Chapter 205 Taking Over the Blade of Dusk
She's interested in the Windsor family!
Emilia didn't expect that after asking a couple more questions about the Windsor family over the past two days and showing some concern for George's work, George would mistakenly think she was very interested in medicine.
Does she look like someone who can understand medical terminology?
Fortunately, a nurse poked her head in and called away the still-chattering George.
"George, there's a patient who needs emergency treatment!"
"Right away."
George quickly disappeared from the hospital room. Emilia immediately tossed aside the research paper he'd given her and took a deep breath!
Beside her was the new phone Catherine had given her. Her old phone had become a piece of scrap metal in the fire.
Emilia had no idea how Catherine managed to completely restore everything from her original phone. If she hadn't confirmed her phone was destroyed, she'd suspect this was her actual phone!
The Windsor family kids really are all geniuses!
Emilia habitually bit her fingernail while looking at the information on her phone, then dialed one of the numbers Catherine had saved.
So thoughtful!
Not only did Catherine restore everything from her phone, she also saved several numbers for her - Catherine's own, Juniper's, and even George's.
"Catherine, can you come with me somewhere?"
"I'll come pick you up."
"Great! I'll wait for you at the hospital entrance!"
Half an hour later, Catherine appeared at the hospital entrance wearing a black motorcycle jacket and riding a motorcycle, looking heroic and spirited.
Catherine took off her helmet and got off the bike, reaching up to brush back her slightly messy hair, her locks flowing in the wind.
Emilia appeared in front of Catherine limping, wearing a coat that was obviously way too big for her.
"You came out without telling George?"
"No! He went to save a patient who tried to commit suicide by cutting their wrists. If he knew I came out, he'd definitely lecture me, but I really wanted to go to Heritage Storage Depot."
Emilia was clearly scared off by George's endless stream of medical instructions!
Catherine raised an eyebrow and glanced at the coat Emilia was wearing. If she remembered correctly, George seemed to have worn this coat the last time he came home.
Catherine didn't ask more questions and looked at Emilia considerately.
"Let's take a cab. Your injuries aren't suitable for riding a motorcycle."
"Okay!"
Heritage Storage Depot.
The bombed-out abandoned warehouse was reduced to just a few dangerously unstable unfinished buildings, with police tape wrapped in several layers.
Emilia held her phone and, following the agreed-upon location, made her way to an underground air-raid shelter.
"Catherine, over here."
Catherine looked at the air-raid shelter before her. Her assassin's instincts told her there were quite a few breathing sounds inside - they should all be Blade of Dusk people.
"I won't go in. I'll wait for you here."
Emilia nodded, crouched down and entered through the entrance, disappearing in front of the air-raid shelter.
Blade of Dusk had split into two parts internally years ago when the previous gang leader suddenly had an accident - those who followed the Hughes family and those who secretly protected Emilia were two separate groups.
The Hughes family's group was either dead or in prison.
In less than ten minutes, Emilia came out from inside, her eyes red-rimmed, holding a box in her hands.
"These are all gold bars my mom left me. I have so much money. Plus the money I hid myself, I can live without working for the rest of my life!"
Emilia's mood was a bit low, her eyes full of conflict and reluctance.
Catherine saw through her thoughts. "You want to take them with you?"
"Yes, they've been taking care of me all along. Without them, I wouldn't have survived in the Hughes family. But I don't know if I can do it."
Emilia couldn't bear to watch Blade of Dusk just disband like this. It contained her mother's life's work.
"If you take them with you, the life you'll live will be different from before."
Emilia blinked, a smile appearing on her face.
"It doesn't matter! What my mom could do, I can do too!"
Emilia hugged the box in her hands and thought for a moment.
"Besides, I don't want to be useless. Thank you for saving me. At first, I approached you to protect myself. But I really do like you!"
"It was that damn Esme coming to find me that made me realize I don't want to be a useless person hiding behind others!"
"Don't worry, Catherine. From now on in Imperia City, Blade of Dusk will be mine!"
Emilia didn't want to be a hothouse flower whose fate was controlled by others. Even when facing George's back as he unhesitatingly stood in front of her to protect her, her heart beat a little faster.
But she wanted to be someone like Catherine even more!
Emilia grabbed Catherine's hand and pressed her gauze-covered face against Catherine's.
"I've figured it all out! Rather than expecting others to shelter me, I'd rather shelter myself! My fate can only be controlled by me."
"From now on in Imperia City, you and Juniper are both women under my protection!"
Catherine's lips curved slightly into a warm smile.
"I'm looking forward to seeing a different Emilia. But you're still very welcome to visit our home - my mom has already prepared new pajamas for you."
"So thoughtful! I'll definitely come!"
Emilia hugged Catherine's neck and called out twice, as if making some kind of decision. She turned and entered the air-raid shelter again.
This time, Emilia didn't come back out.
Catherine stood on the ruins of Heritage Storage Depot, overlooking the bombed-out unfinished buildings. In the distance, police were still searching and investigating the area.
Dubhe emerged from a clump of grass and came up to Catherine.
"Boss, I checked these people out. They're loyal enough, but it'll still be difficult for Emilia to control them."
After all, Blade of Dusk was part of the underworld. For Emilia to completely control Blade of Dusk would require a lot of effort.
"Look after her more, don't let anything happen to her."
"Already arranged. There's one of our underground fight clubs nearby that has some connection with Blade of Dusk. Emilia's probably going to have a tough time from now on!"
"It's okay, it won't be too tough."
If hardship leads to sweetness, then it's worth it.
With Emilia's personality, taking control of Blade of Dusk won't be easy, but Catherine will help make it easier for her!
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
George came out of the operating room after finishing an emergency surgery, turned and walked into the private room, but didn't see the patient who should have been lying there!
Where is she?
George was just about to call someone to find her when Catherine's call came in.
After hearing Catherine explain the whole story, George's eyebrows were twitching!
He practically ground out his reply through clenched teeth: "I got it!"
He'd never seen such a disobedient patient!
Inexplicable anger surged from George's chest, and the sudden fury made him feel momentarily dizzy.
George changed his clothes and strode out of the emergency room.
Several doctors saw him rushing and exclaimed in shock: "George, where are you going? You haven't rested for over twenty hours. You should rest first!"
"To find a disobedient patient and ask her if she doesn't want to live anymore!"
The border.
A blood-stained tactical boot stepped on the face of someone about to die. A sharp blade lifted open their trachea. The person had an ice-cold presence, murderous intent radiating from them, their gaze alone enough to kill!
Ethan, sitting across from them, watched this scene, raised his eyelids, and looked at the young man opposite him.
He was dusty from travel, with some bloodshot in his eyes, staring coldly at Ethan.
Ethan smiled, sat up straight, and met his gaze.
"Nightfall, you're finally here! I've been waiting for you for a long time!"
