Bella's POV.
"Grandma." Alpha Jacob suddenly sprinted towards the old woman with a bright smile on his face.
Grandma??? I did not see this coming.
I did not know that his grandmother was still alive and well. I swallowed hard and followed him to welcome his so-called grandma…besides, I needed to get in good books with all his close family members, therefore she was the best person to start with.
'Grandma' as Jacob called her, wore a baby blue knee-length prim and proper dress with what looked like a black fur coat of a fox hanging loosely on her shoulders. The clothes she wore, were fit for a queen if you asked me.
"Hey, my sweetheart." The stretched out her hands to Jacob's face and pinched his cheeks as if he was a pup.
Her horse voice sent an eerie feeling to my core…I got closer to her and my goodness, this woman's appearance could speak volumes to anyone…
Her face was haggard, beyond recognition. Her skin wrinkled beyond recognition. Her eyes were like a cat's, cunning and shrewd, they glowed fiercely, they flashed with the cruelty that I did not wish to encounter, and her well-styled groomed Snow White hair, hang loosely on her fur coat.
Oh my, my eyes widened with fear, while my heart thumped wildly. Where did she come from?
And how can she do such a thing to a feared Alpha in front of his people?
I guessed the saying is true, on how any child never grows up in the eyes of his elder family members. I let out a fake tight-lipped smile, not forgetting that the same old woman disrupted my ceremony by objecting to the union.
What is she thinking? I exhaled silently.
"Nana, I did not know that you were coming to the pack?" Alpha Jacob answered back to his grandma.
Oh wow, shit just got real quick. Did Alpha Jacob just call the old woman Nana? I chuckled quietly while evading their sight.
This seemed like a wholesome relationship to me.
Well, Nana's nose was bulbous, lips, thin and bloodless. Her legs were spindly while her back was slightly bent at an angle. If you asked me her age, she looked like a hundred years old or more.
I sensed something extraordinary about her wolf because she was not like the rest of her pack members and I just could not put my finger around it.
"I wanted to surprise you, but clearly, I'm the one who is surprised. What is going on here?" She menacingly grinned while glancing around the quiet people, who were now chatting indistinctly.
"We are having a blood bond initiation ceremony for my second chance mate Bella wood of the moonstone pack." Alpha Jacob spoke rapidly then veered around to face me.
Oh no, please don't put me in the spotlight, I tensed with a fake tight-lipped crimson smile…and everyone turned their inquisitive stare to me.
"I can see that." The woman's cold gaze sent a cold shiver down my spine whilst she walked closer to me with unblinking focused eye contact.
"What's your name little girl?" the woman pulled a face and walked in circles around me, as she examined every part of my body.
I swallowed hard, paralyzed with fear, as I could not comprehend what her big deal was with me. Alpha Jacob just mentioned my name to her and she asked me for the same.
I sensed resentment from this old hag and if wanted to play this game, she was going to play it alone, because I was going to return her rudeness with kindness. I smirked triumphantly.
"My name is Bella Wood, the new Luna of the midnight pack." I reached out for her hand to handshake her but she did not want to touch mine.
"Edina shepherd." Her cold words turned my legs to jelly.
She flickered her tongue merrily like she was tasting my fear.
Oh moon goddess, not again! please save me from this woman.
Edina circled me with a harsh inquisitive stare. "Your aura? There is something about it" she sniffed me while standing behind me, which resulted in me freezing in panic.
Please don't say anything about my omega status. I cringed my eyes and nose shut hoping she would not say the dreadful words.
"You are an omega." Edina hissed out loud then walked in front of me.
I bowed my head after hearing her discriminatory words.
"Nana!" Jacob snapped as though he wanted to save me from his grandma's rudeness.
I sighed a sigh of relief.
"She was an Omega, but now is the Luna of the midnight pack." Alpha Jacob added.
Phew, at least he added that I was now luna of the pack. His statement boosted my enthusiasm slightly.
"Umm…I don't like her." Edina declared and gracefully walked into the mansion, without saying anything else.
Ohh my…I heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, the rude hag has left.
Suddenly, Jacob walked to me and clasped my arms. " Don't worry, she will loosen up as she did with Aver…" he tensed with a sad faraway look on his face and then faked cleared his throat. " "Ahem, give her time, Nana will like you." He declared and gently tugged me towards the dance floor installed in the center of the garden.
"Would you like to dance?" Alpha Jacob asked with a soft adoring gaze.
Soft jazzy tunes echoed all around us.
Finally, I thought he would never ask. I smiled, but it soon faded away as Beta Olivia hurriedly walked over to us and whispered something in Alpha Jacob's ears before hastily walking away… without even acknowledging my presence.
The insolence in this Beta Olivia!!! I sneered. I will need to fix her attitude toward me.
"I'm sorry, Bella, but I need to attend to another important matter. I will be right back." He leaned in and grazed his lips on my cheek and hurriedly disappeared into the crowd of people.
Where are they going?
I sighed softly with crimson cheeks and looked around the garden aimlessly wondering what to do next.
Suddenly, one of the waitpersons came to me with a tray in one hand, steadily holding up a glass of red wine placed on it.
"Excuse me, lady Bella. Alpha Jacob has sent me to give you this drink." He said while handing me the glass of red wine.
"Thank you." I grabbed the glass gladly.
Besides, what else was I to do? I did not know anyone to create small talk with.
Positioning the glass onto my lips, I tilted it and its content plunged down to my throat.
Ummh, this tastes weird. I pulled a face while glancing at the glass and seconds later, my vision became blurry and immediately passed out.
And that was the last sensible memory I had before waking up in Alpha Jacob's bed naked.
What happened to me?
