Belle's POV.
"Thank you, Beta Wood." He answered with a slight grin on his face while he fixed his gaze on me the whole time.
I swallowed hard with crimson cheeks and looked down at the floor to avoid his mischievous smirk.
Why is he looking at me like I was fresh meat he wanted to devour without leaving any leftovers?
"Please take a seat," Pa led him to his favorite chair in the living room and he sat down with his amazing firm sculpted six-pack. Pa had given him a shirt but I guessed it was too small for him to fit in, which is why he walked out shirtless.
Oh, did I mention to you that everything about Alpha Jacob was ten times better than Alpha Zach? I secretly peeked at Jacob who still had his gaze fixed on me and I bit my bottom lips... His stare made me nervous in a good way and I didn't know why.
He didn't accept me nor reject me? Hence I wondered what he was thinking about our mate bond.
"Good evening, Beta Diana, thank you for welcoming me into your lovely home." He said with his gaze still fixed on me and that sent happy butterflies into my gut.
Maybe he wanted to accept me as his mate in front of pa and his wife. A splitting grin emitted on my face and I noticed Diana just nodding her head to his greeting and shifting her evil ungrateful gaze on me.
please, moon goddess, save me this one last time. I cringed my eyes shut while facing the floor.
"You are most welcome to our humble home and thank you for saving my daughter from the Rogues in the dark forest. I have always told this girl to stay away from there, but she doesn't listen to me" Pa said as though he cared.
I sneered then rolled my eyes at his fake sympathy…he should have followed me when he saw me running into the forest. What a parent! I darted back at my charming prince and his stare was becoming too intense for me to handle, hence I withdraw my gaze.
Alpha Jacob chuckled slightly while shaking his head in amusement.
He was a totally different person with Pa around him as he had let his guard down and relaxed his posture. "You are welcome Beta wood... Can I have a word with you privately?" He raised a question in a deep sexy take-me, home daddy kinda voice.
I let out a naughty smirk on my face which quickly disappeared after pa requested me and Diana to excuse ourselves from the room.
Excuse you??? to talk about what??? I furrowed my brows at Pa. Like seriously you are telling us to leave you with a stranger who doesn't want to admit that he is my mate…
While Beta Diana gave my father a what the fuck look…
I chuckled quietly without being spotted, as I jerked up from the chair and sauntered to the kitchen while Diana hesitantly followed suit behind. I could tell she was still angry and wanted to be part of pa and Alpha Jacob's discussion...
We got to the kitchen and pa walked over to the door and shuts it in Diana's face for privacy I could not hold myself back from his actions as I blurted out in laughter…for the first time, I felt the courage to laugh at Diana's mishaps. She veered around with a red hot face with flared nostrils and walked up to me, clasped my wrist, and yanked me closer to her.
"Now listen to me, silly girl, I don't know why you brought back Alpha Jacob to our house but just know that he will leave you alone and I will deal with your chicky ass. Do you understand me?" She squeezed my wrist tightly so that my blood circulation ceased to get to the rest of my hand.
My lips let out a painful moan as I whimpered with color draining from my face while my lips trembled with fear... the pain of her grip got to my core and I could no longer hide my emotions as I immediately bowed my head in submission once again as I did like a whiny skittish pup. Diana was a ruthless cruel stepmother who was very intimidating for a small wolf like me.
A few seconds later, she roughly let go of my wrist when she noticed my hand turning blue-black.
"Wait until, our visitor leaves, I will deal with you." She let out an evil smirk on her face and grabbed the clear glass cup from the grey marble-tiled kitchen counter and tiptoed to the door and positioned the glass against the door and placed her ear on it, to try to get what pa and Alpha Jacob were discussing.
Most homes in our village were built soundproof so as to avoid other wolves eavesdropping on each other because it was a well-known factor that wolves have got super Sonic hearing.
As soon as she let go of me I stumbled backward and stopped in the corner of the room as my mind immediately began to flood itself with doubts.
What if Alpha Jacob rejected me?
What punishment is Diana thinking of giving me for something I did not do?
How does my life continue after the second rejection?
I will be the laughingstock of the people in the village… Oh mother, why did you have to leave me alone in this awful home?
I sighed heavily, paralyzed with fear as I could not move out of the corner, then suddenly the sound of a glass cup shattering against the tiled floor startled me out of my trance.
"Shit…come clean this up" Diana had broken her glass cup, and she sauntered away from the mess with her hands on her hips. I could tell she was super mad at her husband because he did not let her sit in his discussion with Alpha Jacob.
Grabbing a broom and dustpan I hesitantly stepped closer to the mess she created and looked at the mess for a few seconds, then from nowhere, she shoved me straight to the broken pieces of the glasses earning me a great big sloppy fall with me landing on my knees and palms, then the door to the kitchen flared open with Pa's shoes in my face and Alpha Jacob's feet behind him.
"Aww!" I looked up with tears in my eyes. I raised my bloody hands away from the floor and glanced at them.
"What going on in here?" Alpha Jacob inquired with a deep voice.
