Chapter 32 Chapter 32.
Alpha Jacob's POV.
But who would want to hurt Bella? She is new to the pack and I know for a fact that she is too sweet to create an enemy in such a short time. My thoughts lingered while trying to explain what happened to her last night.
"Alpha, do you know who pushed me?" Bella raised a question with a pale face.
"No, but I will find out who did it." I leaned in desiring to kiss her but instead, I tensed and pushed back tiny bits of her hair hanging loosely in front of her face at the back of her ear.
I'm sorry Avery, but her pink plump succulent lips are becoming too irresistible for me.
Bella, my second chance mate, had no idea why I held back from marking her as the Luna of the pack, but at least I can initiate her by the blood bond ceremony into the pack tonight at midnight.
Unexpectedly, her stomach growled out loud and she wrapped her arms around herself with crimson cheeks.
"Have you eaten anything yet?"
"No Alpha. I just woke up and met Beta Samantha who is very chatty and said something about your former mate Avery."
Avery??? I quickly jerked off the bed because I did not want to answer any questions about my former mate…
How dare Samantha talk about Avery to Bella??? when she openly despised Avery, even hating on her innocent soul after her passing into her afterlife.
Samantha definitely had her own share of personal problems, but that was non of my business… she needed to keep to her lane or else I would be forced to take drastic measures to keep her away from Bella.
I wonder what Samantha and her big mouth said to Bella anywhere? Should I ask her or just forget it? I avoided Bella's inquisitive stare.
Then from nowhere, Bella struggled to get up on the bed while holding onto the bed sheet wrapped around her breasts... she knelt on the bed, stretched out her hand to my hair, and pulled something.
"Where do you like going to where you collect things like this?" She showed me the dry twig she pulled out from my scruffy hair with a giggle.
Looking at the piece of stick, my stomach flipped with embarrassment because here I was before my second chance mate looking all dirty and unrepresentable, not that it mattered to me…but I felt I needed to impress lady Bella in one way or another, and my showing up dirty, was not impressive while she giggled out loud indicating she was not impressed by my appearance.
Stepping backward, with my chest sticking out, I tried not to show my true emotions.
"you said you had not eaten anything yet?" I asked to try and distract her from the twig incident, I scratched my hair thinking that maybe I had more twigs in my skull and she would spot them.
"Not yet Alpha," she answered back with hooded eyes.
"Umh, let me quickly grab you a plate of food. I will be right back." I hurriedly sauntered out of her room, because I intended to go take a quick shower and return with a plate of food for her.
"But don't you have servants to do such things for you?" Her voice echoed in the hallway.
"I will be back shortly"
Then as I walked in the hallway to my bedroom, Beta Olivia's voice projected out loud.
"Alpha, can I have a word with you?" Her footsteps hurriedly thudded heavily on the floor.
I veered around and gave attention to whatever she had to say.
"Yes, Olivia. Please make this quick because I have other things to attend to."
"It's about the intruder at the pond last night." She declared with heavy breathing.
"And what about the intruder?" I stepped closer to her and snatched her arms tightly with unblinking focused eye contact.
"What did you find out?" I spoke with gritting teeth.
I eagerly wanted to know who and why someone might want to harm my Bella.
"From the information I have gathered, the intruder is a rogue from the dark forest." She answered back with widened eyes.
"These stupid Rogues." I let Olivia's arms go after realizing that it was just bad timing for Bella to stray at the pond and the rogue was probably trying to scare her by pushing her into the water.
But why would the rogue poison the water? My thoughts lingered momentarily before another's voice projected out loud disrupting my thoughts
"Good morning Alpha?" Gamma Nick walked closer to us in one of his stylish suits.
"Good morning Nick," I answered back. " You are just the right person I wanted to see."
"Alpha, I will be taking my leave now." Beta Olivia snarled and bobbed her head to gamma Nick while walking away.
"Yes, Alpha. How may I be of help?" nick answered.
"I want to have the blood bond initiation ceremony for lady Bella tonight. Tell the chef to cook up a feast because this will be a public ceremony to introduce her to the pack as the new Luna. I'm sure everyone wants to meet my new Luna."
Gamma Nick smiled. "It's about time. Will you be needing anything else?"
I looked up to space for a few seconds thinking of what I could give her as a welcome gift after the ceremony was done.
"Get me a big bouquet of flowers. Yes, I will gift them to her after the ceremony is done."
For the first time in a long time, I wanted to do something special for her because I knew for a fact that the goddess spared her life for me. A small tight-lipped smile radiated on my face.
"Alpha, do you have any specific type of flowers I should get?"
"Get lilly…" I stopped myself after realizing I mentioned Avery's favourite flowers instead. "No, don't get Lillie's. Just get a bunch of assorted flowers since I don't know her favourite flowers yet." My heart ached because in as much as I was mated to a second mate, I felt like I betrayed Avery's trust even in death.
How was I to overcome this bad feeling of guilt every time I wanted to show my affection for Bella?
"I'm on it Alpha." Nick slightly bowed his head and hurriedly walked away from my sight.
I heaved a sigh, before heading to my bedroom to take a shower.
My first love story was very tragic because I lost the first love of my life and now the goddess had given me a second mate to make up with in this lifetime. The goddess was good because she knew how lonely I became after Avery's premature death, hence he sent Bella wood to fill in the gap Avery left in my life.
What was left was for me to do, is to let go of Avery's memories and move on. Besides, she would have done the same too, if I died first. My thoughts lingered while taking a shower.
