Chapter 65 Alexander Can Only Be Single
Gavin came to the hospital early in the morning for rounds and only then learned about Esme's situation. He quickly got dressed and went to the ICU to check on her. Only after seeing she wasn't in serious danger did he feel relieved.
How could a perfectly fine person just jump into the water like that?
And the seawater was freezing cold!
"Mr. Windsor, do you think Esme couldn't handle being disciplined by the school?"
Marcus also knew about Esme's disciplinary action. The school's punishment was completely fair and just, and they had even gone easy on her out of respect for the Windsor family. Otherwise, Esme would have already been expelled.
How did Esme, whom he'd watched grow up, turn out like this?
"Couldn't handle it? What's there not to handle? Forget it! Just keep a close eye on her, and we'll talk when she wakes up!"
Gavin agreed and carefully examined Marcus's health.
He personally handled the health of these leaders and knew Marcus's condition better than anyone. Last month some of the numbers were still unstable, but now everything had improved so much!
"Your health is so good you could be called robust. Compared to before, you've improved tremendously. At this rate, you can go home and recuperate next month."
As Marcus got older, what he loved hearing most was news about his good health!
"Really? Thanks to the medicine Catherine made for me. Discharge would be great - I'm about to smell like disinfectant from staying in this hospital!"
Hearing this news, Marcus jumped out of bed in one motion and proudly kicked open the door to the next room.
With his hands on his hips, he said, "Felix, I'm getting discharged next month! Hahaha! You just stay in the hospital!"
Felix bounced up from his bed and ran to Catherine's side, grabbing her hand and pleading, "Catherine! I want to be discharged too!"
Catherine froze.
Looking at Felix's pitiful big eyes, she swallowed back the "no" that was on the tip of her tongue.
"Alright, take the medicine I give you, get checked every day, exercise more, don't stay up late, don't be picky about food, and you can be discharged next month."
"Great! Catherine, you're the best!"
Felix walked proudly over to Marcus with his cane and even bumped Marcus's shoulder.
"You're not the only one with a granddaughter. Catherine will be my granddaughter too!"
"I won't let Catherine marry into your family. Alexander will just have to stay single!"
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Just watch me!"
Catherine was used to Marcus and Felix constantly getting physical. At their age, they couldn't really fight - at most they'd pull each other's beards and yank out a few strands of already sparse hair.
She looked at Gavin and said softly, "Lila's condition has worsened. Go check on her."
"Okay, I'll send you a test report later. As for here..."
Gavin looked at Catherine with admiration, almost shamelessly asking her on the spot for Marcus's prescription!
"We'll talk about it next time you help me out."
Gavin was excited.
He might actually get a chance to watch Catherine do experiments!
"Okay, okay. I'll go check on Lila first. I'll leave things here to you!"
As soon as he left the room, Gavin skillfully ignored the large crowd gathered outside the door.
The patients here had special status, and gift boxes had to be carted away to the anti-bribery department by the truckload.
Seeing someone finally come out, Celeste perked up, but when she opened her eyes, she just saw a doctor - not the Howard family member they were waiting for!
Celeste looked Gavin over. Though he seemed familiar, she couldn't recognize him with his mask on.
The Smith family members were somewhat disappointed. Alexander was supposed to come to the hospital, but there was still no sign of him!
Oliver complained, "The Howard Group's CEO is so unfilial. It's already this late and he still hasn't come to see his grandfather. He's made us wait all morning!"
Lucas, sitting in his wheelchair, glared at him when no one was looking.
Who did Alexander think he was?
Did he need to inform Oliver in advance when he wanted to come to the hospital?
Oliver thought way too highly of himself!
The Johnson family was here today because basically all of their business had been restricted by Charles. If they could curry favor with the Howard family, even if the Windsor family publicly boycotted them in the industry, it wouldn't matter!
Only the Howard family could save the Johnson family now!
Clara looked at Lucas sitting in his wheelchair and actually felt envious.
She wanted to sit too. She'd been standing for five whole hours in high heels, and now her feet hurt terribly.
"Mom, is Mr. Howard coming today or not?"
"I don't know either. Just wait. Don't you see all these people waiting too!"
But unlike them, these people had clearly prepared in advance. As soon as they arrived, they skillfully pulled newspapers from their pockets and sat right down on the floor!
Just like they were on vacation!
Was this the attitude for asking someone for help? Or was this just how people in Imperia City were now?
And the Bright Heal Hospital staff didn't chase them away. Standing next to them, Celeste felt like her whole image had become low-class.
The hospital room door opened. Marcus, wearing a mask and hat, sat in a wheelchair as Catherine pushed him out.
Seeing Marcus's getup, Catherine wanted to laugh!
Marcus didn't like socializing. Whenever he saw too many people at the door, he'd cover his face to avoid accidentally rolling his eyes at the public.
As soon as she came out, several people sitting by the door immediately got up from the ground, put away their newspapers, and stood at attention, forming a neat line in front of Marcus and Catherine!
"Army 302nd Unit, escorting you!"
The Smith and Johnson family members hadn't yet recovered from the shock of seeing Catherine here when they saw the large group of country folk sitting around them suddenly stand up, radiating military discipline!
These people weren't farmers - they were special forces soldiers called in from the military.
"How many?"
"Fifteen. All under control. Don't worry!"
Marcus nodded and smiled. "A few less than yesterday. Good. Looks like it's time for me to go home. Catherine, did you hear that?"
"Yes, I'll arrange your discharge."
"Let's go see Lila."
After such a big incident this morning, even though Aurora wasn't exactly virtuous, she was still the biological mother of Charles, George, Richard, Philip, and Catherine.
Samuel was Marcus's comrade from their younger days. With Samuel's temper, knowing Aurora had been wronged and the Windsor family wasn't doing anything about it, he'd definitely make a scene.
Catherine pushed the wheelchair forward, completely ignoring the people standing by the roadside.
Seeing how close Catherine was with Marcus, Lucas started scheming.
He didn't know what Charles was thinking, actually having his kept woman take care of his own grandfather. Rich people really knew how to have fun.
Oliver saw Catherine and looked shocked.
"Catherine, what are you doing here? When did you meet Mr. Windsor? Why didn't you tell me!"
He was so excited!
Catherine was probably a caregiver the Windsor family hired for Marcus. If she was willing to put in a good word, the Windsor family would definitely look favorably upon the Smith family and support them!
