Confused
Arabelle is ready to go back to the castle to work as Ralph's assistant. She's going to deal with human affairs. That's something he can't deal with since he's not supposed to still be alive. All she has to do in the meantime is to wait for his instructions. She still doesn't know what she was supposed to do yet. Although she's excited about her new position. At least she's no longer a maid anymore but she still plans to clean up around.
“Sis, do you really need to get back to work?” Amie asked, she got used to her being around.
“Of course, I need to get back to work.” she replied and can't believe that her sister doesn't want her to leave.
Ralph seems to spend a lot of money for her mom's hospitalization. He also paid for everything they needed while her mom was still sick. Good thing the curse has been broken which means that she needs to work again. She's already feeling bad that he's the one who always helps her out with her family. Now, it's her turn to return the favor to him and help him with what he might need. He took care of everything and she will be forever grateful.
“I have to leave now. Take care of each other as always.” She said goodbye to her sister and mother.
“Don't worry about us. We're going to be fine.” her mom assured her and held onto Amie's shoulders.
He didn’t know that she would go back to the castle today. She wanted to surprise him and see the look on his face. After she said goodbye to Amie and her mom, she went out right away. It will be harder for her to leave them the longer she stays at their house. Ralph will be surprised to see her back. She already brought clothes for a week just like when she was still a maid there. It will be easier to stay in the castle during the days she needs to work.
“Finally, I'm back!” she excitedly told herself.
“Arabelle, your back!” Justin shouted when he saw her.
She signalled him to be quite worried that it would ruin her surprise for Ralph. Justin runs towards her as if they haven't seen each other for a long time. She giggled at his reaction and looked forward to seeing Ralph. They both walked towards the castle and entered as well. It seems eerily quiet now that they are inside. She looks at Justin to ask about Ralph when Cassie shows up. Arabelle can't believe that she can be more gorgeous than before.
“Oh, the maid is already here!” Cassie exclaimed as if trying to insult her.
“Hey, Cassie. You're back!” she still tries to sound friendly.
“I'll inform Ralph you're here.” Juston said, trying to avoid getting caught in the middle.
Arabelle just nodded and looked back at Cassie. She looks prettier but her skin seems to be paler now. That's when she realized that she's no longer human. Cassie is now a vampire just like Ralph. She can't believe that she will really go through that. It made her think that it's also possible for her to become one of them. She dismissed the thought since she can't leave her family. It will also be sad to live forever but see her loved ones die one by one.
“Did Ralph tell you I'm here for a week now?” Cassie asked as if challenging her and sat on the couch.
“No, he never mentioned you're back.” she replied and didn't know the reason why he didn't tell her.
“That's fine. I'll just inform you that I'm back for good.” Cassie said as trying to mock her.
“That's good news. At least Ralph doesn't have to worry anymore now that you're here.” she said and smiled.
Cassie almost gave in when she learned that Ralph was worried about her. He never told her how he feels even though he basically raised her. She's also having a hard time controlling herself not to attack Arabelle. Her blood smells delicious as if one drop can satisfy her thirst. She can't believe how Ralph controls himself not to bite her neck. It might be because he drinks animal blood. Or he's just controlling himself because he thinks she's Sofia.
“Arabelle, stay away from Cassie!” Ralph's voice echoed around the castle when he saw them talking.
“Ralph, don't be dramatic. We were just talking.” Cassie explained before leaving the ballroom.
Arabelle was shocked to see how serious Ralph looks right now. Instead of telling Cassie to stay away from her, she's the one who should. She doesn't know if she should interpret his action or just let it slide. He looks worried even if he seems to be angry at the moment. Maybe he's worried that she will tell her about their relationship. She had no idea if that's what he meant. In the meantime, she can just try to stay away from both of them instead.
“Are you okay?” Ralph asked as he suddenly ran to her.
“Yeah, I'm fine. Why?” She asked but confused.
“Cassie is a new vampire. She might be unable to control herself around you.” Ralph explained to her.
“Oh, I see. You're worried about me. Thank goodness!” she exclaimed and felt relieved.
“Of course I'm worried about you. What were you thinking?” Ralph asked and he's now the one confused.
“Nothing, I was hoping to surprise you, that's why I'm here unannounced.” she admitted and smiled shyly.
“Actually, I'm surprised you're here now. I thought you're going back next week.” Ralph replied.
“I want to start working as your assistant as soon as possible.” she said and smiled.
Ralph laughed as if she said something funny just now. It's confusing for her since she thought he was just angry earlier. Maybe that's just how he reacts or maybe vampires are just confusing. Not that she's complaining about how he suddenly seems sweet to her now. He's just worried about her, that's why he acted that way. They are laughing when they go to Ralph's office. He will be training her today since she wants to work right away.
“We have a lot of work to do!” Ralph said the moment he saw the paperworks in his office.
“Let's start then!” Arabelle replied excitedly.
Little did they know that Cassie was lurking by the window. She hates seeing them laughing like that together. Ralph was never like that to her before. He's always been emotionally distant towards her. Maybe it's time for her to bring up Sofia. She doesn't believe that Arabelle is Sofia's reincarnation. It seems like Ralph is just being delusional because he misses his first love. What if he finds out that Arabelle is just herself? Maybe that will break them apart.
“What are you doing?” Justin asked, surprising Cassie.
“Stop following me!” Cassie whispers and leaves since she's worried that Ralph might hear her.
