Chapter 24 Chapter 24 Xibalba
Chapter 24 Chapter 24 Xibalba
Kira stood before the gates, demanding entrance..her power swirling around her.
Camazotz appeared before her, “Why do you summon me?” he seemed annoyed.
“Your grandson King Rryan needs you. The old hag has done something..” but before she could finish, he vanished.
The old hags watched the chaos through the veil; her smile grew as the life of the kings slowly diminished. They were dying, she grinned, not knowing that Camazotz stood behind her, his face becoming distorted with anger. Shade backed out of the lair; he knew she would not survive what was coming.
My throat tightened. I swallowed hard. His words were hard to hear. My vision was becoming distorted; I shook it off.
“The collapse hit fast. Too fast. The ceiling came down between us. I couldn’t reach them.”
Silence pressed in after his words. I leaned in.
“Did you see where they went?” I asked in hushed tones.
He shook his head. “No. The tunnel split when it collapsed. Whatever caused it—it wasn’t natural. The mountain moved like it was being pushed.” His eyes were wide like he had seen things that never should have been seen.
Kira hadn't finished sealing the worst of his injuries. I paused her.
“He needs to be moved. Carefully.” I instructed.
They lifted him, stone scraping as he was pulled free. I turned to my warriors, giving them my signal to move.
We made our way through the damaged tunnel, and I felt it again—that same pressure I’d felt before the collapse. Not rogue vampyrs.
Something deeper.
Something still there.
And wherever Rryan and King Danyel were, they were trapped with it.
I had to get to them before… I stopped myself from thinking the worst. My powers would manifest it. I learned this the hard way.
Shade vanished in thin air with a swirl of dark energy, like she had taught him to do. He could hear her high-pitched screams even from the valley he appeared in. He hovered just outside the cave, listening. It was his first time in the land above ground. He liked the feel; the evil that surrounded him pleased him in so many ways.
He started to enter the caves, but he heard others approaching. He slithered back to a safe distance.
The Southern Kingdom had heard the battles; they felt the ground shake. Their King had gathered his own warriors; they had come to help.
Leading the way was K'awiil, his eyes searched for the Queen of King Rryan. He was in his god form, his legs were bodies of Anacondas, his eyes larger than a man's, and as black as coal. He slithered forward, not noticing Shade watching from the shadows.
He knew not to let himself be seen. K'awii was not one you wanted to anger, and he seemed already angry. The old Hag had stirred a hornet's nest of Demi-god Vampyrs with deep connections to the dark realm. This time, she had gone too far.
Niklaus watched from the top of the pyramid. Aurora landed next to him, her eyes scanning the kingdom.
It's up to us to keep our Kingdom safe now, Niklaus whispered in her mind.
They watched women and elders peeking out of their homes. Everyone was on edge; the King had never, NOT come back home.
King Rryan was feared throughout the land. No one dared to anger him. Whatever was happening was not just kingdom squabbles.
They sat there, watching, guarding. They had been trained for this since they were toddlers. Never thinking they would ever actually need to stand guard alone.
They watched Lydia rush outside the pyramid, yelling and waving her hands, in her ungathered robe.
Aurora couldn’t help but giggle, She looks like a saloon whore that's been cheated out of her wages.
Niklaus burst into laughter; he couldn’t help it. The sight was hilarious.
Shhh Aurora warned with a snicker. They both smiled, watching quietly. These two were in rare form; they soaked in the power…
Both were too young to be standing guard. They sat on top of the pyramid like gargoyles, on an old building up north. Except they were much more deadly, young Vampyrs were stronger, faster, they also had venom that froze their victims, it kept them from victorious fights, which would end badly. Their judgment was not with wisdom but youthful whims..
