Chapter 42 Chapter 42
Edina shepherd's POV.
Standing frozen at the fact that Bella wood, the new Luna of the midnight pack just answered a question I asked myself in thought, stunned me. I readjusted the pink scarf hanging loosely on my shoulders with a confused mug while katana my assistant stood still waiting for my next order, unknowingly not knowing what was going on in my mind.
"Katana, did you see that?" I was dazed, mind blown at how that little timid girl answered a question I thought in my mind. Was she a mind reader?
No, if she was one, I could have seen it with my metaphysical eyes during my incantation in the early hours of the morning… but what was that unique unknown aura I was picking up from her? I wondered because, in all my hundred-plus years, I had never encountered an aura like hers.
Powerful yet reserved...
Dominating but because of her omega status, she could not fully access it, and that's why she was still timid, but what is it? I narrowed my eyes at her while she quickly walked away from my sight.
"See what mistress?" Katana's voice brought me out of the mini trance I was in thinking about this new woman my grandson had decided to make his Luna, even though I was against it and said it in front of their faces.
I was one person who never lied about how I felt about any given person I encountered during my lifetime…and I was not going to change because of little miss Bella wood, the new Luna of the midnight pack. I sighed heavily while I thought about what next move I should take.
"That Bella girl, just heard what I was thinking in my mind and unknowingly answered my question." I turned my attention back to katana standing beside me dressed in an all-black attire from head to toe. I had always told her to pick less witchy clothing so that no one could easily guess that she was a witch unlike me who wore clothing fit for a queen at all times.
Katana's eyes widened like what I said was making sense to her somehow.
"Yes mistress, you are right. She responded to something you did not speak of… but how?"
"I do not know how she did it, but her pure dominating powerful aura needs to be investigated…because I think she also doesn't know what hidden powers she possesses. I need to find out what it is before she does, but how do I find out who she really is?"
Seconds later, a light bulb went on in my head as a new idea popped up…
"Katana, pack our bags. We need to pay a visit to the almighty all-knowing oracle. He will tell me everything I need to know about her."
Bella's unknown powers sent a cold shiver down my spine because even with my strengths I could not seem to put my finger around what it was. Was it good or bad? That I needed to find out.
"Are you sure you want to undertake such a tedious journey?" She gave me an inquisitive stare, which she knew the answer to.
I never liked to repeat myself when I gave out orders hence I gave her a cold emotionless stare that spoke a thousand words telepathically.
Upon noticing my unpleasant sight… Katana hoods her eyes to evade my stare. "Then let me go and arrange for our immediate travels," Katana responded then quickly walked away.
I watched her disappear down the hallway lost in thought to what lay in the future of my grandson. was he safe or in danger around this strange woman?
And the only being to answer such a question was to seek an audience with an oracle whose secret hideout location was a million miles away from Romania.
suddenly, a bird flew past me with a loud chirping sound, this stuttered me as my heartbeat increased...
stupid bird, who even allowed them to fly freely in the mansion, I glanced around that's when I caught a glimpse of a huge wide open window. it must have flown through there, if it was back home, I would have trapped it and killed it, using its pure blood for a purification ceremony. I chuckled evilly. Now to see my grandson before heading out for this long journey… maybe I can convince him otherwise about this Bella girl.
With hesitant steps, I walked into Jacob's bedroom and the boy was shirtless, and he looked unbothered about my presence.
"Good morning Nana?" He stood next to a small wooden table with a glass of whiskey sitting on it. He had a grin so wide it looked like he was satisfied with something.
"Don't you own any shirt in your wardrobe?" I asked because his nerve to entertain that Bella girl half-naked in his room was worrisome. The insolence… I hoped he does not get her pregnant before I found out what I needed to know about her.
"I do, I just don't have one on because I have just returned from my morning hunt." He answered back with a naughty smirk on his face. He got the whiskey cup off the table and gulped down one sip.
"I see, I want to talk with you before I leave"
"What, why so soon?" He looked at me with an inquisitive stare.
"Because I need to visit an old friend of mine who will tell me the truth about your new Luna. I don't like her period." I declared without care for his emotions towards her.
Jacob rolled his eyes before turning back his attention to the cup of whiskey he was holding in his hands and gulped down the rest of the cup's content "Oh Nana, there you go again. Bella is a good girl and will be a great Luna to the pack." He sighed softly and then put down the empty whiskey cup.
"No, my boy, she is not good enough for you like that Avery girl. She will be the downfall of you."
Jacob immediately darted a serious face at me. "Nana, I will not stand here for you to insult my Avery and Bella. Let Avery's soul rest in peace and allow Bella in your heart so that you can see the goodness in her." He walked closer to me and grazed his hand on my cheek.
Never did I allow anyone to touch me, only Jacob was my only exception, but even him, I never enjoyed his touch…I don't know why but maybe it was a witchress thing.
"Jacob, I want only what's best for you. Marry the girl of my choice and all your problems will disappear."
"Nana, I won't be mated to a witch. Let this be the last time I'm going to tell you this. Accept Bella or don't ever come back."
What? This boy is choosing that bitch over me? Let's see if he will want to be with her after I find out what or who she really is.
"Fine, I will go and not say anything bad about your pure kind-hearted Bella…but just know that I will be back with proof that she is no good for you." I quickly veered around to get out of his room, then from nowhere, Jacob's warm embrace took me by surprise as he locked his arms from behind me.
"I love you Nana… but don't make it harder for me to do so. Give Bella a chance and she will prove you wrong," he said in a soft voice.
With my spirit adamant about finding out the whole truth, I was not going to back off because of the few sweet words he said to me.
"ok, I will think about it," I said to get him to unlock his arms across my shoulders.
I could hear him huffing and puffing slowly in my ear, but his sweet words meant nothing to me unless he accepted to marry a witch.
"I love you too Jacob. But I need to go now." I forcibly unlocked his embrace and walked away from him, determined to find out Bella's true identity for the sake of his safety and the continuation of my lineage.
