Unconscious
Arabelle saw her mom on the floor still unconscious. She and Amie decided to bring her to the hospital. The doctor checks on their mom immediately and runs some tests. They are both worried about her since she has been sleeping for two days now. She thought that her body was still recovering. Unfortunately, the test results were all normal when it came back. If there's nothing wrong with her, why is she still unconscious and not waking up?
“The test results all came back normal, other than that she's a little malnourished. She just needs to eat to recover.” the doctor explained to her the moment it's available.
“She's been unconscious for two days, doc. Why is she not waking up?” Arabelle asked, worried about her mom.
“She seems to have fallen into a coma. We need to monitor her for now. I'll have to give her fluids to get the nutrition she needs.” the doctor told her.
“I hope she will wake up soon, doc.” she replied to him.
Arabelle looks at her mom and feels sad about what just happened to her. She fell into a coma, that's why she seems to be sleeping for too long. Her body seems to give up from the curse even after she recovers. She needs to find the descendant before she gets worse. But how can she leave them again? Her sister seems to still recover from taking care of their mom alone. She might give in as well if she leaves her again to find someone.
“Is mom gonna be okay?” Amie asked her with hopeful but tired eyes.
“Of course she will be fine. I'll make sure of that.” she replied to her.
“If you need to leave again to find a cure, I'll be okay here.” Amie informed her.
“I might need to ask for help. It's better for mom to stay here in the hospital.” she told her.
Amie nodded as a sign that she agrees with her older sister. At least their mom's condition will be monitored in the hospital. Arabelle thinks that the curse is active once again that's why her mom fell into a coma. She needs to find the descendant and do what she needs to do. It's not going to be easy to just end someone. Although she can't let her mom suffer because of the curse. The dark witch's descendant has to die to save their mother.
“Sis, the guys are here. Did you call them?” Amie notified her and wondered how they knew they were here.
“No, I didn't. They just knew where they were." She replied to her sister and got up to greet her friends.
“How is that possible?” Amie asked herself instead how did those guys know where they are right now.
The guys are all in the hospital to see how their mom is doing. She knows that they sensed what happened so she didn't bother to ask anymore. Ralph immediately hugs her the moment they see each other. That's when her tears finally fell down from her eyes. She didn’t want her sister to see her cry about their mom's condition. It will make her panic for sure. She knows that her family relies on her and she always needs to appear strong.
“How is she?” Ralph asked her after they all sat down on the long chair from the hallway.
“The doctor said she fell into a coma. He still doesn't know why since all her tests came back normal.” she replied.
“Maybe the curse has been activated again.” Justin commented but also looks worried.
“That's what I was thinking earlier. Where's Armand?” she replied to him before she noticed he's not around.
“He went out earlier before we sensed something was off. We decided not to wait for him anymore and went straight here instead.” Ralph explained to her.
“I see. I was hoping he would be here as well. Maybe he knows what we need to do.” Arabelle told them.
Ralph suddenly feels insecure since he doesn't know how to help Arabelle's mom. He will do anything to save her mom but he's not a warlock. Vampires can't break curses even if he read the books before. It seems like Armand is the only one who can help them. Although they didn't know where he went earlier. He was just reading the books about witchcraft earlier back in the castle. Arabelle seems to notice what he's feeling and holds his hand.
“Don't worry, I'll check back on him if he's back in the castle and bring him here.” Justin volunteered.
“Thanks, Justin. He might know another way to help my mom.” Arabelle told him and smiled before he left.
“He already told you before that the descendant must die.” Ralph said once Justin is already gone.
“We can't just end someone's life for another to continue. We're not barbarians, right?” she replied to what he said.
He just nodded since he agrees on what she said even if he feels jealous about Armand. She's right to hope that there's another way to help her mom. Even if he's not human anymore, he doesn't want to hurt them either. He needs to stop his negative feelings. Armand is his friend and he knows that he will not take Arabelle from him. He knows that he cares for her as a friend. They all want to help Arabelle's mom and break that curse if possible.
“Ralph, are you okay?” Arabelle asked worriedly.
“Yeah, I'm okay. I just feel a little insecure.” Ralph admitted and feels embarrassed.
“You don't have to feel insecure to anyone. You know how I feel about you.” she said, reassuring him.
“I know, I'm sorry. I haven't felt insecure for a long time.” he explained and feels a lot better now.
Arabelle hugs him tightly as if trying to take some strength from him. She doesn't know if she had the guts to kill the descendant for her mom's sake. Whenever she tries to do the locator spell, something happens. It seems like something is stopping her from finding the descendant. Maybe she can't locate him yet because of what she's planning to do. As much as she doesn't want to kill the descendant, it might be the only way to break the curse.
“Hopefully, your mom wakes up soon.” Ralph said while looking at her sleeping mother now.
“That's what I'm also hoping for.” she replied.
“If it's the only way to go, I'll do it for you.” Ralph told her.
“I can't possibly let you do it.” She tried to stop herself from saying it because Amie is just beside her.
Ralph just smiled at her as if he already decided that he will be the one to kill the descendant. It will be easier for him to do than if Arabelle will do it. All they need to do is to find the descendant. Maybe Armand has an alternative way to break the curse. If not, he will not have to think twice about it. He can't let her be a killer so it's better to get it done as soon as possible.
