Chapter 72

Chapter 72
Emilia lay in bed, her eyes fixed on the dark ceiling. The house was quiet, the only sound the soft breathing of her son, Aerius, sleeping beside her.

Kith's words kept echoing in her mind, "Take care of Aerius." What did he mean? And what did he plan for the children? She tried to push the thoughts aside, telling herself she was just being paranoid, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease.

As she lay there, she heard a faint creaking sound coming from the hallway. It was soft at first, but it grew louder, and Emilia's heart began to beat faster. She tried to tell herself it was just the old house settling, but she knew better. Someone was moving around the house, someone who didn't want to be seen.

Emilia's instincts screamed at her to protect her child. She gently got out of bed and crept over to the door, pressing her ear against it to listen. The creaking sound had stopped, and an oppressive silence had fallen over the house.

She waited for what felt like an eternity, her heart pounding in her chest. And then, she heard it again - a soft whispering sound, barely audible, but unmistakable. It was coming from outside her room, and it sounded like someone was trying to communicate with someone else.

She slowly opened the door and peered out into the hallway. The moonlight cast shadows on the walls, and the whispering sound seemed to be coming from the end of the hall.

As she pulled the door shut behind her, she heard a whisper. Her hands glowed bright. She was ready to use her powers if need be.

Emilia's heart raced, her hands were apart, still glowing. She leaned against the door, trying to catch her breath.

As she turned to go back into her room, she noticed something that made her blood run cold. On the wall opposite her door, there was a symbol etched into the stone. It was an ancient symbol, one that Emilia had never seen before.

The symbol had a dark energy, and Emilia knew that someone under their roof might be involved in something sinister. She didn't know what, the symbol meant but she knew she had to uncover the truth.

With a newfound determination, Emilia pushed open the door and stepped back into her room. Aerius was still sleeping peacefully, oblivious to the danger that lurked outside. Emilia's heart swelled with love and protectiveness as she gazed at her child. She would do whatever it took to keep him safe.

Just then, a loud noise coming from the window broke the silence. Emilia sat up with a jolt, her heart racing. The window was open, and a figure was climbing in.

She grabbed Aerius by reflex and held him close, ready to defend him against the intruder. But as the figure stepped into the moonlight, Emilia's eyes widened in shock. It was Calista, her eyes were wild and her hair disheveled.

"Calista, what's wrong?" Emilia asked, trying to keep her voice low.

Calista's eyes darted around the room, as if she was searching for something. "I had to warn you," she whispered. "Kith is not what he seems. I've been investigating him, and I think he's a threat to our children."

Emilia's grip on Aerius tightened. "What have you found out?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Calista's eyes locked onto hers. "I've seen things, hidden away in the archives. Kith has been searching for something, something connected to the children's bloodline and their destiny. Their names- Aerius and Terra. It's not just symbolic names, Emilia. It's a prophecy."

Emilia's mind reeled as she processed the information. A prophecy? What did it mean?
