Chapter 199 The reincarnation

Chapter 199 The reincarnation
Chapter 199

RAVENNA

I burst out into a fit of laughter, the sound harsh and broken even to my own ears.

"You're joking, right?"

Richard shook his head slowly, his expression deadly serious. "I'm not sure about what I just said. But nothing like that has happened in a thousand years. Maybe more. No ordinary wolf could cause that kind of explosion unless she's drawing her power from somewhere else."

He paused, his eyes narrowing as he studied me like I was some kind of dangerous specimen. "It's like they're a wolf but of a different breed. Something between a wolf and a witch. Because they can do what ordinary wolves do, but also… more."

I stared at him, my mind racing.

And then I remembered.

Torren.

The warnings. The potions. The way he'd looked at me when I told him about the visions.

I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth.

I turned to Darius. "Can I borrow your bike?"

Darius frowned. "Where are you going?"

Martina stepped forward immediately, her hand reaching for mine, her expression full of concern. "Where are you off to? You just survived being killed."

I pulled my hand back gently. "I need to see my father. I need to know he's fine."

Darius pulled out his phone. "You can call him."

I glared at him. "I want to go home. And if you don't want to lend me your bike, I'll walk there. Even if it takes me forever."

Darius's expression softened immediately. "That's not it. I'm scared you'll get attacked again. I'm scared I'm going to lose you."

I looked at him, my chest aching at the fear in his eyes.

"I'll come with you," he said firmly.

I shook my head. "Stay here and fix this mess with your father."

Sam and Dorian appeared suddenly, rubbing their heads and looking dazed.

Sam's eyes widened the moment she saw me, and she rushed forward, throwing her arms around me. "Where the hell have you been?"

Dorian turned to Darius. "We got cornered by your father's men. They drugged us."

I pulled back from Sam and looked at her carefully. "Are you fine?"

"Barely," she replied, her voice shaking.

I turned to Darius. "Sam will come with me. Hurry."

Darius grumbled under his breath. "You're just girls—"

I cut him off with a glare.

He sighed and pulled out his keys, handing them to me. "The red bike."

"Thank you," I said quickly, grabbing Sam's hand.

We ran out.

We put on the helmets, started the bike, and I drove us out of the compound as fast as I could.

We arrived at my father's house minutes later, my heart pounding the entire way.

As I stepped inside, I saw Torren, Theo, my father, and four old men I recognized as the pack elders.

Torren rushed to me immediately, his hands gripping my shoulders. "Are you fine? We've been trying your number for an hour. No response. We were about to send Theo and some of the men to search for you."

I shook my head. "I'm not fine."

I paused, my throat tight. "Did you feel that wave? That power?"

My father nodded, his expression grave. "Yes. We were terrified it had hurt you. Part of the house collapsed. Two of the guards were injured."

I sighed heavily and looked at Torren. "It was me."

His eyes widened in shock, and he covered his mouth with his hand.

Then he sat down heavily on a chair, his entire body shaking.

I turned to my father. "I was the cause of the wave. Some people tried to murder me. Caleb and Selina were among them."

I took a breath, forcing myself to continue. "I was in my wolf form, running through the woods, trying to escape. I killed two wolves, but I didn't see the third one. I got captured. Caleb forced me to shift, but Moonlight wouldn't let me. She kept saying something about not being ready yet."

I blinked, suddenly aware I wasn't alone with just my father and Torren.

I looked at the four old men seated in the room and the guards standing near the door.

My father waved his hand dismissively. "They're all loyal to you. Continue."

I looked at Torren.

He sighed heavily. "Everybody felt the wave. We're here discussing it right now. There's nothing to hide anymore. Sooner or later, they'll know the truth. It's best for them to know now and decide if they'll stand by you."

I nodded slowly and continued. "After Caleb kept poking me with that iron rod, I was in so much pain. I was ready to give up on staying in my wolf form. But then Moonlight told me to look at the moon."

I paused, the memory flooding back. "I felt strength pour into me. Something broke inside me. And then all of a sudden, there was the blast. Everyone around me fell to the floor. I escaped, but I couldn't shift back to human form."

I explained quickly how I had to enter the festival hall in my wolf form, found Darius, and used the mate bond to anchor myself back to my human form.

When I finished, I looked at Torren. "What's a MoonWolf? And what's a Bearer?"

Torren stood slowly, his expression heavy with the weight of what he was about to say.

"Everyone," he began, his voice steady but serious. "Calm down and listen to me properly. What I'm about to say is important."

The room fell silent.

"Ravenna's bloodline has just been revealed," Torren continued. "This was the real reason she was always meant to be a wolf. It was bound to happen. I saw it coming during the academy war with the rogues."

He paused. "She wasn't meant to shift at that time. But her mate bond anchoring her, combined with the full moon that night, broke part of the seal. That's when the first wave happened. The one that killed half of the rogues."

My stomach twisted.

"Ravenna is not just an ordinary wolf," Torren said quietly. "She's something more dangerous and powerful. And more valuable—if she uses it for the right purpose."

He looked directly at me. "You are the carrier of the MoonWolf. A rare, gifted wolf who can control and harness the power of the moon in any way you want."

The room erupted in whispers.

Torren raised his hand for silence. "Which means the supernatural world is coming for her. Because wolves like her are seen as witches. They're not accepted among the packs."

My father's expression hardened. "How is this possible?"

Torren turned to him. "The last carrier of the MoonWolf power lived around a hundred years ago. But the most powerful carrier lived a thousand years ago."

He paused. "There are only two ways a carrier can exist. Either through bloodline descent or…"

He looked at my father. "Are you descended from any of the previous carriers?"

My father shook his head firmly. "No. My ancestors had no attachment to the previous carriers."

Torren nodded. "Then the only other option is that Ravenna is a reincarnation of the first carrier. The one who lived a thousand years ago."

He opened his book and showed us a picture.

A woman with red hair. Freckles—ten on each cheek and a slim build.

She looked exactly like me.

My breath caught.

"I believe this is for a purpose," Torren said quietly. "And now we need to decide what we're going to do. Because everyone in the supernatural world felt this wave. A meeting will be called. And upon investigation, they'll discover it was Ravenna."

Theo stood up immediately, his voice fierce. "No one will harm Ravenna. I don't care what the MoonWolf signifies. No harm will befall her."

The elders nodded in agreement. "This is a good fortune for the pack. But we don't believe others will understand it that way. We stand fully behind you, Ravenna."

Torren smiled faintly. "You know I'm always at your back."

My father stood and pulled me into a tight hug. "I will protect you. Even with my last drop of blood."

I nodded, my throat too tight to speak.

He turned to Sam. "Look after her."

I stopped suddenly and pulled my shirt down low, turning to Torren.

I showed him the marks on my back and shoulders. "Any solution to this?"

My father's expression turned furious. "Did Caleb do this?"

I nodded.

Torren stood immediately and left the room, returning moments later with an ointment. He handed it to Sam. "Administer this on her body."

We went to my room.

I took a bath, the hot water stinging against the cuts and bruises, and then Sam helped me apply the ointment.

When she finished, she sat beside me on the bed, her expression worried.

"What's going to happen now?" she asked quietly. "I'm scared for you."

I looked at her and forced a small smile. "Don't be. I'll be fine. My father and the pack will stand by me."

She shook her head. "I have a feeling this is going to cause a serious division between the wolves."

I was quiet for a long moment.

Then I sighed. "It will or it won't. It depends on the Moon Goddess's will. And fate."
