Chapter 19 Ronan's POV
I had so much paperwork to do. A council meeting was coming up, and I still hadn't gotten Sienna to join my pack.
I had to do it before the meeting. I knew those old greedy fucks.
They’ve been trying to bring me down, and me having a packless new wolf in my territory would be what they needed.
I knew that fuck would bring it up. Even though I’d told him she was a mutt and a half-breed, he’d still bring her up. He'd bring it up as a joke. He hates my guts and will take any opportunity he gets to bring me down. I know that for sure and this weakness of mine would be a perfect opportunity.
They'd find it funny seeing the all powerful alpha struggle to getting a non shifter to join his pack Not to mention my inability to get her to join would pique their interest, they'd probably try to get her to join their packs just to rubnit in my face. and once their interest was piqued, it was only a matter of time before they found out who and what she was.
I needed her under my protection so they would be unable to do anything about it, and things weren’t going well.
I’d sent Lucien to go look after her; the dumb fuck was out there being stupid and not realizing the importance of her joining our pack.
I sent him back after the stunt he pulled last night to try to fix it.
I just hoped he did something. For someone with a crush he seemed to be awfully stupid about courting her. I didn't want to have to resort to using force but I might have to if I don't find a way to get her to join.
Speaking of the devil....
“What’s wrong?” I asked as Lucien walked into my office, panting.
“I thought I asked you to watch her for the whole day. You haven’t been doing your job well. Getting drunk and then coming home drunk.” I looked up, and he looked very pissed.
“Do you want me to repeat myself?” I asked, and he shook his head.
“There’s a man in her house,” he splurted, and I dropped my pen and looked up.
So she was already finding a man to hook up with?
Now I knew she wasn’t attracted to me, and I was busy thinking of her while jerking off.
Well at least it wasn’t Lucien. I didn’t like the idea of Lucien smelling like her and me having to watch him have sex with a woman I wanted.
It was better now that I knew it was someone neutral. I didn’t have to worry about who they were.
“He’s feral,” Lucien said, and I froze in my seat.
“What?” I asked, and he repeated himself.
“I think he’s feral,” he repeated, and I shot from my seat.
What did she think she was doing?
Did she know he was feral?
Why would she let someone into her house?
What was she thinking?
“He stayed overnight at her place, didn’t he?” I asked, seething as I turned to Lucien.
“Yes, but I didn’t, ” I glared at him, shutting him up at once.
“This was all your fault. I ask you to watch someone and you go off, get drunk with them, and then leave her vulnerable,” I cursed at him as I picked up my car keys and stormed off to my car.
It was already evening.
If he was there with her all night long, I couldn’t help but wonder what the hell he’d done to her.
“Why did you leave her side?” I asked him, even more angry.
“You could have called me and informed me about the situation while watching over her. You put her life at risk twice already in the past few hours. If anything happens to her, you will pay the price,” I threatened him angrily and got into my car, driving off as fast as I could.
I let her be. I don’t do anything to her, yet somehow she doesn’t seem to care. It’s like she wants me to capture her and lock her up before she realizes just how much danger she is in.
I know it’s stupid leaving her be. It’s even more stupid letting her be alone at any second of the day.
She was a magnet for danger.
She somehow always wants to fucking kill herself.
I was pissed with Lucien.
I handed her over to him on a platter, and he couldn't even protect her.
I was taking her back.
It was my fault for thinking he would do anything wise.
At least now he was driving right behind me and hadn’t stayed behind.
I pulled up to her apartment building, and a truck was parked in the way, blocking me from parking right in front of the building, so I had to park farther away.
I got out of the car and made my way into the building.
I got to her floor, and her scent hit me, followed by a strange scent.
It was a wolf.
He was packless.
I couldn’t feel a pack bond on him, but somehow he was grounded. A packless wolf should be unable to be stable and controlled.
Yet he wasn’t feral.
He was able to control his wolf on his own without needing a pack.
I’ve heard of them, but I’d never seen one in my life.
A lone wolf.
They were rare.
They were also dangerously strong.
I walked to the door and knocked on it, trying to keep myself calm as the sound of laughter filled her apartment.
She was laughing with him.
Why was she laughing with him?
They’d only met last night. What was he doing in her apartment?
The door opened, and a man stood in front of me.
“Took you long enough,” he smiled, and before I could even realize what I was doing, I punched him.
