked at Samuel sitting across from him and picked up the chess set nearby.
"Come on, let's play a game."
Samuel squinted at him for a moment, then broke into a smile.
"Who's afraid? Let's play!"
"If you lose, you have to tell me the truth!"
To seek the truth, you had to pay the price!
"Win first, then we'll talk."
Alexander's car stopped at the entrance of Bright Heal Hospital, and Andrew jogged up to take the keys.
"Boss, Mr. Howard, Lila refuses to sign. I still need to take the report for filing!"
After signing, Marcus had no interest in keeping the report, but it needed to be archived.
That's why Andrew was still waiting here.
Alexander took Catherine's hand and walked toward the hospital. "Did she sign?"
"She signed, but won't give it to me. When I went up to get it, she accused me of harassing her."
Andrew's face looked absolutely terrible!
He was forty years old! And he had a wife and kids!
Even if he didn't, he wouldn't make a move on Lila at Bright Heal Hospital!
But Lila was famously shameless. With those two shouts, everyone on the floor looked over, their eyes showing sympathy and pity for Andrew!
Clearly, they knew Lila's temperament too, and at a time like this, they didn't want to speak up for Andrew, afraid of getting involved themselves.
Catherine looked at Andrew with some sympathy too.
"Thanks for your trouble. Since she signed, she's no longer my grandmother."
Andrew was stunned. "Boss, what do you mean?"
Even if she signed, Lila was still Bethany's mother, and by blood relation, still Catherine's grandmother, right?
Catherine smiled, showing her cute dimples. "I'm not in the family registry yet."
Ever since Oliver and Celeste publicly severed ties with her, she had been independent - the sole owner of Moonlight Mansion at Starry Residence!
Since she wasn't in the family registry yet, what right did Lila have to think she could control her?
Andrew understood, his eyes lighting up, but he was still a bit worried about Catherine's safety. After all, Lila was known for bullying people with her age, and Catherine looked so refined and gentle.
Walking into the hospital room, Lila's eyes lit up when she saw Catherine.
Before she could smile, she saw Alexander following behind Catherine!
Why did Alexander come again? Did he really like Catherine that much?
"I told you to come alone. Are you deaf? Tell Alexander to get out! What a bastard!"
Catherine sat calmly in the chair across from the hospital bed, her long slender legs crossed, eyes slightly raised, chin lifted as she looked down at Lila with a gaze like frost, her presence like a queen!
"Understand human speech? You think you're human? Don't think I have to give you respect just because you're old. We're all being human for the first time - stop pretending, you bitch!"
